It landed in a "wooded area" so it may have gone through a forest canopy, understory, bushes, etc. all of which may have slowed it down before it hit the ground. The story doesn't say where it happened so it's hard to know what the vegetation might have been like.
Ah, but if the console makers wanted to use them, the economy of scale provided by increasing SSD production to meet the demand would lower the price somewhat, plus, they don't pay retail.
So I'm very short on PCI-E and molex cables for my SLI 460s. FrozenCPU sells PCI-E cable splitters, 1 to 2. Is it possible to run a 460 with a single dedicated PCI-E cable from the PSU split into two? Thanks!
Any ideas on how to pull the individual wires out of the socket? They're very well secured. The pin layout on the OCZ (correct) molex cables (I have molex to PCI-E converters):
x o o
x o o
And the Antec cables I'm cannibalizing:
x o o
o o x
Maybe I'm just a weak girly man, but...
I guess I lost some of my old cables, I'm short one PCI-E cable and at least one molex cable for adding a second 460. PSU is a ModXStream 700W. What's the best way of acquiring new ones? OCZ was not helpful and won't sell/provide new ones. The last time I used cables from another PSU...
I'm missing some power cables and I'm trying to hook up SLI 460s. OCZ hasn't been much help, so if anyone has some extra (burned out PSU etc.) I'll take them off your hands if they're compatible with the 700W ModXStream.
I think other games might have some difficulty in being as successful with this as TF2 has been, simply because in TF2 items are pretty much anything goes and the game doesn't take itself too seriously. Thematic consistency is not a high priority. Also, most of the user-created items don't have...
I got hit by a car a few weeks ago, wouldn't have minded one of these. One additional function of the helmet is not just the impact protection but it makes your head "bigger" so your neck doesn't bend as far during an impact. My head was fine thanks to the helmet but my neck still hurt for a...
For pure bang for the buck the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ does well and runs about $30. You can add a second fan if you want to improve it further. I just installed one on my i7 860 and it let me get from 2.8GHz to a stable 3.9GHz without cracking 90C (shutdown temp on an i7 is 99C). Just make...
Success!
160BCLK 1.24V 3.37GHz Old Temp: 81C New Temp: 65C
175BCLK 1.24V 3.69GHz Old Temp: 91C New Temp: 70C
Note: Those temps are from 5 runs of IntelBurnTest and passed, though they probably aren't Prime95 stable without more voltage.

I'm not quite getting as much out of my i7 860 as I would like and I'm looking for suggestions, this is my first overclock since my old 939 Opteron 165. I intend for this rig to do a lot of folding.

i7 860 w/ Cooler Master Hyper 212+

The Windows ISO tool. http://store.microsoft.com/Help/ISO-Tool
As my current system is 32-bit XP I had to download bootsect.exe separately to make it bootable, but the ISO tool installed the ISO.
I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit from a USB drive to a SSD. I bought a license from Digital River, downloaded the ISO, put it on the flash drive and made it bootable. During installation it says it cannot find CD/DVD ROM drivers and prompts me to browse to them. I have no...
Yeah. I feel like a moron after trying to make these systems work for 3 days only to find out it was a power cord that looked identical to all the other power cords that caused the problem. At least I didn't kill the motherboard or processor.
In the process of building my new rig and moving the old one out of its case, I accidentally used an 8 to 6-pin PCI-E power cable with the wrong power supply to both of my eVGA GTX 460s (both were red capped and black sleeved). The sockets were the same but the pin layout was different, so I...
Well, I figured it out,it wasn't the motherboard or the PSU, but a power cable. As I was building a new system and moving the old system to a new case I had two PSUs. Between them I had a lot of 8-pin to 6-pin PCI-E cables lying around and since they all looked the same I used one from the wrong...
Bah. I must have been mistaken... switching the PSU doesn't seem to help. Seeing as one PSU was working yesterday and the other is brand new I'm thinking it's a motherboard issue, need to dive into the Asus forums now.
That appears to be the problem. Using another PSU seemed to work. I have no idea why the PSU that I've been using for about two years would not work in this new system, I didn't even take it out of the case. Unfortunately the other PSU that I have is an Antec 550W model I intended for a...

My case doesn't have a window, I don't open it very often and I can't tell you what the RAM I have at the moment looks like, but I don't think I could compute comfortably knowing RAM that looked like that was inside my case.
