I have a 7850, and only the top dvi port is dual link. You *could* buy an active displayport to dvi adapter though (last time I checked they were expensive).
I wouldn't say that. In general, graphics cards have had longer lifespans because of the fact that a lot of games are limited to the performance of their respective consoles. Hence why NVIDIA has been trying to branch out into mobile chipsets/SOC's.
True that they have only a few locations. Then again, I've never been to a Fry's, nor are there any near me....
My microcenter in NoVA is OOS of the spinpoint F4, Barracuda 7200.11, and Hitachi 1.5 tb drives.
Honestly, the price hike made me make a decision to upgrade to a better drive...
Not bad...but I think the Hitachi 2 tb 7200 rpm 64 mbs of cache for $120 was a better deal :D. Makes my old Segate 1.5 TB (the "freezer") look archaic :D.
Honestly, with hard drive prices rising exponentially, SSD's are becoming cheaper than traditional hard drives. My old core 2 quad would benefit substantially from a SSD (as well as future builds).
At the microcenter I was at, they seemed to still be decently stocked. They just had the limit of only any two hard drives per order/day, and the limit of only one type/model each (per person).
There must be some serious price gouging going on. Microcenter is now selling a Hitachi 2 tb hard drive (tomorrow...) for $209.99 (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0356678). I got the drive this evening for $119.99. That is a one day increase of $90 . On...
Honestly, if I was going to upgrade, I was going to stick with the 5850. I had no issues with maxing out (excluding crazy ammounts of AA), for nearly all of today's games...
Another heads up...apparently they shipped me a U2211H (16:9 E-ips) monitor instead of a refurbished 2209wa....I wonder if they have ran out 2209wa lemons to give me :D
Recently my 2209wa decided to kick the bucket. Apparently the power supply failed (was not silent to begin with). This is my third replacement. My original monitor had its liquid crystal display fail (backlight worked), and the second one had its power indicator fail.
On my first replacement 2209wa (my original's lcd matrix died). Recently, the power indicator light on my monitor went out, or flickers. Is it worth getting it replaced again to fix this problem. I'm leaning on keeping this monitor, because the problem seems so minor....
Ironically my ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus (hybrid nvidia chipset board) is still working strong.......not the best motherboard, but I've had worse (VIA chipset based MB's *shudder*).
I wasn't exactly planning on making a eyefinity setup. If I was, all I would need is a dp to active dvi adapter. Just because it is the lowest price, doesn't mean it isn't a good monitor.
Dell mentioned that the f stand for it being manufactured by foxconn....that would mean the ones made in mexico or in Czech Republic woudn't have that. Thanks for mentioning that as well.
Sounds good.....My original 2209wa (actually a 2209waf, made by foxconn; A01 made in April). Worked great until the matrix decided to give way. Dell sent a replacement refurbished monitor, also A01, made in August. Doesn't seem to be any problems with the replacement. Curious question, will the...
I have to give a thumbs up for the 2209wa for amateur photo editing, and gaming. There may be a slight lag compared to say a 2ms (GTG) TN.....but very slight. The only disadvantage is that it is a smaller resolution than 1080p, thats on monitors currently.
Odd the 2209wa hasn't been on sale for that price since early fall last year. Also, love the 2209wa, had mine since may 09, until last week the lcd matrix crapped out.....
That is just the way shipping is......hence why those type of things have to be packed very well. Then again, I've never attempted to ship a CRT via Fedex or UPS.
Let me guess, its this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-GDM-FW900-24-inch-CRT-Monitor_W0QQitemZ320498563965QQcmdZViewItemQQptZComputer_Monitors?hash=item4a9f33fb7d
Update: I guess what broke was the actual lcd matrix...because the backlight still worked. Anyways, I talked to dell, and I'm getting a replacement, hopefully by Monday.
