I actually have SLi 460's and noticed that there is a weird coincidence when playing BF3 and stuttering (not microstutter or that weird jittering some people have, talking about like half second freezes or incredible choppiness). Every time it happened the hard drive was being read from, going...
Hi
So I recently discovered that I could make use of my old computer by turning it into a router. Our current one is nearly as old as the computer itself and its constantly causing issues, so I figured I would turn this thing into one.
I saw the guide where it recommends getting 2 NIC's...
Just wondering, how much does the backplate stick off the back of the motherboard at the areas it screws in through the top? Reason I ask is I have a haf 932 with a x58 ud4p, and the little window thats supposed to allow easy access to that area seems to be a bit off; the bottom left hole is...
I have a xonar essence STX and that delay used to drive me nuts with instruments. What I ended up doing was installing ASIO drivers (ASIO 4 all I think), using acid pro for recording, and making it use ASIO as the default device for recording/playback. This does have a few problems (cant have...
I feel the same way about creative as many people in this thread, was an early vista adopter and the sound card was the one thing giving me constant headaches. Normally I wouldnt immediately rule out buying something from a company based solely on my own past negative experience (maybe I just...
not sure where you got your starcraft installer from, but the one off battle.net required no voodoo dancing (or compatibility mode for that matter) to get working. In fact I just tried running it off an old hard drive (old windows 7 installation, didnt reformat it) and it worked perfectly.
How much more can you OC with this compared to say one of the non reference 460's with a custom cooler, but don't have the price premium? I'm canadian and managed to snag 2 1gb gigabyte 460's for under 200$ which was a great deal, but that way back in august (and can do 880/1760 at 1057mv). Is a...
Heh that too :p
both are at 880/1760, can do 850 on stock voltage, have to bump it up 2 notches for 880, and cant go much farther at 1087mv
maybe i'll turn off my second monitor while I am sleeping then to help
Also, just tested that game feature. Stopped as soon as the game window...

Right now the GPU running the 925 point credit is listed as 15.3k ppd, while the 912 credit one is 14k ppd. It's been changing a bit (every little thing in firefox seems to cause a drop in gpu usage), but they have both been around 14.7k. I saw that game pause feature, I'll give it a try right...

Ok i'll keep monitoring it for any change over the next couple hours. The clients will be running most of the time, I just say not 24/7 since I do game a bit and would have to pause them. But as mentioned I wont be doing much of that till around mid december. I'll definitely be leaving them on...

Right now its at 3% for the i7 920, and nice to hear about the 460's. Got them at a great price, but theyve been feeling a bit neglected because of an unexpected course load this semester, so its great being able to put them to use for something productive that wont screw me over :D
Ah good...

I tried that, and it looks like the 2 gpu clients are taking up ~80% of a single HT core by themselves (you can set the amount of threads to run in the program itself), would that be whats causing it?

right now its p6701 (R0, C1, G63). I stopped and deleted the one I was working on (very easy through that menu in the program) because I assumed it was the -bigadv one. Right now its at 6442.6PPD

Yes HT is enabled. Temps hitting around 67C max while folding. I am running 2 GPU clients (sli 460's), so how much of a difference would that make? In HFM.NET the TPF column says 00:11:27. I guess I should disable bigadv then, because I definitely wont be folding on the cpu 24/7 (the gpu's...

Ok got the thing running on the 8800gtx/x2 6000+ system, the 8800 seems to be topping out at 70c which is fine. Right now the estimated PPD by HFM.NET is 42k. ~14.7k per 460 (both oc'ed at 880/1760), i7 920 is 6k, x2 6000+ is 1.1k, and the 8800GTX is 5.3k which is the same as what I remember it...

Ah yeah I remember that, probably part of what turned me off it because I could never seem to get SMP to work. I did get the GPU client running for a while on my 8800GTX, but I think I stopped because of how much it affected the system; now that its just part of a media server (not actually...

This is EXCELLENT. Can't tell you how annoying it was trying to get this to work normally on my system, mainly because I am lazy. Now you guys cant count an i7 920 @ 3.6ghz (normally at 3.8, wont fold at that though so some addition tweaking is required) and 2 460's folding near full time. I'll...

Replaced my 8800gtx with 2 gigabyte 1gb 460's (have an i7 920 @ 3.8ghz). Had the 8800gtx with the i7 since the D0's came out (and the 8800gtx a couple months after release). Monitor is 1920x1200, HUGE difference. Games were actually making me run on mediumish-high settings, now everything is...
Hi
I was just wondering if anyone has some reccomendations for a full tower case for me. Its become painfully apparent I need one since I got my SLI gtx 460's; not because of their size, but just how incredibly crowded that area has become. Id have to remove both cards plus the one above them...
Hi
So I'm planning on pulling the trigger on a second 460 since they are coming with metro 2033 now (already got one with just cause 2, wanted to wait). Thing is, I want to have the first card in the top x16 slot and the second in the bottom x8 slot vs having them right next to eachother...
Just a question, If I have an SLi bridge ( http://estore.asus.com/shop/imageview.asp?file=08-160001210.JPG to be exact) from a 4 to 5 year old mobo, will it cause problems with 2 460's? Or are they basically all the same.
Really like these recent articles you guys have been putting out. Been advising some people on builds and its just more information thats GREAT to know since you dont need to worry (strictly single monitor here) about having to run both cards in x16 lanes. Being able to run it in the x8 lane...
Any chance of seeing a review of the 768mb version of the card in SLi at a lower rez like 1920x1200? Seemed to perform really well in your original single card review when compared to the 1gb version at that rez. Wondering how big of a difference SLi would make seeing as how its huge with the...
So if it performs close to an i7 in these synthetic benchmarks, that means gaming performance is going to be worse right? Unless games can make use of the 2 extra cores? Rarely see that kindof usage on my 920, I think only during bad company 2 loading times I see 100% across all cores for maybe...
