I decided to bite on the ASRock ITX Fatal1ty... seems like a good board. I put a dry a run of my computer together... it's an i5 6600k, 750ti, and 16gb corsair vengeance LPX memory.
Everytime i start the pc from a cold boot the fans and lights come on for a split second and then the whole PC...
Ugh I can't decide between the ASRock Z170 ITX or the new ASUS Z170i Pro gaming. I can pick up the ASRock up at Microcenter today. I'd have to wait for the ASUS to become available somewhere. The motherboard is the last thing I need for my new PC.
I've been a long time ASUS fan. I always seem...
My gaming / video demands are not that great... my primary goal is to reduce noise, temps, and power requirements while compromising as little performance as possible. The 750 ti has two fans that can be add to the noise... and I got the water block for it on sale. Plus, the 750ti has a great...
I'll be sure to check that post out.
The h240-x is actually a 280mm radiator. I basically have room for another 140mm radiator or a 140mm fan in my case. My case currently only has two fans. Currently running in pull. Negative pressure is a concern so I'm thinking the one fan may be better than...
EK makes a 750ti block. I got it on sale for like $41. Do you run all that off the h220 pump or do you run a dual pump system? Does the pump get loud trying to push through two water blocks and another radiator?
I was looking to put both my CPU and GPU on a single custom loop with the Swiftech H240-X. I'm wondering if its feasible?
My custom loop is a little different than most as I only have a 750ti and an i5 6600k that I'm looking to cool. I'm thinking the combined TDP here should be less than 150...
On another note.. how noisy is your h220x pump at 100%? Is it anywhere near 25-30 dba? Mine is that loud without the fans. Those helix fans are noisy little suckers.
you know... I actually did see some air bubbles yes. It wasn't a lot... but I guess that could be causing the issue. How often does a pump really even run at 100% anyways in reality
So I just received a new Swiftech H240-X. The built-in pump while running at 100% speed makes about 25-30 dba of sound. Is this normal? I've never really done any water cooling before so I have no idea what to expect.
I actually just heard back from Seasonic customer support. (by the way, they have the best response time I have ever seen when contacting a company!)
They said it would be fine to mount the fanless PSU upside down in this particular case. Interesting as their manual advises against that.. but...
My build is only going to pull in 250 watts under peak load. I really didn't want to buy a 500 watt plus PSU just to get the platinum efficiency. Unfortunately most of the Platinum ones with fans all come in at well over that.
Hello! Planning a new build with the Rosewill W1 Mini ITX case:
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147221
I was hoping I could use a Seasonic Platinum 400 or 460W FANLESS PSU with this case.

There's a Massdrop deal going on right now for $64.99 + $8.99 shipping to the US for a CM Storm QuickFire Stealth mechanical keyboard. (MX brown switches)
I think these keyboards regularly go for more than 100 dollars on Amazon.
https://www.massdrop.com/buy/cooler-master-storm
I recently purchased a TKL CM Storm Stealth (Cherry Greens). After using it for a few days I realize I absolutely love the TKL design for every day typing. I feel like I'm sitting more square with my monitors.
However, I find myself wanting / missing a keypad sometimes for specific tasks...
Does anyone know if the ASRock Z97E-ITX/ac can do video capturing with it's passthrough HDMI In? Seems like an interesting feature in a motherboard this size.
I was asked to build a system for my brother who is into that kind of thing... he wants to do streaming on twitch.tv and wants...
I'm looking to build my first SFF system, but I'm worried about the air flow in the LIAN LI case I picked out.
I don't plan to game on this PC... it will be mostly used for programming and web design.
Here's the machine I was thinking of building:
LIAN LI PC-QA03B Case
Core i7 4790S...
According to the display support section of the tech page here, http://www.apple.com/mac-pro/specs/, it should support up to 3x4K monitors and 6x regular thunderbolt displays... (probably up to 2560x1600)
Of course, if you're looking to use a non-thunderbolt display you'll need an adapter. If...
