I've been playing it at 4k, mix of ultra and high settings and getting a stable 30 fps on a single 980. The game looks gorgeous on this display, especially at night. Turn on HBAO+ and the shadows/blacks are perfect.
Maybe people are looking to extend their Macbook Pro to a 4K display? It's not just PC users/gamers that are in the market for large screen high res displays.
This is odd. I noticed an update notification on the monitor before I left for work today morning but Samsung's website still shows 1209 as the latest update?
UN40JU6500 + 1209
There is no difference between PC and DVI PC for me. Will post images once I get home.
(Further corroborated by the fact that Game Mode is greyed out in both device type settinds).
I think the discussion is good. Better that buyers have more information than less about possible drawbacks.
For people still on the fence about this monitor, consider that you are looking for a good 4k monitor in the $750-$1000 price range. There will be compromises this early in the tech...
Ok. Just to be clear on my own UN40JU6500. This is the status.

Can a bad HDMI cable cause ghosting? (I am thinking not).
Have you seen any improvement in ghosting with 1207? (I am seeing major ghosting in one of my games - PES 2015).
Yes. My post was in the support of others who can't get 4:4:4 in game mode.
I tried again using Cyph's suggested menu option.
I can see 4:4:4 only if the source is set to PC or DVI PC. And with that device type, game mode option is greyed out.
If I change device type to anything else...
Ok, where exactly does one set "Game mode" other than device type in the source menu?
I am on a UN40JU6500. I verified that I have the latest firmware (1206), via wi-fi and also by downloading the firmware to a USB drive.
I made sure the image is set to 100% zoom in Chrome.

Anything new in the updated firmware?
Casting to the JU6500 from an Android phone works very well too. Much easier than searching for the video using the remote.
I actually got a Google Now card today that said that it had detected a Samsung TV on the Wi-Fi network and whether I wanted to...
Currently, I have Windows set to turn off my display after 15 mins in power settings. My old monitor used to go into standby almost immediately after that. Is there a similar setting for the JU6500? I did find the 'No Signal' turn off setting but the lowest I can set it to is 15 mins.
Spent some more time with the display. Played some Pro Evo Soccer. No noticeable lag for me. And if I don't notice it in this game, I won't notice it.
I did see some ghosting though, but I think that was the game. Played some Witcher 2 and noticed nothing there. So must have been something...
My 40JU6500 just arrived. Haven't had a chance to play around with it or set up UHD color on HDMI 1, just enough time to make sure it starts up and has not damage/bad pixels.
That start-up video looks amazing! Going from the AG coating of the U3011 to this semi-gloss display makes it seem like...
This might be interesting to people who wanted to look at the display in a store before buying it. Bestbuy now has the UN40JU6500 in stock now. (available for local pickup today in my area).
Perfect, thanks. My current monitor has almost become unusable, so went ahead and placed the order. $785 shipped from Crutchfield is a pretty decent price.
Input lag in pc mode is stated as 48ms for the JU6500. I've been using a U3011 for a few years, so input lag is not a big issue for me. I am just surprised that the difference form the JU7500 (36ms) is so large.
I've been looking at that monitor arm. Do you think it will work with a 40" screen? All I am looking to do is get the bottom edge kind of flush with my desk (i.e., lower it by 2 inches or so). Ergo-tech's specs mention support for upto 27". Do you think it would be safe using a 100x100:200x200...
About 4:4:4 support, is it only an issue over HDMI connections and for televisions? I don't recall this coming up when I was buying my previous monitor. Is it a given that all PC monitors support 4:4:4 or maybe it isn't an issue at lower resolutions?
Perfect, thank you. Would have gotten a bit annoying otherwise.
This seems like a pretty good deal at $825. I was originally interested in the Phillips but availability seems to be an issue there.
How is Samsung warranty/support supposed to be? Because it is a TV, I am hoping they have a...
WorldExclusive, a couple of questions if you wouldn't mind.
How easy is it to shift to game mode and back? Can you do this with the remote?
When you shift to Game Mode and back to the normal mode, do you need to unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in?
I don't know if this has been answered. Is there any height adjustment? When the display is set to the lowest point, how many inches above the desk would the top of the display be?
Edit: Sorry, should have mentioned it. Am looking at the UN40JU6500
