For a brief time this weekend I had a GT 545, GTX 650, and GTX 650 Ti on hand. I ran FluidMark 1.5 on all three of them using setting similar at which I game. 2560x1440 with 4x anti-aliasing.
I cranked up the particle count to 120,000 to put the burden on the Nvidia cards. My primary GPU...
Something I've noticed when testing a hybrid Physx setup is they all cap out at 80% when they are at max load. I tested a 550 ti, a 545, and a 650 in FluidMark. When you crank up the load high enough that they max out, it was always at 80%. Maybe there's some overhead in the Hybrid Physx...
What I have done is run MSI afterburner in the background to allow it to graph and log the usage of both GPUs. At 2540x1440, with all graphics maxed out, the ATI 7970 is pegged at 100% usage, while the Nvidia card for Physx runs anywhere from 0 to ~70%. So in my particular setup the physx card...
I have a Radeon 7970 and I just bought a Zotac GT 545 to make a hybrid Physx setup. It's working wonderfully in Borderlands 2. I'm running at 2560x1440 with everything maxed out and using an SMAA injector for antialiasing. I've ran Afterburner in the background and I see the GT 545 running at...
I'm really happy with the HS1 speakers for gaming and movie watching. I set the HS1 headphones as the default audio device in Windows 7. Now, when I plug in the headphones into the USB port, the OS switches to the headphones without intervention from me. When I unplug them it goes back to...
I really, really like my LG W2486L. I've been trying out different monitors with TN panels, and for some reason I was getting eyestrain and headaches from the others. The colors seem much better on this LG than other TNs.
Well, hopefully those numbers help some people make purchasing decision. I've been going back and forth for quite awhile between a 120GB Vertex or a 160GB X25-M...but just could never get over pulling the trigger at the prices they wanted. I was worried that this Solid 2 series would be slow...
I jumped on the $269 (after rebate) deal for the 120 GB Solid 2 SSD. I received the drive today and had a chance to get everything configured tonight. I have been debating getting the 120GB Vertex, but I am very happy with the Solid 2's performance, especially at the price I paid.
Here are...
I work for BBY corporate and I took the 7.5 month severance option. I also get a year of health insurance and outplacement services. I'm not sure what I will do now, but I definitely appreciate how the company has handled this.
Yeah that is right. The core clock can't be more than 1/2 the shader clock. That is why mine is set to 729 MHz...my shader clock is set 1458 MHz. If the software you are using allows you to set the core higher than 1/2 the shader clock you will see the core clock actually plummet to around...
Have you manually cranked up the fan while in games? That is what I had to do in games. If I leave it on Auto artifacts would start occurring 5 minutes or so into the game. Manually controlling the fan takes care of that. I leave it at 80% in Crysis and runs great. Other games, like...
Another reason I went with the EVGA 260 Core 216 is I got two bad BFG GTX 280s...one from Newegg and one from Fry's Electronics. Both shot up to the 100C temps in just seconds. I gave up on trying to spend near $400 and end up with a gamble on getting a card that works. So...I decided to buy...
I was able to get 756/1512/1260 out of my vanilla EVGA GTX 206 Core 216. I do need to manually set the fan up to about 80% in Crysis to keep it cool. The Auto fan doesn't keep it cool enough at those speeds...the game will start artifacting.
I tested to make sure there wasn't a heat problem at stock speeds. At stock speeds it can go well into the 90s with no problems. The card performs flawlessly at stock speeds.
It artifacts around 80C when it is highly overclocked.
I'm now running it at 756/1512/1260 with no problems as...
I just got my EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 today.
I can overclock it to 725/1512/1225 if kept cooled adequately...as in setting the fan speed manually. This is the plain version too...no factory overclock.
Crysis is a lot of fun on this card. I am playing at 1680x1050 using the Natural Mod 2.0...
