Thanks Raja:
Only AI Suite II latest version, as well as HW Monitor.
1) Could you recommend ONE program that I could use to measure and record overnight?
2) Is there a setting in the BIOS to turn OFF the PC if this 125C overheating *really* happens?
Thanks!
Tony
This is for Raja, the ASUS representative about the SABERTOOTH Z77. Other comments are welcome as well, of course.
Twice has my SABERTOOTH Z77 motherboard heated up to 125C as reported first by the previous version of AI Suite II, and now by the latest version too, as well as by HW Monitor...
Thanks to all, BTW :-)
Someone told me in a different forum that my HDD temps are too high. Do you agree? I posted the image to:

How about fan speeds for same MB?
CPU Fan: 760 PM
CPU Fan OPT: 1110 RPM
Assistant Fan 1: 4797
Assistant Fan 2 same as above
And what is CPU OPT?
Thanks
Tony
Thanks grambo for your reply.
The PC builder used that DRAM because I asked for it. Not sure if I made the right decision, but it was my choosing from their enormous selection.
Now, my main concern is to make this PC last as long as possible. My first mid-tower PC lasted 6 years; my...
Thanks again, BugginOuT:
Although I have not tried, I'm almost sure I can change the voltage for the DRAM from 1.65 to 1.5 via all the config options that are available in the Sabertooth Z77 ASUS MB's BIOS. I would not care if that meant decreasing the DRAM speed from 1600 to 1333. I'm sure I...
Thank you very much for your reply, BugginOuT:
There is NO overclocking.
My MB is an ASUS Sabertooth Z77 and the CPU is an Intel Core i-7 3770 and the RAM is 16GB of KINGSTON (4 x 4GB) XMP HyperX Genesis PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz CL9 1.65V SDRAM DIMM, Non-ECC
The ambient temp as I am...
Last week I received my brand new mid-tower PC from a "boutique" builder and for the first time I am paying attention to temperatures (and voltages, and fan speeds) so I am asking the forum if these temps look alright (all Centigrade):
CPU: 37
MB: 38
VCORE: 33
VCORE (Back): 31...
UPDATE. I need to be fair to HP:
After some thought, I went and bought a "bona fide" USB-3 WDC external drive (0.5TB) and voila! The number went all the way up to 74 MB/s! Which means that the ports are real USB-3 and also that the Icy Dock enclosure is, well, "bad".
Thanks for all your help, mwroobel .
I appreciate it. I am almost convinced that HP is skimming in its USB ports.
What I didn't mentioned before is that I have a low-cost HP/AMD mid tower that behaves exactly like that with its USB-2 ports. Very low speed with all of them.
I think this should...

Thanks mwroobel & drescherjm:
Yes I have uptadet everything in the laptop. I have been a professional programmer for 37 years (before the Internet) and I know how to measure simple hard disk drive speeds,
I may have been had by HP for the first time....
I just bought an HP laptop with AMD 4-core processor (price was a consideration) and 650 GB hard drive and I was so 'excited' that with two USB-3 ports (in addition to two USB-2 ones) I would finally be able to perform my backups much faster than now.
Well, I used my trusted utility HDTune to...
Thanks guys; that was what I was anticipating.
Which brings me to the following observation.
If mechanical drives are nowhere near saturating SATA III, why are vendors of such drives (like WD with their Raptor and Caviar Black 6Gb/s drives, but other manufacturers too) touting their new...
I will be getting a new custom PC with two eSATA III (6Gb) ports on the Sabertooth Z77 mobo.
Right now I have a 4-year old DX38BT mobo with two eSATA II (3Gb) ports happily connected to two 1TB drives which I bought bare bones and put in an enclosure bought separately, with, of course, eSATA...

What does "USB 3.0 x 2 (internal)" mean when applied to the "I/O Panel" of a chassis, as in
http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=3076&product_name=CM%20690%20II%20Advanced%20%28nVidia%20USB%203.0%20version%29
If the connectors are right on the I/O panel (are they?), how...
Considering that the SABERTOOTH Z77 does not have a PCI slot (only PCIe), does that mean that I cannot buy a PCI sound card like some of theSoundBlasters? Can I only use PCI Express (1 or 2) sound cards with that motherboard? I don't know (and that's why I am asking) if those PCIe's are...
If all I want is a new tower PC, is there any special consideration for a full ATX vs Micro ATX mobo that I should be concerned about?
I will be having the new PC built to spec by one "boutique" PC builder.
Thanks.
I am happy to to report that "all's well that ends well"... :-) I had to remove the power cord for logistical reasons that don't matter and so I was EXTRA careful with the potential static electricity.
This is my first SSD and it replaced a Velocy Raptor 150GB which was the system disk and...
In the *desktop* installation instructions of Intel's new 320 SSDs, they state that prior to install the drive, to turn the desktop OFF (duh!).
But what I don't understand is why the also say to leave the desktop *plugged in*?
What if I don't? Will it fry the SSD later when it's plugged in...
