For adjusting my price from $1,830 to $1,644, Dell asked me to return the monitor that I had ordered earlier and they send me another one as part of a new order. The new one that I got is much better.
There is still some back light that I see, but overall this one is much better than the...
As far as I can tell the reviews also pointed to 305T being the best 30 inch. I thought Dell 3008WFP will improve over that, but obviously thats not the case and that seemed to be confirmed by the reivews which have rated 3008WFP quite low. Hopefully, we will get some reviews on NEC 3090WQXi as...
I don't know about 30" S-IPS and S-PVA panels, but I know for sure that the Dell 2407WFP that I have sitting in my office looks much better than Dell 3008WFP that I have sitting in my home.
- I see sparkles on 3008WFP, but not on 2407WFP.
- There is obvious backlight leakage in the corners...
I am starting to think that decision to buy a monitor is based on which one is the least defective rather than which one has the most features. I really hope NEC 30" is different, but I won't be surprised if there are issues there as well.
Any reviews from people going to MacWorld?
Just saw some specs of NEC LCD3090WQXI

From the description, it appears that it kicks Dell 3008WFP's ass. Just wondering if they use the same panel as Dell 3008WFP or not.
You mean the panel in 3008WFP is not manufactured correctly or is there some design issues that inherently make the panel leak more backlight. If it is a manufacturing problem, I assume it will be corrected soon?
Here is what mine looks like at those settings
After uploading the picture into the computer, I looked at both the picture and monitor at the settings that you specified and it appeared that the backlight leakage in the picture is exaggerated as compared to the real monitor. Plus, my camera...
Yes, thats how it looks in person if I were to turn off all the lights in the room. When lights are on I can still see some bleeding in the upper left corner, but can't see any Bottom right corner bleeding.
Not sure under what setting you too the pic, but here is what mine looks likes. My desktop background is set to black and brightness is set to lowest level
What setting did you put the monitor into to take the back light picture. Let me know and I will try to take one here for comparison in the evening when it gets darker.
Yup, in general I am quite happy with the monitor as well. But I would really like to know whether the new "NEC 30 inch" monitor also sparkles like this one before the return time expires on this monitor :D. No harm aiming for a little perfection if one is spending $1600+
By the way the colors...
The six control buttons also seem to be a little hard to press. Should have been easier to press with less force or one of those touch sensitive buttons perhaps
I am not sure if I did it properly. But I basically used 3008WFP and a CRT connected to 8600GT for the test.
Used the clock at http://tft.vanity.dk/inputlag.html. Here are the time differences that I am getting:

I agree with you. The monitor IS bright and a little too bright for sure. The brightness on my 3008WFP is set to minimum. Dell could have definitely done a better job with brightness controls. As far as I know if you reduce the voltage going to a light source, its brightness will reduce. So not...
The sparkling seems to go away when the background colors are dark. For example, if I set my desktop background to white, I see a lot of sparkling, but if the desktop background is set to black, I don't see any sparkling.
Sparkling tends to bother me a bit, but I am glad that this monitor...
Its bright for sure, but I wouldn't call the brightness problematic in any way. No glare like my old Sony CRT monitor.
Although I don't perticularly like the dusty sparkle coating on LCD monitor. 3008WFP seems to have more of this as compared to 2407WFP. Maybe I just see more sparkles on...
I hooked up the monitor to: PC running GeForce 8600GT, Thinkpad T40, and Playstation III.
Hooked up to IBM Thinkpad T40:
The graphics card in Thinkpad T40 doesn't do justice to this monitor, but the scalar in the monitor itself works well.
Seeing some back light leakage mostly in the...
Dell shipped my 3008WFP today, but the problem is that I had canceled it yesterday. The price I am paying so far is $1989. Hopefully I will be able to get in touch with Lisa over phone tomorrow and sort it out. Otherwise the monitor is going back :(. I don't know if I should even open the box...
Dude, take public transportation to work and get rid of the freekin moneypit and pollution machine that you call "a car." I have been taking public transportation to work (VTA in silicon valley) for last 3 years and get free annual passes from work. I figure I save atleast $500 a month on car...
Would anyone who got a $1,550 or better price for Dell 3008WFP monitor willing to PM me your order number?
The dell rep I talked to wouldn't give any discount, but said that they would be willing to "match" the price for me provided I gave them an order number with lower price on it...
Given the way Dell is randomly pricing this monitor, I think its pretty much guaranteed that the prices will drop well below $2,034 and that too very quickly. I estimated that I was paying a reasonable premium of around $200 when I ordered this monitor a couple of weeks back, but given the...
Wish I had seen this thread earlier. Now I will need to wait until Monday and hope that I still get a good deal.
I ordered 3008WFP for $1,830 after a 10% coupon discount on a couple of weeks back. Now it seems like prices for this monitor are all over the place. If people are getting this...
Dell has delayed the ship date of the 3008wfp that I ordered on 12/18 again. Now ship date is Jan 7th.
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Seems like NEC announced their new 30" display:
NEC Display Solutions announces the MultiSync LCD3090WQXi display for soft-copy clinical and PACS viewing. The 4 mega pixel wide-gamut, widescreen display has leading-edge capabilities including standalone DICOM calibration and X-Light Pro...
Talked to dell online customer support. The ship date for Dell 3008WFP that I ordered on 18th has now been delayed until Jan 2nd. Grrrrr, time to go to dell and bite them. Trying to get some info on new NEC 30" also, but no word yet.
Just ordered the damn thing for $1830 (before taxes and free 2-day shipping). Make sure you get the 10% discount coupon from eBay. It knocks of the price by $200.
Has been waiting to buy a 30" for a while now. I was planning to wait for NEC 30" to come out, but thats too long of a wait. Hope I...
NEC is going to announce their 30" NEC LCD3090QXi in Jan. It will have 102% of Adobe scale. My spies in NEC tell me that it will be priced from $2000 to $2500.
I am planning to wait for NEC LCD3090QXi to come out before I get my 30".
Peace.
The price difference between these $1000 something monitors is just couple of hundred of dollars (excluding the EIZO 30" which is $1000 extra and not sure what EIZO is offering for an extra $1000).
Dell 3007 does have an IPS screen, but if their image quality is lagging behind Samsung 305T (as...
Yes I think I can wait for 2-3 months for NEC 30". But found this while browsing the web:

Hmm, seems like CRTs are coming back! although in much better shape, form, and price. Now if all the LCD/TV manufacturers would have invested their research dollars...
