I have restarted the system, I have wiped everything out except the executable and still keep getting assigned to the same server. It would complete a unit and then say it couldn't connect. Is there any way to request a different server?
C'mon guys I did the simple stuff -
Yes I can ping the server, etc.
I didn't know if something had happened over the last few months that they would continue to assign work but not accept i back.
Due to surgery then getting back to work I've been kinda ignoring my Linux box which had been crunching along fine up till September and it seems that I've 9 WU built up on each instance.
I tried a -send all to clear and all I get is "can't connect to server". (171.64.65.56:8080)

Fry's has it for $180.
What's the folding community's thoughts on how fast this will fall?
I see them introducing the Core 2 Quad Q8200 for a $203 soon, do you think that I could find another Q6600 for say $150 by September?
I agree, I've got several computers that I fold on until the warranty runs out before I'm sure they are stable and I'll give them to my family :)
Would not want to pass out an unstable computer.
linky
And NOW fry's B&M
$179.99 for Q6600 & ECS G31T-M Motherboard (B&M ONLY - 1 DAY ONLY) ***HOT!***
note - when I searched on deals this thread did not show up,
I'm surprised no one has complained about the poll being about "boxen".
I'm buying (for work) quad processor, quad core servers. I just wish I could burn them in for the warranty period :) That's 16 fast cores in 1 boxen.
I've got at home an AMD 2500+ that's 1 slow core in 1 boxen.
Which...
Not to hijack this fun thread -
But does anyone run THEIR machines at HOME to earn legitimate money, and thus allow them to qualify for a tax writeoff?
For instance - do a CPU intensive render job for $500 and writeoff a quad core machine for $400.
That's one of my excuses also, but the live in son games 27 hours a day and I made the mistake of asking him in front of SWMBO if he'd like a quad for his birthday, if he'd fold.
He said no. Kid's got some lessons coming
How do you fund your fold?
I'm limited to stealing beer money. And that's for O'Douls.
I've got one borg worth about 100ppd with a son. The rest are excess cycles at home.
I'd like to start doing some GIS work that would require a stable of quads to flip bits when a job comes in. And fold...

I suspect you are an imposter -
Come in and complain about being a "noober" (normally it's noobie") and then a couple of hours later post a very good guide!!
I want a distro for headless folding combined with being a file server.
I need things like a minimal editor, VNC, samba, NFS, networking, rsync but don't give a darn about multimedia apps, dvd burning, etc.
Any recommendations?
I've been experimenting with backup tools, I hate losing a WU because of a reboot etc..
However this has grown beyond backing up my folding folder.
My goals are:
Compressed backup
Only the diffs
EASY RESTORE
Killer and others have posted batch files.
Is there any experience here with MS...
Taxes are done and 2GB of RAM have been added to my Dell 530 Q6600 (not taped or OC'd :( yet) time to diddle with the machine.
A few quick questions:
Is anyone running the new client, two instances, on a quad?
Is it still just install in two different directories and number them...
I've wrassled with Linux of and on since bld 0.92. I think it was a 10 floppy install, When Xubuntu came along I rejoiced at first but quickly found it lacking and switched to Kubuntu.
I had samba and vnc working, but in an attempt to get to console 0 I messed up something and now can't get...
A while back when I posted about the BSEL mod with tape (still can't believe it's that easy) I read a thread where the guy had one of the ECS G31's and it took the mod fine.
That said I keep saying I won't buy another ECS, and like a drunk, keep on buying them. Mainly because I get the...
I've two of the older type, each was about $16. The new one is a little fancier, one of the "neat" things is that it retains prior measurement, which the old one did not.
For someone who thinks a case just gets in the way of cooling, I don't need the fancy features.
OK, update -
Now FahMon is reporting a little bit better ppd for my 2 instances on 1 quad, but what's amazing is that on my AMD 2500+ with 1 regular fold on a 2606 it's saying 184ppd!! That's a 230% increase over the 80ppd 2 days ago.
points are getting flaky!
