Vista was the only OS where I had to restore from the factory reset partition multiple times due to choking on Windows Updates.
I have an old Vista laptop that had to be pressed back into service. Just last week I updated it to Windows 8.1. Not that I'm a fan of 8.1, but I had a spare license...
They should call it Windows 7 SP2. No point continuing forward when going in the wrong direction.
Testing updates before release would be nice too. That 0.01% of computers dying is BS. I had two computers out of nine have serious problems with the August update.
The family auto repair shop still has a rotary phone. They have awesome bells that can be heard over an air wrench.
It's funny as hell when a teenager walks in and asks to use the phone.
We don't actually use it for outgoing calls since automated phone systems can't handle pulse anymore.
I thought XP was great from the start. I ran the beta and RC of XP. No more quirky Soundblaster crashes that Win98 had.
8 can pull an E.T. for Atari 2600.
Email is a long mature technology. All I want is security fixes for the ESR version.
The rapid version numbers for Thunderbird are a joke anyway.
Changelog for Thunderbird 37: Updated version number to 37
Finally, a real release that isn't a beta. I'll change my machines' 3.6 for the ESR as soon as all my addons are verified working.
These nightly build releases are less stable, and often need an immediate .01 update to fix some error not caught during their shortened testing.
I don't see why the stock would surge on announcing their costs are higher than expected. Videos served is a server load and possibly a licensing cost. They don't make more revenue when people utilize the service heavier.
I don't pretend not to have money. It's easy to say no now, and in the future it'll be really easy to say hell no to wanting a credit card.
Blame hard luck story liars for making me jaded toward anyone who contacts me. I only donate to to charities I contact first.
I'm sure these worthless paperweights will be evenly distributed to the children.
No chance of militants with automatic weapons seizing the pallet and reselling it for more ak47s.
Heck, the parents could pawn them for a new pair of clothes.
France's 60 million population has around 24 million households. A 2007 survey only showed 53% as having internet. So, more people file-share than have internet?
I have a system that with one exception passes stability tests, yet obviously has issues.
Symptoms:
BSOD in Win7 a few times a week. Often memory management.
Corruption of .JPG files when copying over network to another machine, copying from memory card over USB2, and copying to external...
As someone who has Win7 on my primary computer, and XP on a bunch of others, I couldn't give a rat's ass what Apple wants as prerequisites. Apple doesn't touch my computing life.
I have no interest in cloud either. They won't guarantee my data always being available and secure. There is no...
Well if they allowed netbooks to be sold into 2010 with XP installed, then they can provide security updates until 2020.
I fully expect them to cave on the 2014 date.
I remember signing an invention clause at a prior job. I never signed any such document at any school I went to. Some administrator's random rules do not constitute a legal contract.
I only use Firefox. If Mozilla somehow imploded I'd switch to IE.
I block many Google domains on my machine. The internet tapeworm doesn't need any more of my information.
I was wondering what was wrong yesterday when trying to update a laptop. I couldn't find the problem and did a manual download and install.
Thunderbird didn't see the newest update either.
So, they spun off their physical assets, and got a settlement out of Intel. Their cost structure should be greatly reduced now that they are little more than an IP company. I guess losing money is the best they can do.
The cheaper technology gets the higher eBay/Paypal fees get. Change that 9% to 0.9% or provide real customer service and fraud protection. I'm done using that scam site.
I just had a waste money to RMA a DOA hard drive that UPS left in the snowbank. They never even try to ring the doorbell. Must not hire drivers smart enough to push a button.
I've also had the 'attempted delivery' post-its from USPS for their 'extremely urgent' packages where they also...
I had to get a Dynex 400W power supply two years ago. I was on a trip to Canada and had a dying computer, and Dynex was the only choice at Future Shop (owned by Best Buy). Being two years ago the model was a DX-PS400W for $100. I thought it was a ripoff, but there were no other options. They...
I just picked up a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 with a Q6600 (unfortunately B3). The board comes with the EPS12V (2x4 12V) connector instead of the usual P4 2x2 connector. The manual recommends using 8 pin power for Extreme Edition CPUs.
My PSU only has the 4 pin P4 connector, and I've no intention...
