I'm on the Canadian west coast so I pretty much always use . Currently looking at this MSI OC'd version for $115CAD: http://www./products/index.php?sku=68459
Edit: Huh, the name of that store is censored it seems.
I am going to be building a new mini-ITX system for my girlfriend to replace her current collection of hand-me-down parts. She's currently using my old 4870X2 which is loud, hungry and probably overkill for the resolution she games at (1680x1050).
The power consumption figures on the 7770...
So I went to change my config file back to DX9 and discovered that the line for DX11 had disappeared so I guess I was running in DX9. Setting it back to DX11 seems to have resolved the flicker issue and the game runs better in general. Alt-tab and login freezing still happens though.
Fullscreen, yes. I never had either of these issues with my 4870X2.
Also the flicker I’m describing isn’t actually on the textured object. There will be say, fire in the bottom left of the screen and I’ll see the occasional flicker of a distorted fire texture up in the top...
My new 6970/2600K setup is working great except for a couple of issues in WoW. First, more minor problem, is that on login and sometimes on tabbing back in to the game, it will freeze for a few seconds and then do what seems like a GPU reset, sometimes twice in a row. Second problem is that...
I play at 2560x1600 and am not entirely satisfied with the performance of my 4870X2. It does appear to scale to the two GPUs but not terribly well and I get a bit of stutter. I would like to go single GPU with my Sandy Bridge upgrade but I'm torn between a 6970 and a GTX580. I would like the...
WoW does take advantage of multiple GPUs. It's pretty obvious when I disable Cat AI and my FPS drops considerably. It does seem like the engine scales really terribly to higher resolutions though (talking 2560x1600 here). I get better FPS is just about everything short of Crysis than I do in WoW.
Mine does that very slightly. I didn't notice it at all with the stock cooler making a racket but now that it's watercooled, I do notice it if I'm paying attention.
The video isn't showing PhysX vs software physics at all. The physics objects on the right are simply absent on the left. The entire presentation is artificial and meaningless. "Hey look, our physics is better than no physics at all". Yeah, no shit.
These drivers fixed my L4D problems. No more stuck at idle clocks / single GPU mode. The bad news is that although Crysis: Warhead runs a little faster, I get flickering textures/lighting now. L4D is much more important to me that warhead so I'm sticking with these for now.
Got my rig all set up now. Had a minor leak in when testing from insufficiently tighten fittings on my GTZ but it's all working well now. Went with a Feser 480 in the end so my setup is extremely similar to CaptainSoble's.
I have some questions about stress testing and temps now. My Q6600s...
So I understand that loop order doesn't matter a great deal so long as the res is before the pump. Most setups I see have the CPU as the first block but with the pump in the bottom front of the case below the res that will be mounted just behind the drive bays, it seems like I would use less...
It seems to me that it must be sitting at idle clocks as well since I believe even a single 4870 should get better fps than 30-40 in L4D even at 2560x1600
I'm running Left 4 Dead at 2560x1600, 4xAA and everything else on max and after each level loads I get around 30-40fps until I tab out and back in to the game, then I get 70-120fps. I have to do this on every single map load, is anyone else having a similar problem?
I'm using Cat...
NCIX has the XSPC 4870X2 blocks in now and they're the cheapest of the lot and look pretty good as well. I think I will go with one of them over the DD one since I have not heard anything negative about them.
As for not cooling the NB; My X38 NB can get over 50C at stock voltage, which has...
I have EXACTLY the same sparkly snow issue with my W3000H + 4870X2. Sometimes randomly it will be gone but it is usually there. Did not occur with my Crossfired 3870s and doesnt seem to show up with the 4870X2 if no driver is installed.
Should be lots of room for the 655 in the TJ07. I wanted to go with a beefy pump for future-proofing in case I build a Tri-SLI monstrosity or some such that requires it.
edit:
Also considering 2x Swifty MCW60s instead of the full cover block for my X2. I've seen it done before and would...
After considering it several times in the past, Ive finally committed myself to setting up a WC system. What Im looking for is feedback on my selection of parts and verification that I havent overlooked anything.

My minor issue seems to have fixed itself somehow. Just finished playing Crysis a second time and then played though Warhead and been playing lots of TF2. Quite satisfied with how the hard is handling 2560x1600.
Hrmmm, on the system in my sig I played through Warhead with all settings on Gamer @ 2560x1600 with no AA and it ran well enough to be playable (20-30fps usually) and by all accounts my system is worse than the [H] test machine.
I haven't played Warhead yet but in original Crysis my 4870X2 does this in DX10 on the last part of the game on the carrier deck. It pauses for longer and longer periods until it freezes up permanently. Everything before this part of the game is fine and running in DX9 solves the problem.
I...
That guy's artifacts are much worse than mine and pretty different as well. I doubt mine would show up in photographs. It's also not random at all like his seem to be.
If it fire up Photoshop and make a near full screen image of a black to white gradient, the snow is visible from about 2%...
Hrmm... So I RMA'd the card and my replacement is acting the same way. How irritating. I hope they didn't just send me the same card back.
I'm not sure what else I should try. It seems like I've eliminated any single piece of hardware as being the problem.
3870 CF + 30" LG + ATi drivers...
You'll hear horror stories of both ATi and nVidia drivers, it's a bit of a gamble. That said, most of the recent driver complaints pertain to the 4870X2. There are some pretty good deals on both the GTX260 and the GTX280 around, if you can find a GTX260 for less than a 4870, it'd be the better...
