I wonder if they sold more than the PS4 if you only count North America. Didn't the PS4 sell over a million units in the first 24 hours only counting North America? (Or did I read that headline wrong last week?)
Doesn't look like it to me...
Edit: Just realized you said regular pros. Looking for the teardown for the regular MBPs now.
Edit edit: Looking at Apple's online store, they've only got MBPs with retina displays now. So, I don't think you can upgrade the RAM yourself later.
Don't the new MacBook Airs and MBPs have soldered-in RAM, so that you can't upgrade it yourself in the future? In that case I would say a RAM upgrade to whatever the highest is that you can afford.
And then save money to buy an SSD as a future upgrade like voklskier is recommending.
Maybe they want to focus on refreshing the look before tackling those issues? I agree though, the actual security issues and such should be worked on first...
With a case like that, you could even go with something like a Corsair H75 or H80 for some good CPU cooling, if you're interested in that.
Otherwise, like Dangman was saying, the 850W PSU you were looking at would really be overkill for a single GPU setup.
I just got a 780 Ti SLI setup and decided to go with a new PSU just to be safe. Had an old TX750W and got a new EVGA Supernova 1300 G2. Pretty overkill, but now I know I shouldn't need a new PSU for the next decade or so... :D
I went from ATH-AD700s to Sennheiser HD 600s a few years ago. FWIW, I really like the HD 600s, they are a great set of cans (although they might be out of your price range I think, unless you find a superb deal or buy a pair used...).
Otherwise the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Premium can regularly be...
I second what Sp33dFr33k said, saving up your money to build a completely new system some time in the future would be a better idea than upgrading what you have now... Especially if you don't have much money right now anyways.
From what I've seen with mouse feet I've bought before, the new mouse feet should have a sticky backing on them. So you just peel/pry off the old feet and clean it up a bit if there's residue, then peel the paper off the sticky backing of the new feet and stick them on.
Another thing that could be causing things similar to this is your display's dynamic contrast, but as previously mentioned a laptop's power saving settings also do the same kind of thing.
I agree with Danny Bui, you should definitely look into getting a new PSU -- subpar power supplies can cause all sorts of problems. (And besides, if you do end up upgrading the rest of your rig later, you'll keep your awesome new power supply.)
Your router might have QoS settings, so you can set certain programs (like games or VoIP) or IPs or MAC addresses on your network to have higher priority than others; and certain things (like torrents or usenet) to have lower priority. This way if your roommate/other person starts up some...
I'd say going barebones is a pretty good suggestion. While you're pulling your rig apart to get it set up with only the basics, take a close look at your motherboard to see if VRMs or MOSFETs have popped. (Although then your rig just wouldn't even boot...)
Also, J Macker's UPS suggestion is a...
