    $1500 case build, advice/suggestions needed

Tom's Hardware recently published a review of higher-end vid cards here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-comparison,2007.html Based on that review, I'd say "no", unless you can get the 280gtx for the same price or only slightly higher than the cost of a 4870.

    Build for less than $1500?

Wow... I just noticed that AVA Direct added these to their Showroom, in their forums. http://www.avadirect.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=457 Way cool, and stuff. ;)

Check my thread here... http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1326145 Folks gave some great info and advice for the same price range you're looking for.

    Build for less than $1500?

We received the PCs from AVA Direct last Friday, but I just now have taken the chance to update this thread. Each system's specs (they're identical, and I need up update my sig...): + CUSTOM COMPUTER, Core™2 DDR2 Performance Series System 2 # ANTEC, Performance One P180 Silver Mid Tower...

Punch in the configuration on their website and it'll give the most up to date pricing.

    Build for less than $1500?

Delivery and Tax vary with your location, so my totals likely wouldn't be the same as yours. I'd suggest getting a quote from their website for the most accurate totals. :) UPS just picked up the systems from AVA Direct today, and should be here on Friday if there are no delays. Looking...

Need general, basic printer that is reliable and doesn't break down

I'll reiterate what the others here have said: Your best bet is to get a laser printer. Most inexpensive inkjet printers cost more to repair than it costs to just replace them. More often than not, the inkjet (bubblejet, deskjet, etc.) printers' parts are more fragile and prone to breakage...

Spider Lamp – Available on the Web (rimshot)

My wife is very arachnophobic... IF it weren't so costly, I'd get one! :D

    Build for less than $1500?

I don't have a clue. I'd guess it's an Antec, but I really don't know for sure. It's listed with the case just as a "450W PSU", but I'm sure that the folks at Ava Direct wouldn't build a PC with a sub-par power supply. ;)

    Build for less than $1500?

Welp... I ordered the wife and I a couple of new PCs from a boutique shop; I chose Ava Direct, since they're highly rated and have some of the best configuration options I've seen on a website. I figured that it was worth the extra bit of cash to get the computers pre-built, pre-tested, and...

    Build for less than $1500?

Ok... Before I bite the bullet and get the systems, here's what I have so far. Let me know what you folks think... The price dropped today on the Q9550. :D Prices from Newegg... Case: $139.99 - Antec P182 Gun Metal Black Power supply: $119.99 - CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX 520W Motherboard...

    ~$500 HTPC system

Heheh... Yeah. I think I will. It's a nice lookin' case, too. :D That's a really nice little ITX setup, with some good HD info in the thread, too. I think I may go with one of the AMD solutions. Lower cost, and it should do just about everything I need in a HTPC. Still not sure which...

    ~$500 HTPC system

Here's a relatively inexpencive HTPC setup that I'm thinking of building... I don't know a lot about HTPC systems, except that they need to be able to handle multimedia tasks, file conversions, and HD video. So, this may not be the best selection for a ~$500 system. Any feedback would be...

Buying new machine: AVA, Maingear or Puget & some questions on configuration

Post some pics and stuff. :) I'm curious how it turned out for ya, since I'm considering AVA Direct for my next build and your setup is similar to what I'm planning ( in this thread: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1326145 ). Though, I'm still debating whether I'll build it myself or...

    AT&T Tilt question

I have a Tilt... And, you don't have to slide the keyboard open or 'tilt' it to dial; can dial just by using the touchscreen. :) It's a nifty little Windows Mobile device.

    Build for less than $1500?

I hadn't considered it, or even looked into it. What are the advantages/disadvantages of using 64bit instead of 32bit?

    Build for less than $1500?

Looks like I'll try it with the stock fans first, then. ;) One more question... Would that case remain relatively quiet with the front door removed? We have desks with a spot for the PC that requires us to remove the door so we can access the drives. Similar to this one, though our desks...

    Build for less than $1500?

Odd... I only added one of every component to the Wish List, but somehow it showed 9 or 10 of each item. I've corrected it, and the cost is below $1700 now. Should be well below $1500 by the end of the month... Yay! ;)

    Build for less than $1500?

Heh... Either way, I'm getting the Artic Silver compound. Updated my list, and made it a "Wish List" on Newegg... At the moment it totals at over $1700, but with next week's price drops it should be below $1500 again. I don't know a lot about cases and "silent" parts... Do you folks have...

    Build for less than $1500?

Sorry... The monitor is in the sig, LG L227WTG-PF. It's a 22" 16:10 widescreen. Thanks to everyone for all the great feedback! Any additional advice is definitely welcome, too.

    Build for less than $1500?

I plan to game at 1680x1050, but I'd like the PC to last as long as my 2600+ has held out. So, to "future-proof" it, I'll likely get the Q9550 with next week's price drop. Also, the ATI 4870 should last us at least a couple years, I hope. ;)

    Build for less than $1500?

Here's what I've come up with. All prices from Newegg, so far: Case: $149.99 - Antec P182 Power Supply: $119.99 - CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX 520W Motherboard: I was kinda iffy on that Gigabyte board, so chose an Asus with RAID support... $109.99 - ASUS P5QL-E Video Card: $404.98 - ASUS...

    Build for less than $1500?

Heya All... It's time for me to upgrade my home systems since my current build (OLD - check my sig) will not play the latest games at decent framerates. Though, it'll still play most games without too much of a hit; Bioshock is pushing it a bit too much, but it plays Portal fine. I'm wanting...
