I've got some 4TB drives that are getting stretched thin. Are 4TB drives still the optimal size for the price for storage like they were a few years ago? If not, what size is?
Been rocking this setup for many years now, but I'm feeling the weight of progress slowing me down. Which is the bigger bottleneck for 1080p/144Hz gaming on modern games? Full specs:
i5-2500k @ 4.0GHz
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600
EVGA GTX 780 FTW
Is there a worthy upgrade option for 1155...
I'm sick and tired of bonded leather/pleather that starts flaking off and shedding little bits of crap all over the carpet, but unfortunately this seems to be the majority of office chairs out there. I'm also not a fan of the mesh chairs as I don't like the texture. I also need the chair to...
I'd also be open to weirdo 640GB or other slightly larger sizes. I don't feel a 1TB would be necessary unless there's minimal cost difference. Always been a Sandisk fan but I'm wondering if anyone would recommend other brands.
While I'd honestly like to stay with the 2500k and keep going, the price and availability of LGA1155 mobos seems too restrictive to carry on. This is primarily a gaming machine, so overclocking is expected. I've been out of the loop for a while, so what CPU/CPUs are the new value kings these days?
It's on 5GHz at the moment. Disappointing, but the upgrade was primarily to reduce interference since I'm in an apartment complex, and it's accomplished that. Thanks for the info.
RT-N66U. 40 Mhz. Not sure what you mean by this question. Windows 7 x64 drivers. Excellent. Excellent.
To be clear: reception isn't a problem. It's a strong 300Mbps. But I want to know why this adapter won't go to 450Mbps.
I recently got this wireless adapter for my desktop to connect to my Asus RT-N66U. Now, my six-year-old Alienware laptop's Killer NIC manages to connect to my network at 450Mbps. However, the Asus can only hit 300. What am I missing? Is the AC56 only capable of exceeding 300Mbps on an ac router?
I'm not connecting ethernet because that would require running a cable from the living room to the office. I want a USB NIC so that I can actually place the antenna in a good position rather than "back of my rig under my desk", which is not an ideal place. I guess I would consider an onboard NIC...
Ever since I upgraded to the Asus router, my desktop has had issues with some games stuttering and lagging. Every other device has a smooth connection. Desktop currently has a TP-Link AC600 for its wifi adapter.
I need a recommendation for a USB NIC that hopefully has a long USB cable so it...
I listed off just some of the languages in which I've had classes which involved constructing programs to accomplish simple tasks. Your "average meat sack" comment is nothing but an insult and demonstrates that you don't think anyone who isn't a weaponized autist with code should be in the...
As I said, I don't have a "passion" for programming and I haven't found a need for it in my personal life. I do understand how to use it to accomplish work-related tasks, but desktop support is usually not a role that has any opportunities for automating tasks apart from the occasional basic...
I've been doing desktop support type jobs for the last 15 years or so. Recent health issues have changed my life considerably and I find myself limited either to part-time work, or work that can be accomplished either remotely, or outside of normal work hours. Finding part-time desktop support...
I'm looking at the Asus USB-AC56 right now, as I'd prefer a USB device that doesn't take up much room on the back of my rig. Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a less expensive unit that performs well.
And there has been misinformation and bullshit on the internet for over two decades now. Are we suddenly in need of protection via the EU from such terrors?
We're also not all entertainers vying for public approval for our careers, then blaming the audience for our mistakes. Your comparison is invalid.
And the fact that you call people soulless for disliking a comic speaks for itself. It's okay, dude. I'd fuck her, too. But white knighting on a...
You understand there is a difference between being offended by a comedian, and simply finding them unfunny, right? Especially when said comedian increasingly establishes a habit of joke-stealing.
My favorite comedians in history are Kinison, Carlin, Pryor, Murphy, Izzard, Dangerfield, and...
Look, the science is settled. There is no more debate about Daylight Savings Time. It's absolutely crucial to humanity's survival that we keep this government initiative on the books, and the Daylight Savings Deniers are simply paid off by Big Oil to try to make us use more energy. We can't...
So we're told. However, the CIA doesn't confirm or deny shit to us, so who really knows what they do and why.
Biography.com: Anderson Cooper interned for the CIA.
I have a 1200 sq ft apartment with two bedrooms and thick-ass walls. My network setup consists of a Netgear WNDR4300 router connected to a D-Link DAP-1522 wireless bridge. The router is where my internet connection plugs in, and supplies wired connections to my various game consoles. The bridge...
There were before proof-of-life of Assange was provided. It may yet still be compromised, but as above, I'm not sure how this move proves or indicates that either way. As far as I can see, they want a database of information already publicly available.
So...they want to create a database of the users of Twitter that are such prominent public figures that they've verified their identities.
I'm not understanding the problem.

You say that like mental illness makes all real-life threats cease to exist. By your logic, a schizophrenic woman has no right to shoot a real-life rapist. How horrifying.
