As far as I could tell it's straight Nvidia reference Ti's.
Still a good deal for the card. Can always throw their replacement plans on one or two and go to town Ocing,
Rather not have to mess with calibration software lol.
It seems R100 G85 and B73 seems to be pretty good.
I seem to like my Brightness higher though around 75 and contrast 55.
What settings is everyone finding to look the best?
I've tried default settings and upping the brightness to 75 and contrast to 60. DCR off and Standard color.
Picked one of these up the other day,
First one had a signal loss issue. The second one is working great. Tera, BF3, D3, WoW all work and look awesome.
I also don't get a screen until windows loads. My way around this is just keeping a VGA cable with the dvi adapter connected and swap when...
I really don't need one this second, just haven't kept up on speeds.
I know a single platter 500gb blue is faster than my 640gb two platter.
Thought not by much.
I may wait then. I just know it's going to be a while before prices are normal and wasn't sure if I should jump on a lower...
Right now I have a 64GB Agility 2 I use as my boot drive (and WOW)
My main drive after that is a WD6400AAKS (WD 640GB Blue)
At the time, the blue 640gb was one of the faster drives.
Lately I've been thinking of grabbing another 500-1tb drive incase my blue goes out. Seeing as prices are...
I understand why people are buying 5+ of these, but at the same time I don't.
No one will be able to flip these for more than maybe $50-100. No support on the hardware side, and from what I understand webOs will still be supported to a point.
Regardless, my buddy at work got one and said...
Apparently that was a re post on SD.
The deal actually started this last Sunday. Nothing in stock at my local Toys R us.
I guess people were going in and buying it all then trying to resell on Cl etc.
Some stores may have stuff left.
Played HoN until they wanted $30 for it. Still a great game but most of my friends migrated to LOL.
I enjoy both but can't see a big enough difference between them to keep up with both.
At $10 however, if you haven't played it now is the time.
We sell these at work and they sound great. $150-160 is at cost so it's a great deal.
Only thing I would compare them to are the Logitech Z2300's. I think the actual speakers on these sound a bit better. The sub is clean from what I can tell. Only listened to them once or twice.
Built well also.
For those who missed it in their email etc
Newegg has the PC power and cooling 910W Power supply for $119.99 after MIR and Promo code. Seems like a decent deal...
Yea, I checked what Microcenter had but they didn't really have any 23"s I liked.
That and between Tax and wanting to use the Newegg card I just went with one I thought looked ok.
Someday I plan to buy some nicer monitors but lately I'm strapped on cash.
Thanks for the replies.
I ended up ordering the Asus because I still had a $20 Customer Care Gift Card to Newegg. (expires in a few days) So that brought it down to $150 out the door then a $20 MIR (I can add rushing to for $2, Idk why I'm excited about this lol)
Is it that bad in comparison...
I recently built my girlfriend a new computer and am in the middle of talking her into a new monitor.
She currently uses my old Hyundai L90D+ (4:3, 19")
I looked around on the Egg but am also considering Microcenter as it's very close and seems to sell some "ok" monitors.
Anyway, her budget...
With some of the 470's sitting at $200 or less, I'm not sure it would be worth it for me.
Then again, I hit the BF deal for one at $158. If these were $300 it would be more tempting imo.
Thanks for the replies.
I think I've got mine running cool enough. I ran Furmark for 30mins and it got up to 87c.
And with kombuster after 30minutes it ran at 76c.
I think overall it's running cool enough. If It doesn't go past 70c in BC2 at the settings I like I'm not going to worry...
Rossi - What model are you using? And is that with stock cooling?
Your fan profile looks really similar to what I have mine at,except I have it at 40% fan speed idle then climbing up.
Ah gotcha.
I think my plan is to leave the stock cooler on and not OC it for a while.
Any game I play atm will play fine with it at stock. I could probably bump it up to 700mhz and it would still be fine with the stock cooler.
I did run in to a problem years ago trying to replace a 9500 pro's...
I like furmark, but I'm not looking to find it's max temp just yet =)
Going to play with it for a week or so then maybe tinker around with it.
How easy are the aftermarket coolers to put on? If I'm not hitting 80c I'm not as worried, but just out of curiosity?
Just played some BC2, 1900x1200, 4aa/Af, mostly medium settings with a few set to high.
Ran 69c at the highest, and stuck around 67 for the most part. Also got 60 fps in most places on the map with drops to 48.
@ requiem99
I agree with what you are saying.
I think I'm going to leave the profile at that for now. I don't think any games I play atm will take it above 75c, even on higher settings.
I would have to think any video card running at temps of 80-100 for a long period of time wouldn't live...
Well, I ran Kombuster with some different profile settings in afterburner.
I basically put, 35c = 40% and another node for 80c = 75%, and let it scale.
Running kombuster it didn't go above 72c with those settings, and 75% fan speed is about all the higher I'd go without being annoyed. May...
Nice!
I guess my only question is, should I set a fan profile in msi afterburner such as, 40c = 40% fan speed, and one other point for 70c = 75% fan speed, then it will scale between those depending on temp?
Or should I just set it to 60-70% at all times?
Curious what temps other people get at stock with this thing? (idle and load)
Also, what do you keep your fan speed at?
I recently bought the MSI 470 (Black friday deal) and at idle it seems go between 47-55c.
I have about 6 main fans in my case and have them facing the correct ways etc. So...
Is the 5870 the sapphire that was on sale for $215?
If so, reviews looked like it didn't get much past 900mhz. Though I could be wrong.
I also ended up with the 470, but only because I got it for $158 after MIR.
Both seemed very even from what I read. I've always used ATi and figured...
Asking for a friend.
She currently games at 1600x900
She is looking to upgrade from her 9600GT and has about $150.
I suggested a gtx 460, and I know if she is lucky she can snag a 1gb model for around that, but should she just go with a 768mb model instead?
Receiving my Vibrant today and now I'm in the same situation after reading this thread. Still can't decide because there are so many options.
Both Whiskey and Axura look promising. Assuming both have 2.2 correct?
I forgot to add in the %10 code also (since it wasn't on the product page at 12am)
I called this morning and she got it in for me.
$158 470 is pretty hard to beat atm.
They are pretty good about applying coupon codes then?
They open up at 5:30 PT, so what is that in central, 7:30? Guess I could wake up early and harass them?
