So, my 3770K rig is getting a bit long in the tooth and I keep waffling back and forth on whether to upgrade it or not. It's primarily used for gaming, with the occasional video edit and I'm just not entirely sure there would be enough of a performance increase just yet.
What I've got now...
So my wife made an impulse buy awhile back and got a first-gen Surface RT. It makes an excellent paperweight, but that's really about all she's able to use it for.
All she ever really does with the thing is play Flash-based games on Facebook. It chugs bad on anything Flash related. I've...
I'm building a new rig in a couple days and the SSDs got here before everything else. So I couldn't resist pulling my Velociraptors out and putting the SSDs in.
I've been giggling incoherently since the first time I ran CrystalDiskMark.
This is on my P5Q Pro, so I can't wait to...
So I've decided I'm sick of hauling my watercooled HAF-932 around and I want something more portable. Translation: I want an ITX gaming rig. :D
Let's get these out of the way:
1. What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming, Photoshop (or other intensive programs), Overclocking, Web...
I'm still running the rig in my signature, that I built almost four years ago. Think I can still get away with video card upgrades a few more times, or do I need to bite the bullet and build a completely new one?
EDIT: I don't do nearly as much gaming as I used to, but I'm looking at...
I can't use these because of an apparent compatibility issue with my motherboard. I even went so far as to have Corsair replace them under warranty and had the same issues with the new stuff. Switched over to the G. Skill RAM I have now and everything works fine.
I have two of these for...

I've never really cared much about cable management....until now.
This is the rat's nest I currently have to deal with inside my Antec 900.
I can never seem to get the inside of my case looking as nice as a lot of them I've seen on here and I'd like to know what I'm missing. I'm sure...
I'm considering upgrading the computer in my sig to the following:
Old:
Asus P5K-E P35 chipset motherboard (only has one x16 slot and the other one is x1)
GeForce 8800GTS (Older 640MB version)
New:
Asus P5E X48 chipset MB
Two Radeon 4850s in CF
Everything else is staying the same...
Have any of you ever tried to RMA a processor that's been overclocked with Intel? I realize overclocking voids the warranty, but do they have any way to tell for sure that it was overclocked?
Ergo, would I be wasting my time trying to RMA a dead processor that's been overclocked?
Ya know, I used to swear Gigabyte boards were worthless, then the P965-DS3 got all these great reviews and I decided to give them another shot. Turns out my initial impression of them is correct. As I pack the thing up for it's third RMA in less than a year, I decide I don't want to be out of...
Motherboard: Foxcon 6150K8MA (GeForce 5150/nForce 430 chipset)

I've been having some strange issues with...
Okay, I've got two machines that are newly built, one AMD, one Intel.

AMD Machine
Athlon 64 3000+
Foxconn Winfast 6150K8MA
nForce 430 + GeForce 6150 onboard video
2GB Kingston PC-3200
Netgear WG311T

I'm looking for some heatsink suggestions for cooling the northbridge on my DS3. I've got an SI-128 on the CPU, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of something that will fit for the NB along with it.
I've got my E6420 seemingly stable at 3.6GHz (6+ hours with one instance of Orthos to load...
I want to swap the stock heatsinks off the chips and need some suggestions and where I can buy them.
I'm going air cooled and noise isn't that big of an issue. Gotta have something to drown out the nieghbors...
I assume the all-important MCH I've read about is also on one of these two...

Am I correct in assuming that that means if I buy it and install it on my computer, then put a different motherboard processor and RAM in, I can't continue to use it?
Like new Zen Vision M. I only used it two or three times and am looking to sell it to someone who may get more use out of it. It was purchased in February and is still under warranty, but works fine. Screen has no scratches and still has the screen protector on it that it shipped from the...
Okay, so I finally stuck an x2 3800+ in my machine last night. I've been playing with making unattended Windows XP install CDs. I burned one right before I put the new CPU in, then realized I had forgotten to fix a typo in my winnt.sif file. Went to burn a new one after making the changes and...
Okay, I currently have the following.
DFI LAN Party UT NF SLI-DR motherboard.
Athlon 64 3200+ that will do around 2.3GHz stable and 2.5GHz stable for about 6-7 hrs.
1GB (2x512MB) OCZ EL Platinum Rev 2 PC3200.
GeForce 7800GTX
Ive decided its time for an upgrade, and Im not gonna jump...
I'm thinking about upgrading my video card, but I'm not sure if I'd actually see much difference.
Given the following specs:
Athlon64 3200+ (nForce4 SLI chipset)
1GB RAM
Windows XP
Everything else unimportant in this instance.
How big of an improvement would I see with the 8600GTS vs...
Anybody know where I could get my hands on two 512MB sticks of this stuff anymore? http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_el_ddr_pc_3200_dual_channel_platinum_rev_2
Either that or something that uses the same chips and/or can handle the same timings at 400MHz.
It's upgrade time. I'd be moving my 7800GTX, DVD burner and hard drives from my current system over and getting a bigger power supply.
Here's my two choices for the rest of the stuff:
AMD
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-M59SLI-S5 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2...
I'm considering upgrading from my A64 3200+ to a dual core and since the Opty's are a little easier to find for s939 right now, I was wondering if this would make much of a difference?
For example: If I have an Opteron and an X2 at the same clock speeds and cache sizes, is there any...
Stock speeds:
Core: 470MHz
Memory: 1200MHz
Bought it from Newegg on 8/24/06 to be the second card in an SLI rig. Lost my job and need to pay bills. I haven't even gotten a chance to overclock it... :(
Asking $225.00 shipped. OBO
I need the 256MB version. One of the slower first gen ones will be fine, as it's going alongside a 450/1200 version.
Let me know what you've got and how much you want for it.
Edit: typo.
I've got a 7800GTX running dual monitors and I was wondering, if I stuck another, lower end GeForce in my second PCIe slot, like maybe a 6600 or so, and plug my third monitor into that, would it work alright?
Looking for a decent motherboard for my old AXP 2500+. Preferably KT400/nForce 2 or better chipset. Doesn't need the extra stuff like firewire, RAID, etc...
PM me if you've got something.
So what's the best performing PCIe video card out there for $150.00 or less? Friend of mine's updating from an AGP board to an A64 nForce 4 board and doesn't have the budget for a high-end card.
Apparently they don't make drivers for the one I've got now. It doesn't have Linux drivers available either, so it's time to get a new one.
Anyone know of one available right now that has 64-bit drivers?
Okay. Time to update my system.
I currently have the following:
Athlon XP 2500+ @ 2.04GHz
AGP GeForce 6600GT @ 580/1020
512 MB Corsair XMS 3200 that has gone bad and won't run above ~360MHz
Asus A7N8X Deluxe.
I'm trying to choose between the following. (prices are from newegg.)...
