eBay - Refurbished Hitachi Ultrastar 2 TB $30 - Free 2 Day USPS Priority

Some people on Reddit jumped on these, and they got everything from 20,000 hours to 20 hours. Depends what batch you get, I guess...if you caught them as they were trying to increase storage density instead of pre-emptive maintenance, then you got lucky.

    ECS H67H2-I mini-ITX mobo

Well, more headaches with this board... When I boot it, it says system boot failed, but if I target the drive on SATA 0, it'll boot? Means I need to have a USB kybd around to boot this thing. Also, whenever it goes into suspend, the system clock stops. And when it wakes up, it'll resume from...

    ECS H67H2-I mini-ITX mobo

Well, update... Apparently the update to UEFI is what fucked me. I'm trying to reinstall W7 and it won't let me, saying "the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks." Update 2: So updating to EFI reset the SATA controller from AHCI...

    ECS H67H2-I mini-ITX mobo

Bump. Anyone buy this mobo? I had it running fine for 2 months, then found out there was a BIOS update. Ran the update, and now W7x64 BSODs on boot. On the plus side, it looks like they converted to UEFI...

Lian Li PC- Q08 itx case : Specification & Feature

Haha, is this competing for air an actual or a hypothetical situation? I have the stock cooler on an i5-2500. I don't think these fans have enough power to create a low pressure zone. I turned it on briefly and the PSU does pull air in from the fan side and exhausts out the rear, but shouldn't...

Lian Li PC- Q08 itx case : Specification & Feature

How are you guys mounting your PSUs? Fan up or fan down? I have a Silverstone Strider Plus ST50F-P (great clearance to the HDD cage btw), and I mounted it fan down to give the CPU some air. But maybe this is wrong?

    FS: Rare Thinkpad X200s 2.13 GHz w/ 128GB SSD & WXGA+

This is one of the few Thinkpad X200s that came w/ the SL9600 2.13GHz. Apparently it was available for a very short time near it's introduction; fastest processor available now is the 1.86 GHz. Recently refurbed by Lenovo to a basically new state. Looks like they replaced a lot of parts w/ new...

    FS: Doublesight DS-245W 24" S-PVA LCD monitor

Hey guys, I've had this for a while, but haven't really used it. It's a Samsung S-PVA panel, which you probably know has much better color reproduction and viewing angles than the cheap TN panels that are abundant nowadays. Maybe used for a 4-5 months, and then I got a laptop w/o a DVI...

T500 vs W500 vs Last Gen MBP

The Lenovo screens have had a variety of complaints against their brightness and color uniformity. The MBP with the LED backlight would probably be a better choice for that alone. That said, I'm faced with the same decision as you (notice the almost identical thread I posted? ;) ), and I'm...

15" Macbook Pro (last gen) or Lenovo W500?

Simply put, Windows feels unpolished in comparison. Interface aside, things should just work, I shouldn't need to hack drivers and whatnot to get things going. I love Apple for their software and ingenuity. What I dislike is how their userbase fails to see things objectively. When I talk...

15" Macbook Pro (last gen) or Lenovo W500?

Apple is blowing out their old 15" MBPs for $1400 shipped (student store), and I can get a fully spec'd Lenovo W500 for about the same money (EPP discount promotion). The MBP also has the better display with the LED backlit (1400x900 WXGA only though), the Lenovo comes in a 1900x1200 w/...

    Lenovo Now or Lenovo Later?

What, why? Only benefit I see of the T400 is the faster memory. The T61p still has a faster gfx chip, and better WUXGA+ display.

Lenovo is phasing out their T61's. It's probably a good time to jump on 'em.

    19x12 Versus 25x16 on 24" (Native 19x12)

It's sick if you have the money to throw at the monitor AND the graphics cards to run games at that resolution. Will you notice the resolution difference? I won't, except I'll notice the skipping frames and the significantly lighter wallet. :)

Here's the deal. I'd like to get a single 30" monitor for TV and computing, on a laptop. Assuming the monitor only takes a dual-link DVI input (it's a HP LP3065), how can I add HD television to my laptop? I'd be on a docking station, and I'd undock to move around. Does such a product...
