My bad for disappearing from the forum guys.
Don't know if it's totally legit, but I got some emails from several suppliers for all kinds of price ranges for the panel after making an inquiry here

this sony AMOLED panel can be found I believe for a few hundred dollars. I haven't gotten a hold of the datasheet yet, but I wonder if existing lvds->hdmi adapters from ebay can drive this panel.
Anyone have any...
^^As far as monitors go,
I believe the samsung oled tablet displays use that mobile variant display port connection (forgot its name), so it can be used as monitor if hacked. I guess no one has tried this? The screen is rather small at 10.5"..
you're right, a 5120x2880 27" monitor probably won't be made for a long time, if ever. But for sure they will release a "retina" variety of the iMacs, and I'm guessing it's soon.
Viewing distance is important, of course, but with 120PPI monitors, the text (browser, UI elements) doesn't look...
that's what i was saying when i heard of the rumors on the ipad 3's 2048x1536 resolution on a 10" display.
it's possible, and we should all have ultra high res monitors pretty soon. with the way windows does things now (i think), it's not that great. OSX scaling scaling is wonderful, though...
Hi,
I love VA monitors for their high contrast. The old S-PVA monitors and samsung tvs are just great.
The dell 2440l looks great, but whats up with this? (from tftcentral review)
I remember S-PVA having no glow in black screen but only gamma shift at angles. Are all new VA monitors like...
Yeah,
I've given up on even caring for these "next generation" displays. Many years ago when SED was unveiled, I was excited. Also during the initial OLED hype. Shit's never gonna arrive.
I'm pretty content with my Plasma tv and IPS monitor. The new ones are good enough.
From what I've read, these different korean monitors employ the same pre-made parts and do not throw in their own LED lighting solutions as that is part of the package from LG. The PCBs from the picture look decent. It's definitely not low-tier. Also check out the PCBs from all your electronics...
For the issue of burn in, just remember that it's not an issue with the OLED displays found in phones and the vita. Maybe some other weird issues with "blotches", but I haven't seen burn in from the samsung phones i've played with. Phones should be really susceptible to burn in, right.
If you prefer the image you have now, matte screen and all, go with the dell. if you want more real estate and slightly higher pixel density and gloss screen, the korean monitors seem a great choice. i would go for the korean monitor in the middle :p
Not true since there is a HighDPI mode under OSX that will scale things correctly, so this rumored resolution would work well with the 2560x1440 HighDPI mode. Format would appear the same, text would be a lot cleaner, high res graphics would look nice, and low res graphics would be scaled. Just...
man, i thought my vita was the only one with unevenness/blotches when it displays a complete black image. and yes, the color shift is noticeable. however, the contrast is definitely better than most mobile displays, but not better than the high end samsung phones.
i think the OLED in the vita...
haha, why call it that? :D CRTs are great...if they're in new like condition
speaking of OLED, the OLED screen on the ps vita is aight. not as cool as i thought it would be. i don't know if mine is faulty, but it appears to have image retention (or some other spots) and the black level is not...
Another seriously good looking stop motion movie is the Wallace and gromit bluray collection. A lot of new 2d animation look great, too. The recent lion king BR release has fantastic audio and video
Yo jctusmc03,
I use arcsoft and screen saver doesn't activate when watching movies. i didn't need to do any settings...i have an old radeon 5450 passive card. i don't think you'd have to have a setting for that...but did you figure anything out?
btw, for hooking this tv up to a pc, i'm pretty...
YO, that Kuro is HOT!
I used to also have a sony CRT..the lower res xbr970. Right now I have a 2011 panny st30 and before an old panny 10uk. The 2011 panasonics are great, and I don't think I will upgrade for a long time...when OLED are well established.
To the original poster,
check out the...
I don't know why you would use a plasma tv up close like you would with a pc monitor. Anyway, plasmas are far, far better than other flat panel tvs when it comes to motion. Obviously not as good as CRTs but new sets have minimal phosphor trailing.
I have an st30 Panasonic, and console...
Holy crap that's why I want a high res monitor. Being able to fit a lot of stuff without multimonitors, or being able to fit a ridiculous amount of content with two of those :D 200ppi should be great for cad drawings, photos, whatever
i'm sorry you didn't understand what i was trying to get across. those used to a full screen browser on a normal resolution monitor probably won't like the appearance of a full screen browser on a higher resolution monitor. also, if you're the type to keep things windowed up for efficiency, you...
blackbeard is totally right. there is a large enough demand for this, and it's going to increase as people like myself see the clarity on their phones and want the same thing on their desktop monitors. i'm pretty sure it's easy for the lcd guys to manufacture a 22-24" monitor at 2560x1600. and...
that's true, but i don't think anyone wants things to stay the same for the next 10 years. websites get redesigned all the time anyway, and better design methods/tools will be common a while after higher dpi monitors start trickling in. they have to exist first.
whether or not you get blurry scaling now, i'm sure in the future things will get better, but there have to be higher dpi monitors first. you can get a 15" laptop at 1920x1080, so why not 24 or 22 @ 2560x1600? these would still have a lower dpi than the 15" laptop with 1920x1080 rez. a straight...
so you upgraded from an spva? i am interested in this one too. currently, my spva lp2275w is pretty impressive with blacks and contrast, but i'm looking for a glossy display at a reasonable price. i just wish this thing had the option to hook up a different stand :o
