I have an HP Omen 2019, and the power cable and battery pack, but the power cable (the top cable) is a bit short. I was wondering if:
(1) I could use a Power Extension Cable - IEC C13 to C14 between the top cable and the battery pack to extend the length.
(2) Alternatively, I can purchase a...
Hey, once again thanks for your well thought out responses. You obviously make some great points regarding size and portability.
HP does have a bigger presence in Malta I guess for obvious reasons (work laptops mainly).
I'll be honest, the idea for getting a laptop isn't for portability or...
I found the specs of this HP Omen 17: https://www.forestals.com/product/hp-omen-9th-generation-core-i7-16gb-1tbssd-gtx-17-3-laptop/
It seems to me that price for office this is better than the MSI GF75. 144Hz, more SSD space, and maybe HP have a better track record than MSI on build quality...
Thanks so much for finding the time to reply, much appreciated!
I'm staying away from the GF63, I was focusing my research between the GL65 and GF75 this week. I called the shop and they told me the GF75 9SD-023 should be the 120hz version...
I'm due for an upgrade as I bought my last gaming computer nearly 13 years ago (specs in my signature). It runs surprisingly 'well', but due to lack of video card driver support I'm getting random CTDs or just black screens which force restarts.
So I now want a clean mobile setup i.e. a laptop...
Cheers guys for taking your time to explain.
You're all right - it's a pretty old rig but it's actually not too bad. But the components are getting old and weary so I can understand some of them need changing. Theoretically speaking, what does the PSU do that can cause problems? I mean I...
I believe it's this: Hiper Type M 780W Review Hiper 780w PSU. It wasn't listed as 6.5 years ago (just checked its age) I had no idea that the PSU was really that important to list in the specs.
I cleaned the tower yesterday although I'm not sure why it would heat up - plenty of space and there are a number of fans. With regards to bad caps - I'll check them out. Thanks. And yeah my rig is getting old (8 years I think) but I'd hate to let it go. I can play any games without hiccups -...
Thanks for replying. I edited my post to include a screenshot of the exact time the computer froze again, and I left the catalyst control centre running to track the temperature.
It crashed at 46*c - surely that's not high at all!
Today suddenly out of the blue whilst I was playing Wasteland 2 the screen froze. I couldn't bring up task manager or do anything; the computer was totally unresponsive. The sound kept on playing though.
Had to manually press the reset button but this kept happening when I tried to play the...
Not sure about how much watts it uses, but I don't live in the US. I live in Malta (Europe) and we've got very high electricity rates here. It doesn't seem cost efficient to leave something running on for more than 10+ hours when I only use it for 3.
Yes I can feel a difference, at least. But I do think I'm due another HDD. Or perhaps an SSD to really see a difference.
As you can see on CrystalDisk my HDD has 18,000 hours on it. I have no idea how it compares to other HDDs, but it does seem quite high. Had this PC for 5.5 years now.
Well, I went ahead with a normal clean installation with the usual format. Thanks everyone for your input, I decided I was not technologically apt enough to fiddle around with other programs.
I'm currently running HD Tune's full error scan. I installed it and ran the program and the health was 'good' but I believe I should run it for a couple of hours to get a correct diagnosis, correct? I'll have to wait for HD Tune's scan to finish first however.
Thanks for the replies.
Rather than secure deletion, it's because I'm a bit paranoid that a normal format won't be enough. I'm having some technical problems and would like to make sure they're not software related. I think it's the HDD because:
- Booting times have increased
- I get some...
I've always formatted my hard drive through Windows - but someone told me there are tools you can use to wipe out everything which may be better than the Windows standard way.
1. Is this true?
2. What could I use?
I'm looking for something as straightforward as it is when you format the...
How would I look for the minidumps? Sorry if it's a stupid question.
EDIT: Found them:

Trying to learn how to read these...
So, I followed your directions and opened up the case. Blew out the dust and cleaned it, then I took a look.
Everything looks fine to me. The components are in good condition and there's no corrosion or bulging caps. I took a couple of pictures...
The HD Tune never finished because I got a black screen - but I got a video driver failure prompt before everything turned the wrong resolution and then I had to restart. I'm out of ideas, on the internet I keep finding totally different 'solutions'.
Here's the crash report...
Hi all,
Firstly, I went through the sticky on troubleshooting and downloaded 3 programs: CPU-Z, GPU-Z and HD Tune 2.55.
My computer is 5 years old and I've never had this problem before. Specs are in my signature. In the last couple of weeks I've been noticing the following issues:
- When...
My choice is between these two 32" TVs:
http://www.doneo.com.mt/Product.aspx?prodID=2099&MainID=1
Or
http://m.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UE32ES5500KXXU
They seem exactly alike. Which one should I go for? They're the only ones within my budget. I'll be...
I've just got myself a tablet. Any recommended apps for it? It runs on jelly bean 4.1.
I'm also looking for useful widgets (especially a weather widget - I've looked at the top apps and none of them seem to have a clean weather widget).
Thanks!
I've never rooted anything before so I don't think I will. Not unless I want to try anything new anyway.
I think I'll go with the TF300. I may wait a couple of weeks for the xmas sale though, perhaps they'll put the price down a notch.
And thanks to everyone who replied.
So, I decided between either the Asus Transformer TF 101, or the Asus Transformer TF300T.
I can get the TF 101 (16gb) + dock for €475.
I can get the TF 300 (32gb) + dock for €595, which is expensive. I've just went to the store and asked them to notify me when the 16gb version...