I find that with a bluetooth keyboard the iPad actually makes a nice laptop replacement... of course, this really depends on what you need it to do for "work". For me, work means writing emails, managing my calendar, writing up documents, and coding. Of course, coding might be difficult... but I...
When I travel I do not normally have to do much development / coding. For this reason I think I might be able to get away with just having an iPad (since it's lighter and does all the things I need it to do) Besides, when I need to I could still remote into the mac mini from the iPad. Do you...
You are correct UnknownSouljer, I do want one machine for both... and I'd really like to be able to access it on the go if need be.
I'm starting to think the best option for me would actually be a mac mini. I already have an iPad and I can RDP to the mac mini if I'm in a pinch.. and it'd...
Where did you read that it was limited to 1080p?
I did a little bit more research and found this site: http://blog.macsales.com/14241-macbook-pro-15-with-retina-display-can-run-3-external-displays.
Looks like this guy managed to get a 1920x1200 resolution out of the HDMI port.
Thanks for your input everyone!
UnknownSouljer - The MBP with retina has 2 thunderbolt ports and an HDMI. Would it not be possible to use two thunderbolt to DVI adapters for two of the monitors and use an HDMI to DVI adapter for the third? Are there hardware limitations here that I'm not...
Hi everyone,
Let me just start by saying... I've been a Windows guy for years and I'm pretty new to the Apple world. I'm a software developer (mostly .NET / C up to now) and I need a machine that will allow me to dabble in both iOS development as well as Windows / .NET. This of course means...
Only going on until tonight at 11:59 PM PT. There's also a 60% deal for orders over $100.00

Well said.. .NET is awesome. You can develop great web applications and websites with ease. It's also a well documented and supported architecture and will be for some time to come. .NET continues to get used more and more every year by small and large businesses alike. There's a reason for...
I have two das keyboards. One with the mx browns and one with the mx blues. One of them has the blank keys and one is standard. I must say the blank keys look pretty darn good. If you don't do a lot of typing around others I recommend the blue switches as well. I love them and I would definitely...
Just picked up one of the Shimians. *crosses fingers* Hopefully I get a good one lol. From what I've seen on these forums everyone seems to be pretty happy with this brand / model.
So I've been out of the monitor market for quite some time now. Last time I looked the Dell 2407WFP 24" IPS panel was solid. Is this still the case? Is there a better option / brand I should keep an eye out for now? I'm looking for something around 24" for a new mac setup.
I can find the...
Looks like newegg has a promo going on for a lot of their Pioneer home theater speakers.
http://www.newegg.com/Store/BrandSubCategory.aspx?Brand=1167&SubCategory=494&name=Pioneer-Home-Audio-Speakers
I picked up the floorstanding ones for $120!
Best Buy's business is directly proportionate to the amount of old, technically illiterate people they can rip off. If there are no old people in your area then they most likely have shut down :P
Also... SWTOR has some pretty fun spaceship shooting games... it's on rails... kinda like Star Fox.
Ya I was wondering why there was such a different in price between new and refurb. I'm actually unsure what flavor my version is.
I always thought it was the IPS.
How can you tell the difference?
EDIT: Looks like this link can tell me the difference...
Hey guys,
Recently one of my 2007FP monitors has begun to flicker / blink to the point where I can no longer use it. It cuts out, blinks with lines through it and distorts the image beyond usability.
I've spent the better half of today trying to debug it. I've replaced the cables (power...
The card has 2 display ports. I've tried both... same issue happens :(
Hmm might have to try a better quality DVI cable potentially. It's just weird that it happens like this.
Hmm. I would imagine the 6970 and 6870 are pretty similar. Maybe I could try some firmware updates for the video card. I haven't done that yet.
UPDATE: There doesn't appear to be any firmware updates for that card... or at least none I can find. :(
