I work for a tiny company. My main role is NOT network or IT-related, but I've been tasked with this project. We've used inexpensive consumer routers for NAT and simple firewalling. We do not have any internet-facing applications, no VOIP, no VPN, and I am not overly concerned about...
(Posted over at SPCR as well. But I'm thinking [H] members may have more experience / insight on this issue.)
I bought a single-platter 500GB seagate 7200.12 about a year ago. It's been OK until about 2 months ago - I noticed it making some rather loud clicking noises. But they would come...
I want to buy 2 of the Cooler Master 4-in-3 HDD sub-chassis (image of Google-cached CM store page) that comes stock with the Centurion 590. I don't want the new one with the 4 large rubber grommets. I want the old one with small rubber grommets for each individual drive.
These were...
Folks,
Need storage advice for my company's server.
I'm looking at this HP ML150. Newegg has it for $799, which seems like an awesome price.
We're upgrading from a ML330 G3
single 2.8GHz Xeon
3GB RAM
HP SmartArray 641 w/32MB cache
three 36.4GB 10k RPM U320SCSI drives, RAID5...
This is not your typical "cordless phone WLAN interference" problem. My Cordless phone kills my DSL / WAN link for about 30 seconds when taking/making calls. It comes back online after that, even if I'm still on the same call. This thread was the inspiration for mine, although his problem...

My home file server consists of the following:
1) Biostar A760G-M2+ motherboard
2) AMD 4050e Athlon64 x2
3) Kingston 2GB 533MHz DDR2 ECC (P/N: KVR533D2E4K2/2G)
That's ECC memory. The A64's memory controller supports ECC. The board supports ECC in BIOS. But Biostar adamantly denies it...
Ladies & gents,
Found this 15 year old SGI rack cabinet on craigslist. Seller is asking $100 for it.
Despite the age it looks in great shape. It's definitely funky looking. It's got that late 90's robotech look like all SGI stuff did back then. Front and raer doors, and both sides are...

Current server is a HP ML330 G3 with a single Xeon @ 2.8 Ghz, 3GB ram, Raid5 consisting of three 15krpm Ultra320 SCSI drives. OS is Windows 2000 Server.
Our current CPU...
