I'm having a hard time finding this desk on the ikea website... did they discontinue it? If I could order it online and have it shipped to me, I'd order one right now!
No. You can set those HDMI ports to Game mode, and you will see slightly more lag than if it were PC mode. Game mode, from what I've read, equates out to around 50ms of input lag on the A650 series. IMO for a console like Wii, 360, or PS3, that's definitely acceptable. PC mode is about half that...
The best way I can analogize it is to put it into network latency. I would say that going from the VX924 to the LN40A650 feels like going from LAN play with 0-5ms to online play at 20-30ms. Yes, it's noticeable, but it's almost trivial.
Like I said, I don't feel disadvantaged while playing...
Also, as far as reflection goes on the glossy screen, the anti reflection on the glossy material is very good. I have a window right behind my TV, and in the middle of the day, with the window open, I can still see the TV quite well. Obviously not as well as in the middle of the night, but it's...
I have a LN40A650 for my main computer monitor and TV. On HDMI2 set as PC, the input lag playing Counter Strike is virtually unnoticeable. I say virtually, because compared to my Viewsonic 19" VX924, I can feel the slightest bit of input lag. I believe for someone who isn't as picky as I am, and...
Viewsonic VX910.
It's a bit older, but the specs are still better than most anything current, and it's still the best LCD that I've used, as far as contrast/brightness/response time. I've used this monitor to play Q3, RTCW, and CS very competitively online. Because of the demand for a monitor...
Oh and, if you're worried about your work monitoring what you do on your host PC, the VM won't be the culprit to look for. The VM is completely sovereign. The thing to worry about is the way your VPN connection works.
I'm sure the net/sys admins who maintain and administer your VM systems have other crap to worry about, rather than what's going on with your host machine. If they cared, they would set you up on a split tunneling disabled VPN connection, and all traffic related to your VM and host would be...
I'm sitting over 4 feet from the screen... recommended distance that I've read for 40" for best viewing results is 4-7 feet. Of course that can be argued, but I'm well within the "recommended" viewing distance.

ihaveworms, surprisingly there...
It's not too far from head level, I sit pretty high. The 19" lcd to the right is a very good monitor and the image quality of the samsung vs the viewsonic is actually better IMO, with the exception of the input lag. The viewsonic does feel more accurate when moving the mouse around, but the...
This is actually my first post here... thanks to some past posts here, I was able to get this screen working correctly with my PC. I was having issues with DVI to HDMI: text was overly sharp, picture wasn't very good at all. Discovered that I needed to plus it into a specific HDMI, HDMI2, rather...
