    Obscure games that you loved

Does "Master of Monsters" count as obscure, or just forgotten? I was obsessed with that game for a long time. Turns out, after taking to Battle for Wesnoth much later on, I find out Wesnoth took most of its inspiration from MoM. Not surprising.

    Favorite adventure game

Tough to call a clear #1 here, but some of the contenders would be: Loom Kings Quest 3 (my first KQ game, kinda have a soft spot for it) Any Hero's Quest (do these count?) Longest Journey (may be a bit late for this list, dunno)

    THE CRASH OF FEB 2018

If you guys are able, I'd mine and hold on until the price increases. Convert to something solid that will be a sure bet (insofar as we get these) in the cryptoworld. If you can't afford to do that, there still is a good market for used equipment - hell, I'd buy a 1080ti at the right price...

    Just mine or trade?

Both are likely to up quite a bit this next year. It may well be that ETH will go up by more, but who really knows? It probably depends upon how the POS transition goes, and other major changes Ethereum has planned.

    Just mine or trade?

Depends how much time and energy you want to put into this. If you don't want to do a lot of evaluation of different projects, mine to a profitable one, convert to a safe long term hold, then wait. If you like to gamble a bit, and are willing to do some serious research, you can trade your way...

What longshot coins are you sitting on? Here's mine

Picked up some appc a few hours back. With the big coin burn and some marketing, it looks to be taking off. I don't know about this in the last night term, but over the next few weeks to months, it ought to rise. Decent team, working product, existing market base.

What longshot coins are you sitting on? Here's mine

I was sitting on some Neblio I had bought at $7 several weeks ago. Sold literally 30 minutes before its takeoff to Pluto to fund some other stuff. I thought I could turn a profit on something else and buy it back. Don't be like me, folks. If you do your research up front, ID good...

What longshot coins are you sitting on? Here's mine

In all likelihood, that's a rubric used to begin a discussion among the people who actually decide, and nothing more. I have not doubt they can overlook a "bad mark" in one area if there is a competing benefit in another area. If XRP is going to make them much more money than other competing...

Still more XRP than I've got, and I bought in at $.70. As for TRX, we might know a bit more in the coming days. Stupid competition with binance is over tomorrow, and code goes public on the 29th.

It'll probably sit there for a while then jump again when it hits Coinbase (if the rumors are true). I should have bought more when it was under $.70. TRON has been going crazy again. It's dropping sharply now, and will likely jump early tomorrow morning when it hits OKEX. Daytraders take...

“You Are Being Programmed,” Former Facebook Executive Warns

"We curate our lives around this perceived sense of perfection, because we get rewarded in these short-term signals: Hearts, likes, thumbs up," Palihaptiya said. "We conflate that with value and we conflate it with truth, and instead what it really is is fake, brittle popularity that's short...

Netflix Stole My VHS Cassette Photos for Its Stranger Things Boxed Set

If that "completely different way" is not enough to move from a "derivative work" to a "transformative work" in a courtroom, then the creation and distribution of that second photo involves copyright infringement. In the end, it's all about what the courts say. But there's no evidence he...

Netflix Stole My VHS Cassette Photos for Its Stranger Things Boxed Set

The objects in the photo are immaterial. He took the photo. Netflix stole the photo, allegedly. It's his rights over the use of the photo he is invoking. If Netflix took his photo and edited it, what they have created is a derivative work. Creation of derivative works is one of the 6 rights...

Netflix Stole My VHS Cassette Photos for Its Stranger Things Boxed Set

Sure, it could have been. But if this guy is right, the one Netflix chose was his, and this is a clear case of copyright infringement. You may think it's over the top, and so might I, but the law is clear enough. If he didn't register his photos, though, it might be a moot point anyway, as he...

    Dell 27" 144hz GSync, 1440p monitor - $349 @ Bestbuy

Thanks for the extra detail. Makes sense, as this monitor really seems to hit the sweet spot of cost and performance in all categories. I bought mine for $410 or so and don't regret it at all. "Going to" is a bit strongly worded. I haven't noticed this issue, and it seems I'm not the only one.

    Dell 27" 144hz GSync, 1440p monitor - $349 @ Bestbuy

I've had one of these for almost a year now. I actually went from a 1080 IPS panel to this guy. After a day or so, I didn't even notice the difference in color (during gaming use). While my experience is admittedly limited in this regard, it seems a much better TN panel than anything I've...

Google and Facebook Secret Algorithms Come Under US Govt. Fire

Interesting stuff. I'm not sure I know how I feel about how this could play out. On the one hand, access to information and control over who sees what has always been an area of compelling public interest. When monopolistic corporations control too much, it's worrisome. Government interest...

It's good you highlighted this. I'm aware that DrudgeReport is mostly linking out to others' work. My reason for not believing whatever I see on there, and my comment earlier, is precisely that no one at Drudge checks anything. The content on there is no more reliable than the original...

Yeah, not sure what, exactly, "free for one week after launch" implies. I suppose, as part of their "Creation Club," this stuff will all cost money. Damn, it's been nearly 6 years. Just make another ES game already, instead of finding new ways to charge for the old one.

The big exception being, of course, when this is impossible or not optimal. For example, you can't go back in time to witness an event. Barring a recording, you won't be able to do this yourself. Also, there are many types of information you and I are not qualified to analyze. It takes an...

Sure, but there are still better and worse ways to analyze this distinction. Plus, we'll never achieve consensus or certainty about any of this, but that's OK. That might be a bit strongly worded, but I think the sentiment is on target. Always approach everything with a skeptical eye, is...

Maybe. But here's a critical difference. I know that the NYT employs roughly 15 full time fact checkers, plus a host of freelance ones. I've seen the basic methodology they use. I have a certain, reasonably high level of trust, after seeing and experiencing all this, that their methodology...

Bias is always present, and objectivity is more an ideal to keep us grounded than a reality to achieve. There are harmful biases, and those that help. Google Now Hates Socialism Too

This is what we ought to be focusing on. By controlling access to information, you can control - to a large extent - what many people believe. Google is far from an extreme or radical case of this kind of control, but various decisions they have made in the past have had clear consequences...
