I have tinnitus, due to too many concerts without hearing protection. What has seemed to work for reducing the ringing is NSAIDs and fish oil. I noticed the effect NSAIDs have on my own, then confirmed it by reading up on anti-inflammatorys on the internet...
Check the review, PQ gets 5/5:

Age has nothing to do with quality. 2001 is 40 years old and looks spectacular on Blu-ray.
Mine(bought over a year ago) came with v7.3 and only had stereo sound. Maybe Cyberlink is bundling a better version now, but their paid version still stinks.
I would also recommend Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre 3 Platinum. PowerDVD 8 Ultra has been nothing but trouble since the day I bought it (upgraded from bundled version), their software patches tend to cause more problems than they solve and their customer service is inept. Since switching to TMT3 I...
Yeah, a fan controller will work wonders. I have 2 Yate Loon D12SH-12 running through a Scythe Kaze Master and from a couple of feet away they're dead silent.
The is an EQ. Open the Creative Console Launcher in any of the different modes(Entertainment, Game, Audio Creation) and it'll be there. If Bitmatched Playback is selected in Audio Creation Mode the EQ will not be available.
In all honesty, when I bought the X-Fi was skeptical about the claims that were made about it, but since I had some CompUSA gift cards with nothing else to spend them on I figured I'd try for myself, pretty much expecting to find no benefit and returning the card within a week.
With the X-Fi...
I would expect you'd notice a difference, most people have. Setting the card up and using the different modes to their best advantage is key. Use Game mode for games, Entertainment mode for movies and Audio Creation mode for music. Basic setup for each mode with your speakers:
GAMING MODE...
I beg to differ. I went from an Audigy2 ZS to my current X-Fi and there was an appreciable increase in sound quality, and it has nothing to do with any of the fancy-schmancy features. It's simply a better card.
No offense, but that's the kind of thinking that gets people to buy crap cards in...
Yep, the XtremeAudio is merely a renamed Audigy SE. They both have the exact same chip and drivers.
If you want a fully hardware accelerated X-Fi get the XtremeGamer.
In terms of sound quality, yes, you'd likely notice a difference. I know I did when I upgraded from an Audigy2 ZS. Doubtful you'll see any peformance in games as far as more FPS, as the X-RAM is hyped to do. I've not gained even 1 FPS in any games with my Fatal1ty Pro.
My recommendation would...
I've never had any problems with them. Not a one. Through 95, 98, 2K and now XP.
I say put the card in and give it a spin for a week or two, if you don't like it just take it out again.
It means sound quality is not as good, due to cheaper parts and software acceleration. There are also issues with some games not recognizing the card as an X-Fi.
The XAudio has the same features, but relies on software acceleration for them, as opposed to the XGamer which has full hardware acceleration of the X-Fi features.
Go back to the older drivers. If eveything worked fine with them then there's no real need to use newer drivers. Newer doesn't always mean better.
Uninstall the drivers, then reboot in Safe Mode and run Driver Cleaner Pro with the Creative Audio cleaning option. Then reboot normally and...
All of the new X-Fi cards have a passive heatsink. None of them have a HSF(heatsink-fan). Creative started putting heatsinks on the chip quite a while ago to help with the problems they were initially having. Any pics of them without a heatsink are old.
The XGamer does indeed have the front...
3/10
At idle with the fans turned down I can hear my watch ticking on the nightstand across the room(~8 ft). With the fans turned up for gaming or benchmarking I'd say it's about a 5.
Before you take the plunge and buy a whole new case, why not try adding a fan or two to get some better airflow? Adding a intake fan to the middle drive cage could help, it would work like a tunnel, feeding cool air straight to your video cards.
I believe the XtremeGamer is the only one with the front panel pin-outs. Otherwise you have to make or buy a cable such as this:

You're better off not using front panel audio connections, they're prone to poor sound quality and...
If you're listening to music, you'll still only get 2 channel output. You have to either have a player or your sound card set up to upmix the stereo signal to multichannel.
Mine is the XtremeGamer Fatal1ty, pretty much the most over-hyped and over-priced of the lot, but I only paid $50 out of my own pocket for it due to having had a $100 gift card.
The XtremeMusic is favored due to its price, as it has all the useful features of the true X-Fi family, but is...
