Actually, it would house the server, two UPS, a Zenith BDR and some networking stuff.
You see, right now it's all on an open rack right in front of someone's desk. It's loud and they blow hot air right in his face, not to mention being an eyesore.
I figured if I enclosed it all in a cabinet...
I'm trying to relocate my server from out in the open into an insulated cabinet with venting.
Preferably something with a spot to mount an AC unit.
The goal here is to eliminate heat and noise. I've been digging around a ton online and I can't find anything that really fits my needs...
A: Verizon didn't have it. Or, if they did, I could not find it.
B: It's not the decision to buy the U204 that's bad, it's not even his lack of technical understanding, but it does make it frustrating to work on.
C: The old Italian reference was more to explain his preference of ring tone...
So, here's the deal:
The owner of our company is an old Italian guy, he does not do technology. So, of course he has a Motorola Vu204. This phone is garbage...Really, I mean like straight out of 1998.
Anyways, he really wants the Godfather theme song as his ring tone. But, as you probably...
You're wrong. Close, but wrong. It's a dimension 4550 (on the right). The left in the picture isn't running, it's being fixed for a friend. Next to that is an HP server, not in the pic though. And, I don't need an upgrade. The rig suits me just fine. A lot like my XP.
My thought was just to use Ubuntu. If I feel like getting rid of WS 2000. Seems like it does the job just fine and as mentioned above is easier to work with than Samba.
Still though, outside of just torrents I'm at a loss of what to do with this thing!
I have an extra server lying around, and I'm not sure what to do with it.
Here's the deal: I don't really need NAS or back-ups. All the other PCs are running XP Home so I really have no need for a domain controller. My cheap little router is successfully handling DHCP.
Here's the next...
I don't really ever see too many problem / help threads here at [H], but sadly I am nearing the end of my rope. I read the Forum Rules, and I saw nothing prohibiting it. So, hopefully someone here can lend me a hand.
Last weekend, my Dad called me and told me that he had spilled coffee in...
The 2100r is exactly the one we're looking at. I don't know how I missed your earlier post. Have you ever had to use the virtual server? If so, is the 30 minutes really accurate and do you lose any functionality?
If you don't mind; what did you pay for the 2100r?
What about Zenith's BDR: http://www.zenithinfotech.com/bdr_sol.asp
We're actually tossing around buying one of these today. The reviews I have read are pretty good.
I'm not a huge fan of the bevel on the logo. I think you're going for a 'shiny' effect, but I think you might better served by making the logo a little more reflective than beveled. Other than that it's pretty good. The colors seem to work well.
Has to be my Samsung Blackjack. When I got a 4GB micro flash, of course Windows Mobile 5 didn't recognize, so I had to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6, which was a pain in the ass.
It constantly drops calls.
The active Sync feature is buggy at best.
Windows Mobile Media Player is choppy and...
This is a temporary fix, IMO. But, Logitech's newest webcam software has a motion detection system built in. So, you could just go buy a $30 Logitech quickcam and set it up to record on motion.
You wouldn't be able to upload to Flikr or anything like that, but at least you would have a video...
It is pretty ghetto. the choice of beer makes it better. Personally I like it. I think I might go make a Milwaukee's Best Ice cooler for mine.

I just like to see people work with their Dell case. I say you got some balls to work with that in the first place. But, clean up the edges and maybe paint the whole thing too.
