    Help with Win ME image

    - I need to boot to the computer to access the quickbooks version it had on it. - I had initially tried pulling off the files and using a trial version to no avail. It needs the original password when switching in between versions. - I used R-Studio. First I did a byte for byte image...

    Help with Win ME image

I have Windows ME image that I need to make usable. Unfortunately I don't have the system it originated on. The OS has an old version of Quickbooks on it, and I can't copy the files into a new version of quickbooks because of a password issue. Is there any way to make this boot on a...

The I Wish I Knew Then What I Know Now Thread

The main thing I learned is this: As cool and versatile as Linux is, learning how to setup a HTPC/Server is hard and time consuming, and frustrating. I knew very little when I started. Granted it can be relatively simple if the hardware plays nice, but I'm probably making the jump to...

    Pico PSUs

Thanks. I actually had a 200W PSU with a dell DA-2 that recently died and am setting up another one. I just wanted to be sure that going to all of the trouble of modding it out was worth it. It's ridiculous that they advertise 90 - 150 Watts in some of these packages and then throw a crappy...

    Pico PSUs

This is where I get confused though - on the back of the brick you multiply amps and voltage to get total watts going into the PC and usually it's way less than the what the PICO PSU can output. I assume I'm missing some conversion process but I'm curious what it is.

    Pico PSUs

I'm really annoyed and should probably just be confused... They always sell Pico PSUs rated at 150W with bricks that only out put about 90W. Am I missing something? For Example

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

+1 Totally agree, why go to the theater when I can sit in my comfy home with out teenagers yelling at the screen or sitting uncomfortably close to me.

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

I can't, I'm weak willed - the popcorn is like waiving crack in front of a recovering crack addict. I used to be big guy - not in a muscular way either. My main gripe is that as far as I know, it costs next to nothing for them to produce the popcorn and fill sodas. But now they have to...

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

I can see this making sense, it's just the limit on refills of popcorn and soda that irk me. I may occasionally refill my drink and never my popcorn, but the fact that it is so expensive and now there is a limit of one FREE refill (not free) bothers me.

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

$600,000,000 that's it? I heard some theaters were already sold out of advance ticket sales. Don't get me wrong I could really care less about this movie - but here is how it's going to work. They are going to release it for only two weeks - find such a demand that they will extend it for...

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

Last movie I saw I spent 15 - 20 minutes watching advertisements (not just for movies) and this was after the 10 - 15 minutes of advertising while waiting for the movie to begin.

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

When was the last time you wanted to buy a movie? I used to try to have a large DVD collection until I realized I had about $800 worth of movies that I would almost never watch again. Then they came out with Blue Ray. And wasn't the price of DVDs supposed to drop lower than that of VHS? I...

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

Good point there are some decent movies that have been released in the past few years. Iron man especially! Lately though they try to appeal to all audiences. For instance in Transformers 1 they had the gov't guy who was a complete tool and took away from the serious plot of the movie...

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

Last time I went to see "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" - decent - I paid $40 for two tickets a large popcorn and two cokes... expected. The kicker was that the movie theater now only allows ONE *free* refill on the popcorn and cokes. What a rip off - not that I ever really need it, but...

Piracy Means No Money To Make Movies

Right, If I had paid to see that I would want my life back... I still do actually. They need to get back to content and screw relying on overdone special FX. It's reGoddamndiculous the movies they are putting out and charging for. Half of any movies I may or may not have downloaded I haven't...

New RAID 5 Setup... need some advice

I'm looking to store mainly movies and TV. I'm thinking about 4.5 GBs and it's not terribly important. I've learned that the important files should be saved and resaved on multiple formats. I was looking to spend $100 - $120 on each HD and about $400 on a decent PCIE card. The highpoint...

New RAID 5 Setup... need some advice

I originally had a Highpoint Rocket RAID 2300 and four Enterprise Western Digital 400 GB HDs. The WD Hard drives had about three failures within a year, and in one particular instance two died at the same time... yeah, like that. Turns out that it was a bad run of drives. Well, now I know I...

Guilty Verdict Overturned in MySpace Suicide Case

100% agree. And all of this talk about civil suits is pointless. I'm pretty sure if the mom had a purposeful and meaningful existence she wouldn't have resorted to this in the first place. Burying her lawyers fees might be worth while though...

Guilty Verdict Overturned in MySpace Suicide Case

Took me so long to write the first post that I missed three other posts. I'm pretty sure that after the death of a child a marriage becomes very difficult. It may have been one blaming the other for not watching for the signs, or maybe even not checking her online activity. The fact that the...

Guilty Verdict Overturned in MySpace Suicide Case

I'm going off of the way I saw it play out from news sources. What this lady did was create the online persona of a young boy designed to attract the 13 year old girl into a pseudo relationship. Odds are the mother extracted quite a bit of information that would seem irrelevant to us, but kids...

    What's up with the Dremel?

I moved and left my old Dremel from 2005 with Hoobie7 (I think) and now it was time to buy another one for my projects. I grabbed the Lithium one the day before yesterday and was cutting a sheet of aluminum and it smoked and died and wouldn't charge. Ah well it's probably because...
