so let me get this right... you own a mac right? so that makes you a mac owner?
Yes you got it right, if my mother, her relatives, and my friends all had macs then they would need to know nothing about computers because they would just work. Consequently I would also have more free time on my...
I also forgot about the part where you are pulling out your hair because you have to either a)be tech support because your parents dell isnt working right b)your relatives calls because your mother tells them how "good with the computers and internets" you are c)all your friends that would...
HP = new one every 3 years because you upgrade ram and hard drive and its still slowing down more everyday. MAC = new one in 5 years, much better specs not really any slower. If i don't have the cash then I will wait for a new one after 6 years. That cheap HP really costs much more than the...
Three weeks ago I bought a 2.4 13.3 Unibody. Everything works out of the box, it just works. $40 for parallels, now I can install my windows xp and vista discs, its painless. OSX is easy for novices and power users alike. I looked at getting a dell and the Mac really was around the same price...
I bought this case for $89.99 US plus tax about two weeks ago. I guess they are being discontinued, at least at Frys. I walked by it and thought "this looks exactly like a Lian-Li (it is a re-branded V2000ish). I feel bad about my Stacker but this Tagan is much lighter. The only real draw backs...
Ikea gets much love from serious computer users. People still want to purchase the Jerker, which has been discontinued and replaced by the Fredrik. How many desks have an adjustable table top? This one moves from 25 5/8 to 38 5/8". It has a cable shelf for organization. I still have an old desk...
I have run into a problem that I am sure many others have too, I recently bought a 9800GTX for my system. Turns out that the behemoth of a card blocks 2 of my 4 SATA ports. So my question is this, can I buy a RAID card and use it to add my SATA hard drives? I do not want to create any RAID...
I found a pretty good deal oddly enough through a frys store and not online from Newegg (for once!). I picked up a stock EVGA 9800GTX for $350 -$50 Instant -$50 MIR. So all said and done I got the card for $270 (with tax) once I get the rebate from EVGA.
Well assuming that mailing your laptop isn't a choice there is an option
TrueCrypt - http://www.truecrypt.org/docs/ then Click "Hidden Volume"
In a nutshell, with this program, you could tell the guard that its encrypted to protect your documents in case your laptop is stolen. You give him...
This should be an awesome project. I have an idea but I am not sure how much time/money/finger-slicing you want to endure. It would be awesome to make that front of the case open like a door (even the Optical drive front plate). Inside the door that swings open, a backplane like this is...
I am not sure what route you want to go, but I hear drobo is pretty amazing. It will dynamically balance all of your data and spread it out across the Hard disk drives and the led's will let you know when they are full. Watch the Drobo demo video in the products tab to see all the features it...
Or you can make a boot disc with gParted burned on it. It is free, and I have not had any problems with it all.
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
Also, if you don't want to go through this every time you install XP, you should use nlite like the poster above said. It works really well. You...
ok so i hear u wanna get data off drive.. but this method works assuming problem is that laptop drive is dieing and not dead.. if itz ded, liek the PCB is ded.. then you are outta luck.. and u will have to pay company *thouzands* to get ur customerzes' data.. you could try freezing trick if HD...
:eek:Your right, there is no way for air to get in. He can only run the computer for 15 Minutes at a time. There are either holes in the latches of the fronts of the drive cage or the latches open up a little above and beneath each latch for the air to enter.
Just know that it is okay for there to be a clicking sound. It is just a matter of if the noise is a good click or a bad click. You should definitely have a backup of your data. I am pretty sure the raptors tend to be a little louder than your average drive, so maybe you did not hear it before...
Sometimes I will spread a very very thin layer on the heatsink too. Or in the very least I will test fit the heatsink after I spread the AS5 around just to make sure the heatsink is making good contact with the CPU and it will also help spread the AS5 a little bit.
I own two of the 4 in 3 cages and my thoughts are bittersweet. Yes you can have a floppy and it will be properly align with the outer mesh, my stacker came with one mesh front with a floppy size rectangle cut out of the middle. It will also hold 3 hard drives, what you lose is the ability to...
Oh the infinite power of google, peep this: I searched for the term: "average hard disk recovery prices." This is the second result. Talks about pretty much what you would "pay to get most if not all of my dad back."

Just to let you know...
That is a really nice setup, tons of room. I am going to be building a server soon with probably only about 1.5 TB of room. I will most likely be using Windows Home Server, it seems like it is a pretty straightforward OS, at least for my needs. I also agree with using nLite, it is amazing. I...
I am pretty sure that Crucial makes Ballistix. Also thirded on the Lian Li; if you can afford the case... :D The corsair PSU choice is rock solid. It should give you enough headroom if you want to buy an 88xx card in the future.
from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_drives
Hard disk drives are sealed to prevent dust and other sources of contamination from interfering with the operation of the hard disks heads. The hard drives are not air tight, but rather utilize an extremely fine air filter, to allow for air inside...
Yup, my searching only took like 1.56778 minutes, http://tinyurl.com/yqw9fu
support -> knowledge base -> search "Raptor" I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that one could use the molex or the SATA-style power connector? Guess not.
Are you trying to say: How are you going to know if your hdd will still work with the clear cover if it's dead? I think the hdd was dead before he took the top off.
Anyway, that looks pretty good so far. I would not have the guts to try to add a window to any of my hard drives.
Right, that means you could fit 10 HD drives + one optical. Although, from the pictures I have seen, you could buy something like this you could fit 5 hard drives into three 5.25 inch bays in the top of the case if you really need that much room. Hope that helps...
