I like it. I had played through Batman halfway on my GTX280s but I quit when I got my 5xxx series cards because it just wasn't the same. Now I'l finish it with my 480s.
Ultimately though a lot of what physx does could easily be done by the CPU, which is underutilized in a lot of games for...
Edit the title to make it less scary. My first thought on reading it was "oh shit, they're banding together like the RIAA to pwn bittorrenters." That would have made me very sad.
Meh, if I don't like them I'll put them on ebay. I already have the best ATI has to offer (5970+5870) so it would be stupid to buy the 480s unless they were legitimately better. I think they will correct a lot of the annoyances and bottlenecks ATI's cards have.
You're just coming off badly now. The GTX480 is the flat out better card for features and performance. On average it's already 15% faster on launch drivers, scales better in sli, more memory so less likely to bottleneck, and allows for things like physx, much better tessellation performance, and...
Would you mind answering a few questions so I know what to expect?
-Are the cards slotted next to each other?
-Did you manually adjust the fan speeds to get the best cooling?
-What are load temps like playing a fairly stressful game but with vsynch on keeping the load down a bit?
ty if...
This problem drives me insane. Probably 3/4 of games some moron grabs the UAV before I even spawn and gets it shot down within 30 seconds. Whereas it's not out of the ordinary for me to go like 20-0 with the UAV while keeping half the other team spotted the entire match.
Also,
3. Lots of people don't know about bing cashback so tiger direct's price appears high when it's actually the cheapest
4. Maybe tigerdirect just got a shitload of galaxy cards in.
Are they ok overclocked running next to each other in sli with air cooling? And any idea if overclocking without overvolting increases their power draw much?
Yeah, I know it's VRAM/framebuffer/etc but knowing what causes the problem doesn't make it go away. Some games like Crysis will have problems even with 0x AA at 2560. The problem occurs to a lesser degree in a LOT of games, I just posted FC2 because it's the most obvious example and the game...
The scaling on the 5xxx series is not bad at all, but I'm certainly tired of this shit (5870+5970):
They seem to get bogged down at high resolutions even if they might theoretically have more power than 2x 480. I'm swapping my setup since I think the 480s will give the better overall...
I have a Diamond 5970 and XFX 5870 for sale. Both of these cards are clean/well taken care of and I have run the fans generously and kept vsynch turned on so they have been used with 70-75c temps when I've gamed on them. Prices assume you can pay me some way where I won't be incurring fees. Ebay...
Are you still going to be around 1.5 years from now though? HardOCP sponsors come and go. Also, can you say if these GTX 480 cards have deviated from the reference design in any way? The 8800GT was quite the debacle judging by my own experience and the comments on ncix.
Man, I have 2 in my cart and I'm struggling about whether to pull the trigger or not. Can't decide if they'll give a better overall experience than 5970+5870 trifire. I think the trifire is probably around 15% faster on average (taking my OC into account) based on my best guess from looking at a...
Umm, underdeveloped countries get great prices on games, such that people can afford to sell legitimate copies of them on ebay for $15-$20. America shouldn't be subsidizing software development costs for the rest of the world. Publishers only fuck us in the ass on software prices because we let...
Woah, wtf happened? I quit WOW a long time ago but shamans definitely weren't the worst class when I played.
I guess it was around the time the PVP point system first got introduced, but I remember dominating as a shaman, like top 5 on the server. It wasn't even funny...I was...
That's flat out wrong. Most people maintain some level of political correctness out of expediency, but the movement's origins are entirely leftist.

A bunch of left-wing journalists coming down against free speech? I'm shocked, truly shocked. They're all for free speech until they decide that they don't like the content of the speech.
Never really understood this attitude. It has consistently been best to buy the new generation intel processors very shortly after they come out. They're not expensive and it takes them a long time to depreciate. By waiting you actually make it more expensive per month used. The only benefit to...
LOL, look at you getting all upset because someone got called out for the equivalent of bragging about winning the special olympics. A full 34% of Americans are obese, and another 32.7% are overweight. Being in the normal range of a pathetic population like that is not something to strive...
Eight hours is on the extreme high side, but who cares? Your noobishness gave you extra hours of enjoyment out of the game. Regardless of how you count the hours, MW2 was maybe 60% as long as MW1, which was already a very short fps. And I don't think it's a stretch to say that expansion packs...
If you were looking at just 1 480, I think I'd go 5970. But I probably would have swapped out my 5970+5870 for 2xGTX480 if they weren't too hot to run next to each other in sli. For multi gpu on 30 inchers like we have, I think Nvidia will emerge the clear winner after drivers are refined.
This is more like an expansion pack than a new game. $20-$30 would normally be about right but with all the features cut it's really only worth about $10-$15. You're basically buying a 3.5 hour single player campaign since the multiplayer is worthless.
2560 monitors already lead to bottlenecks in some games. Some of it is 1GB cards and some is framebuffer/bus. It's already hard enough to keep games maxed and above 60fps at 2560 and those bottlenecks are even worse on eyefinity with more pixels. So the question is if you care about framerates...
What's your point? The 5970 shows that the PCIE spec is pretty arbitrary, and similarly, a cutoff of "more wattage than an OCed 5970" is also arbitrary. You or I don't really have a clue about what the real cutoff point for wattage is.
I got about a 15% gain on average at stock speeds when I went from a 8800GT to an 8800GTS. The GTS is a bit faster clock for clock and has a higher clock speed. It also seems to overclock better too, mine hit like 815 or something like that. You should get either another 8800GTS, or a 9800GTX.
You can get The Saboteur on ebay for like $20. In fact, pretty much any PC game can be had for $30 or less if you wait a couple weeks after it comes out. Paying MSRP is like making a charitable donation to D2D.
People get fatter when they get older. Was there some point you were trying to make? Just being within a "normal-range" doesn't mean somebody isn't fat, particularly when the median American is borderline obese.
LOL, too bad all those workouts and specially prepared meals aren't going to make you any taller. And sorry broseph, 18% bodyfat is fat for a male. Not obese, but fat.
