Hi, I'm looking for a pair of portable (something small that folds flat) headphones for under ~$150 to use at home and on airplanes. No IEMs.
I have a pair of Sony MDR-V6s, and a pair of Sennheiser PX 100-IIs, but I want a closed pair that's more portable than the Sonys. Comfort and...
I ordered some Crucial DDR3 PC-10600 from a 3rd party retailer and it came with a typo on both the plastic package and the sticker on the module itself. Instead of PC3 10600, it says PC3 1600. Anyone ever see this before? Should I be worried that it's counterfeit?
The retailer has already...
A couple of us are pulling the 5DII thread off topic with this discussion, so let's talk about it here
Hopefully they'll never drop lens based IS... It's a better system, especially with longer telephotos, which is where you need it the most. Given that Canon places a lot of emphasis on...

Looks like we'll see it before November =)
edit: author of the book posted on dpreview and said the title was just a placeholder and there's no such camera yet. She could be...
I was in Florida this past week and got to borrow a 300mm f/4 IS lens to shoot some wildlife. It's a pretty challenging lens to use since you only have foot-zoom. I don't know how people managed to catch birds in the old days with film, manual focus, and no IS =b
I just picked up a Domke J-803 bag as my "light" bag when I just want to bring a couple lenses and maybe a flash. For the most part it's great, except the latch on the front is a stiff metal clip and it's hard to undo with one hand:
So, I grabbed a plastic buckle off an old backpack...
I finally got an adapter for the 50mm 1.4 Super Takumar that I've had sitting around for the past couple years. I also got some ebay wireless flash triggers, so here's one picture with the 50 wide open, and one where I was playing with a flash off camera.
Sorry, no knife or cat...
Here's a shot of Pearl Harbor in the evening. Again, I didn't bring a tripod so I had to handhold and brace on the car door. In retrospect I should've closed the door =b
Tried out an HDR merge for the first time, I think it turned out pretty well:
Canon 10-22 on a 20D, I didn't bring a tripod so I just hand-held and used +/-2 exposure bracketing.
Look what I found in my closet!
A friend of mine was showing me some of the shots he's been taking with some older Contax M42 primes on his 5D with a focus confirmation adapter, they're crazy sharp and have amazing color. After talking to him, I remembered that I had a couple M42 primes...
Was taking some pictures at my friends' graduation when this happened:
Friend's mom: I don't like that bathroom sign behind her head, they should move
Me: Should be okay, it should be out of focus at this distance anyway
FM: This is a very good camera, everything is in focus
Me...
I was walking home for lunch when some guys in a van stopped and asked me if I wanted to buy "an extra" set of surround sound speakers that they had
Anyone else every run into one of these scams?
I ordered an x60s a few weeks ago and it came in today as I was leaving for work =) I was pretty surprised because I had only paid for ground shipping but they sent it overnight express from Shanghai. Great timing too since I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow morning and I'll have something to...
Hey, a few months ago I read about a windows glitch that can significantly shorten the battery life on a core duo notebook when a usb 2.0 device is plugged in.

At the time of the article, there was an unofficial workaround from MS, but it...
I picked up a tripod a few months ago but haven't had much of a chance to use it. I had some time the other night though, so here's one of the shots I took.
What's the difference between a 1.66 GHz L series core duo and a 1.66 GHz T series? From what I've read, the L is the low voltage part while the T is the performance part... But what exactly does that mean? They both have 2MB L2 cache, and I can't find anywhere that says what the difference...
Quck question: I was thinking about getting a 360 and was wondering if I'll need to buy all new controllers, or if I can use the original Xbox ones with some kind of an adapter?
Is motherboard monitor still the best thing for keeping an eye on cpu temps? The guy stopped writing new versions a while ago right? I'm a little out of the loop =p
I'm just curious to see if people who game on LCDs use the native resolution or will change things up, and what the breakdown is for LCD resolutions. Should be pretty self-explanatory.

This is the lens I've been waiting for! Can't wait to see some reviews, too bad it's not getting released until May this year.
I'm going to NYC for the weekend and I'm trying to figure out which lenses to bring. Pretty sure I'll be taking the 10-22 and the 30 f/1.4, but I'm debating whether or not to leave the 24-70 at home. Any suggestions? I'm going with friends and I might want to take some portrait type shots, so...
I got a new camera about a year ago and am looking into backup solutions for my photos. I have around 30 gigs of stuff right now, so burning to DVD isn't really an option. I have an external 3.5" USB hard disk and copy stuff over to it every week, but there are a couple possible issues with...
I've been using an 18 gig Cheetah x15 36LP on a Tekram U2W controler as my OS drive for the past 5 years, but it's definitely showing its age these days. This past upgrade I figured it was time to upgrade to a Raptor (74GB, not the new one), since it seems like IDE/SATA drives have either...
Here're some pictures I took the other day out in Waianae. I used the 70-200 f/4 for all of them.
Hrm, looks like photobucket lowered it's cap to ~300KB now?

This looks like it'll be a pretty solid compact camera. Very good high ISO performance and manual controls unlike the F10
My roommate has an old laptop that we're going to use as a livingroom mp3 player and maybe for movies. Problem is the audio out is really noisy. Any decent USB soundcards that are cheaper than the Extigy or Audigy2? I've seen a ~$50 USB SBLive! box on Newegg and a $25 Turtle Beach thing. 5.1...
Woohoo, everything is here ;) Set up the fronts, center and sub, but the surrounds are still in the box while my roommates and I rearrange the living room. So far everything sounds great. I borrowed an SPL meter to calibrate things but it turns out I really didn't need to make very many...
I've been looking around at receivers and have noticed that the HK ones tend to be more expensive with less wattage than say an Onkyo receiver with comparable features. I've heard that HK makes good stuff and they tend to be more conservative with their power ratings since they're "better."...
Hey, any of you guys using Rawshooter Essentials with Neat Image? I've found that when I create a jpeg with of Rawshooter, Neat Image is unable to match the profile and I have to do it myself. Maybe it's a problem with the profile I created?
Using version 5 of Neat Image Pro +, Rawshooter...
I just picked up a 20D and am looking for a good indoor lens for taking pictures of people and groups. Any suggestions? Currently looking at the Canon 35mm f/2.0, Canon 28mm f1.8, and the Sigma 20mm f/1.8. I currently have the 17-85 kit lens and I'm probably going to pick up the 50mm f/1.8...
