    vista 64 user switching

I have this same problem, but it's intermittent. I'm on Vista x86 and have an Nvidia card. Usually I can fix it by: Log everyone out Log one user back in Reset resolution But eventually that stops working too and I have to reboot. Same thing happens on multiple PCs I have.

To be honest, I just don't know if/where the luminance value is stored in the EDID. If you can find how to alter the value in Phoenix and post the updated EDID here, I can help you with the Nvidia driver part.

    LG L246W

Is it possible to export the entire EDID? OverrideEDIDFlags0 works by using an offset value, so I'd need to see the whole thing to know where in the EDID these values are.

    LG L246W

Post the values of the EDID before and after the change. I'll try to help from there.

    LG L246W

You would actually use OverrideEdidFlags0 instead of updating the EDID EEPROM. Some documentation can be found here.

    LG L246W

For those attempting to update the EDID, if you have an Nvidia based card, you can override the EDID using the OverrideEdidFlags0 registry key.

L246WP display problem with HDMI video cards

Just to close this issue, a workaround exists for this on Nvidia cards. See http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1032078646#post1032078646 For ATI cards, this has been resolved as of Catalyst 7.10

    LG L246W

I did a comparison between the working and non-working EDID and the only difference is the last byte (before the checksum) is a 0 instead of a 1. So really the OverrideEdidFlags0 value just needs to be: 1E 6D 3F 56 00 00 FF FF 04 00 00 00 7E 01 00 The first 4 bytes identify the LG...

    LG L246W

Thanks to Blahman in this thread, we have a fix for this issue. I will post the exact instructions later (it's a little complicated), but basically you need to use OverrideEdidFlags0 with an EDID modified so that number of extensions is 0 rather than 1. This seems to disable the monitor...

NVIDIA EDID fix for "bugged" Westinghouse LVM-37w3se

Blahman, That worked! I can't tell you how long I've been trying to fix this, returning video cards etc. In case the problem wasn't clear from my posts in this thread, I was able to select 1920x1200 etc. through the drivers, but the monitor was always being set to 1080p by the video card...

NVIDIA EDID fix for "bugged" Westinghouse LVM-37w3se

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but the specs are: Monitor - LG L246W Video Card - ECS 8800GT Driver - 169.25 The issue is that the video card thinks the monitor is a TV since it's using HDMI. So it's forcing TV only modes like 1920x1080, 1280x720 etc. My suspicion is that it's due...

NVIDIA EDID fix for "bugged" Westinghouse LVM-37w3se

Hey guys, Does this work in Vista? I'm having trouble getting my HDMI monitor to display 1920x1200 and it's seeming like an EDID issue. Thanks, Bryan

    LG L246W

I can also set 1920x1200, but I wonder if the card is still enforcing whatever the EDID says regardless of what you can do in Windows. Also found this from http://www.digital-cp.com/home/HDCPSpecificationRev1_1.pdf: "State H1: Read EDID. Whenever HPD is active, the HDCP Transmitter must...

I wonder if this would help - Possible fix for Some Scaling Issues, I fixed my 8800 + Widescreen Scaling! My monitor's EDID also reports a max resolution of 1600x1200. The driver reports 1920x1200 though. My suspicion is that the NVidia card ignores the driver when hooked up over HDMI since...

    LG L246W

This is a problem with Nvidia's Vista drivers. The problem is with cards that support HDMI (even over the DVI port) and monitors that only have HDMI input. It was a problem with ATi cards (2600 etc) before, but ATi addressed it in their drivers. Some other threads on this issue...

    LG L246W

Just to clarify, are you saying if I use the adapter at http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=3526142, it will force the monitor into DVI mode? If you use the cable that came with the monitor, you are seeing HDMI mode correct?
  26. B

    LG L246W

Is there a way to force DVI mode on the monitor or the card? On my ATI and Nvidia cards that have HDMI support via DVI with adapter, the monitor still goes into HDMI mode.

L246WP display problem with HDMI video cards

Which driver version fixed the problem for you? Did you have to change any settings or it just worked? The last version I tried before returning the ATi card was 7.9 Strange that nVidia cards exhibit the same behavior.

L246WP display problem with HDMI video cards

Really seems like the monitor is going into some sort of TV mode when it's connected via HDMI (even over DVI on these cards). The text gets blurry, colors look wrong etc. I can only get 1080p to work if I force it using TV modes in the ATi driver. If I just set it to 1920x1080 through the...

L246WP display problem with HDMI video cards

These cards actually come with HDMI adapters, and are able to pass audio when using the adapter, so they are not just standard DVI w/ HDCP. When I was using an 8600 GT with standard DVI w/ HDCP, I did not have this issue. I have the same issue with ATi and Nvidia cards, so if it is driver...

L246WP display problem with HDMI video cards

I've tried both scaling options I have, which are "Full" and "Original". Neither one fixes it. Seems like the monitor will only accept TV resolutions like 720p and 1080p when using this type of video card.

L246WP display problem with HDMI video cards

Hi all, I've been having trouble getting my LG 246WP to work with any video card that supports HDMI, even without using a DVI->HDMI adapter on the video card. At 1920x1200, the right and left sides are cut off about 50%, hiding the start menu etc. I can see the full screen at 1024x768 and...

    LG L246W

It's actually this one, which has HDMI support rather than DVI w/ HDCP. I believe this is the cause of the problem, which leads the card to think it's talking to a TV. Unfortunately I don't see any way in the Vista nVidia drivers to disable "Treat as HDTV".

I think it's a specific problem with the 8600GT that supports HDMI. The PNY 8600GT which uses standard DVI (w/ HDCP) works fine. Does your 8600GTS support HDMI? No custom timings by the way.

I'm having trouble getting the monitor and my Asus 8600GT (EN8600GT/HTDI/256M) working. It seems like the card thinks it's talking to a TV, as only TV resolutions (1280x720, 1920x1080, 1024x768) will actually fill the display. When I use 1920x1200, about 50% of the sides of the image are cut...
