Thanks for the info.
Just to confirm though this is not harmful for the LCD in any way right (connecting 2 inputs at the same time)? First time trying this. :)
P.S: When you say middle button, you are counting the power button too right? (am awaiting a HDMI cable so can't try this out right now).
I want to connect my TV tuner to the VGA of the DELL 2209WA and my system to the DVI both at the same time.
Is this possible with the DELL 2209WA or will it cause any problems. If it can be connected this way how do I switch between the 2 inputs?
TIA
After some reading up on current GPU's have decided on the ATI Radeon HD 4850.
However I see that there are several brands of these available (Sapphire, ASUS, Palit, Viper etc..) and I can't really decide on which would be a good choice for this?
I read somewhere else that the Palit had an...

Was just wondering how do we actually tell what Panel type is present on an LCD?
Is there indication on the back of it or somewhere which helps with this (other than trying to identify from the pic quality).
I used a CRT for 3 yrs in college were it was used pretty much all the time I was at home (programming/gaming etc.) and did not feel strained using it.
When I started working I was given an LCD and within 6 months I had to get glasses as my eyesight started getting bad (the quality of the LCD...
Actually I was wondering why Xeon's are not on people's mind.
Is there something about their technology that makes them "inferior" to the other desktop processors in some way? Or was it bad marketing etc?
Pardon my ignorance on this (I'm a relative newbie here), but I was wondering why nobody uses Xeon's in a desktop?
Is it because there mobo, other peripherals that are compatible with it are way too costly, or that specialized software is required for it or something else altogether?
It may be a good idea to plan your upgrade in Jan '08 or early Feb and then go for the best bang/buck at that time.
That should be the Q6600 I think, as they would be a little cheaper by then (I hope) or maybe a cheaper Quad Penryn would be released.
Unless you are looking for 45nm core in...
Oh boy!
I don't what I was expecting from this thread when I posted but it was most definitely not this.
Move to lock the thread (and if necessary delete it too).

If you are looking for a proc for gaming and do normal everyday stuff (movies/net etc.) and are not into overclocking, and not looking to upgrade soon, then I think the Q6600 should be the best choice IMO.
I think within the next year or so we should be seeing more apps/games that will be...
Ok, after searching around and finding this
I am really thinking of getting a CRT for the next 2 years at least. :(
A pity really, I can't afford any of the high end TFT's for now. Guess I have to be satisfied with the CRT's.
I am planning to get an Intel Q6600 and was wondering which mobo would be the best (both price and performance-wise).
I will not be OC'ing it and even if I do feel the need for that maybe just a bit. :)
I would also not be getting a graphics or a sound card for the time being (budget...
Are the Core 2 Extreme CPU's the 'Penryn' series manufactured using 45nm?
The article http://www.guru3d.com/newsitem.php?id=6024 mentions a QX9970 but I was unable to find this among the Intel list of processors at their site.
I was comparing the Core2 Duo E6700 and E6750 at the Intel site and see that the E6700 has a "Multi-Core" mentioned under the "Other Intel Technologies" section while the E6750 has Dual-Core only.
What exactly does this mean and does it make a difference between them?
