Jriver has opened a kickstarter campaign to replace WMC. I've been using jriver for a while now. Its not as pretty as MB3 (now called Emby) but it works extremely well and its much faster and smoother.
Here's the link...
According to this website: http://www.hardware.fr/articles/936-5/gpu-perfs-jeux-opencl-h-264-265.html braswell supports 8-bit and 10bit hevc. I'll likely pick one up to play with.
Has any new Carrizo laptop been reviewed yet? I know Toshiba announced a couple of laptops with the new processor as an option but its unavailable to purchase on either their website or bestbuy.
Toshiba is releasing a few laptops with carrizo, and finally a 2 in 1 with an APU! I went to the bestbuy website and didn't see it even though the article states its available now.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Primary usage is Adobe photoshop and Premiere for gopro footage, including some 4k stuff.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
budget is $900 - $1300 for the everything
3) Which country do you...
Is the a10-7850k that bad? I feel like with dx12 coming out in July it will give it a nice boost in gaming and processor-wise it should be decent enough. Hell I've been using an intel z3735 tablet and its sufficient for my normal usage (web browsing, docs, video streaming.)
I used to have a liva pc and it couldn't handle HEVC well. I'm sure the Asus chromebox would be able to but I'm going to wait until there is something with full hardware support for it.
I use jriver and do a lot of streaming (big family). I currently can only handle a few streams now because...
Don't know how anyone can recommend the yoga 2 pro with its extremely awful wifi. Had a friend pick one up and it rarely connects to wifi and when it does its incredibly slow. Its a shame that he spend $1000 on a laptop and then has to go open it up to replace the wifi card for something not...
I have a Lenovo miix 2 8" that has the same processor I think and it runs every video (h.264, h.265) fairly well. CPU usage is high but don't notice any stuttering or audio going out of sync. This is also displaying to the fairly low resolution screen of the tablet, so trying to push 1080p may...
I actually edited my post above. I asked about arm processors and h.265 hardware decoding. I removed it though as it seems as the software I use (jriver media center) does not currently support ARM Linux h.265 decoding.
I'll take a look and see what's out there.
Any mini pc under $200 than can play 1080p h.265 videos? I was looking at the hp stream mini but not sure if it can play it. I had a liva mini pc and it struggled with 720p h.265 encodes.
Is my best option to build an AM1 setup?
still having trouble with this. I set HDMI audio out to AMP, I don't have an HDMI-CEC setting on my projector, I looked through the menu and couldn't find anything. I've tried several different settings on the receiver and can't seem to figure it out.
I went through the manual and the on screen menu and tried different stuff out but couldn't get it to work the way I wanted.
I'm using a denon 1612.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have my HTPC connected to a receiver which connects to a projector. With the projector on music plays fine. I don't want to leave my projector on killing my bulb while I have my music on playing. But everytime I shut off the projector the music stops playing. Is there anyway to keep having the...
I updated to 9860 and noticed 2 new programs on my tablet, "Docking Controller" and "zPC settings" which has added OEM* and Pending or Deprecated* to the settings menu. In the "Pending" settings it seems like there is an option to allow swiping from the left to switch between apps instead of...
I currently use Unifi AP's in my house and planned to upgrade to the AP AC soon. I just came across Planet and was wondering if anyone has experience with their products.

No I didn't take it in that manner. At first I was like "wtf is he talking about, maybe my tablet sucks because I can't do anything like he states" Then I realized you maybe you haven't seen that modern IE has a workaround.
I agree that the finished product won't end up with these issues. It...
There is a modern IE in the build.

As long as the metro app (I've only tried IE and mail, but i'm assuming it...
I'm talking about ie modern on windows 10. Keyboard doesn't auto pop up unless I click the 3 dots and select full screen.
Edit: I just tried the mail app and its the same situation. Full screen, keyboard auto pops up, any other view, it won't. I'm guessing it applies to all metro apps.
I'd like to change my previous statement, ie modern works really well, but only when in full screen mode. When not in full screen the keyboard doesn't auto pop up.
I installed windows 10 on my tablet as well. I like the new task view when swiping left but it is slower than before where swiping left would switch apps.
I hate that modern IE was removed. I tried the powershell script way to bring it back but it doesn't work well for me. Crashes often...
Anybody with an iPhone 6 or 6+ on Sprint able to connect to Sprint Spark? My phone seems stuck on band 25 and I can't seem to find any info online of anyone being able to connect to band 41 (sprint spark).
What do you plan on using the laptop for? I bought a miix 2 with 2gb ram and z3740 atom to try out and so far its been quick enough for my needs. I've tested 2160p youtube videos, streaming through mediabrowser3, and having about 15 tabs open surfing the web. Both of the laptop processors you...
September 24 - Blackberry Passport is released. Even if you don't like BB, a 1:1 1440p screen with a touch enabled physical keyboard is at least different than the norm.
Reason for new build is the need for more processing power.
I purchase the case, psu, and ssd today. I have 3 weeks to do this build so I'll wait on the rest to see what deals pop up.
Thanks for the help!
I know you stated you want a 15.6" screen, but whenever someone asks me about a laptop for basic needs I recommend looking into the surface pro 3. I played around with one and would be purchasing it but everytime I use the keyboard on my gen1 x1 carbon I realize I can't replace it since I type...
