Now after a couple of years with the stock Q6600 , I decided to give it a shot in overclocking
Screenshot
How am I doing? Any tips?
*CPU-Z reads 1.288V <->1.296V on idle ,
*Idle temperatures 38 C <-> 40 C
*Load temperatures 58 C <-> 60 C
*Any voltage lesser than that , core 3 starts...
I came down to these 2 and i feel i'm going in a loop!

-Intel Core2 Duo processor P8800
-1GB ATI Radeon HD 4650

Hello
First time to get into overclocking , i have Q6600 processor with asus maximus x38 , my target is 3.2 Ghz for a start. cooling with zalman 9700 fan
here comes the noob question :o
i ran prime95 and i had 1 error on the 4th core after 1 hour while other 3 cores ran fine till i...
Im really confused what to choose , the logitech new G15 or Microsoft Sidewinder X6 . I already excluded some due to large size (G11 and old G15)
My first priority is durability. I read some comments that logitech G15 keys get loose and Microsoft keyboards letters fade out early, if anyone...
Going 20" instead of 22" will decrease bleeding effects?
It seems most 22" are TN , i don't mind the 2" if i can get a better panel at 20" , can anyone recommend one if they exist?
Please no CRT
or 19x10 LCDs unless you can send me a 9800GX2 :p
Thanks in advance
I m just not sure if 9800GTX is worth +100$ over a 8800GTS... i hope some real benchmarks show up soon...unless the ones now is real , i think i ll just get the GTS.
That buy.com offer +crysis looks good to me :p
After reading how things work
256 bit = 32 bytes
32 bytes * 2200 MHz = 70.4 GB/s
you can go wrong with one info but not a typo with both 2200 and 256!
or if 256 bit is the typo
nearest to 128 GB/s is 448 bit but it doesn't sound right to me for a price of ~300$
Sorry if its a noob question
Can memory bandwidth be doubled that easily with just higher clock speeds :confused:
8800GTS -- 62.1 GB/s

vs
9800GTX -- 128 GB/s

Thought it increases...
Since your considering an ASUS motherboard-->
ASUS claims that most of its p35/x38 motherboards support 1600 fsb with bios updates, so if you get your 800 DDR2 MHz RAM x 2 Dual Channel = 1600 FSB you can make sure if you ever need to over clock , your RAM will handle the motherboard's max...
DDR3 not that bad as it used to be , high performance plat edition OCZ DDR3 - 1333 - 2 Gbs
for 250$ compared to 70$ DDR2 - 800 , however you can go Intel DX38BT mobo for 230$ vs Asus X38 280$
this somehow makes the ram 250$ ddr3 vs 120$ ddr2... double price!
Aren't these 4 MBs extra cache on Q9450 better than having an avg. overclock difference of 350 mhz for gaming? and SSE4 for video encoding?
Not sure what are you using the quad for, but Q9450 looks better in both ways to me :p
getting a Corsair 550W VX for a similar setup with less components
one rail 12 v @ 41 amps
ATX 2.2
two PCI-E connectors
Active power correction or whatever the thing is :P
from what i understood from reading the last 3 days
3 rails PSU
19 A , 19 A , 19A
if you connect processor...
