thx guys. not sure which I did helped. i moved out all the data. deleted the array and change from thick array to static volume and reflash the firmware. it so far has been stable, swapped the power cable too.
has been stable so far.
dedobot : logs just say improper shutdown. didnt say anthing at all. that was the first thing I checked.
spartacus09 : original ram is only 1 GB. i swapped for a 1x 4GB, available is only 3GB. yes, it has a stress test app but it doesnt run in a loop. yeah, the drives are the limiting factor...
i have a qnap 659pro2, 871 and 1282. my 871 was loaded with 8x 6TB, at one point the QNAP came up with a bad firmware that cause all my 6TB drives to die. according to HGST, the mainboard got burn out. HGST was blaming on QNAP, and QNAP denied. eventually they came out with a corrected firmwares...
I got a friend's NAS that seems to be unstable. he says it randomly reboots. he has brought it over to my office. when not in use, it seems it's fine. or at least when i use it, it's fine. his issue is it would randomly lockup or reboot.
I have backed up and removed all his data. he is running...
i do agree on macOS is ideal for video because of their ProRes codecs. and HEVC. I have seen a few macOS with 40 cores and 1tb of ram last year. they were mostly HP z8 with macOS. thats what most people are running in china. they do offline edit with macOS then they throw the rest to PC or...
lol i spoke too soon. 2hrs prime95 and system froze. zzzz i'm at least stable with 1333. any idea why i cant go above 1333 when everyone else can? mobo or cpu?
if i tighten 1333 from 9-9-9-24 to 8ish. is the speed bump significant? or it's just a waste of time?
now the question is should i leave it @ 1333 and stop playing with it and focus on the CPU or keeping trying the ram?
OT: i tried 3 sticks(12gb) 4.8ghz @ 133*36 @ 1.37v
primed for 5hrs=ok
I didnt trying a few times, i just 'felt' 1.37 would be ok. LOL
looks like my 990x is looking good...
zzzz. i tried pushing to BCLK160 to match to DDR3-1604
QPI 1.4v
dram 1.65
vcore 1.3
multiplier=24=3.8ghz
ram timings=9-9-9-27 1T
system still freeze.
I tried DDR3-1333
8-8-8-22-1T
QPI 1.4v
DRAM 1.65v
rock stable. primed for 10hrs=ok
i had the impression that the ratio kept...
i changed the rams to kingston hyperx 24gb kitset.
KHX1600C9D3K6/24GX Intel X.M.P, DDR3-1600, non-ECC, unbuffered DIMM 24GB
6 - 4GB 9-9-9-27 1.65V
and still have the problems
HOWEVER i got it stable @ 1333.
i emailed asus and they said
"**Due to Intel® CPU spec definition, XMP DIMMs...
any other applications to stresstest the rams/cpu other than prime95?
i know that passing prime95 doesnt mean it's stable.
currently running prime95 w/1 thread is because of temps
1 thread= 4.5ghz
6 threads=4.4/4.2ghz
12 threads=4.1/4.0ghz
P6T7 has this 'HIGH TDP MODE' that drops...
i'm now testing on 1600 it seems quite stable. I have set prime95 to 1 thread using 20Gb ram. gonna leave it running for a while. will update the results. thanks for all your help..
just curious, the fault lies with the CPU rather than the ram? i just find it weird that i have to dial down...
dang. it just BSOD on me again. with 0x1A or 0x4E
running prime95 custom 1 thread set to use 8gb of ram.
i'm now testing with 3x4Gb sticks of ram to confirm there is no stability issues again.
then i'll test the other 3x4Gb.
1366 for ram? so that means i get off from the XMP profile...
woah. ok. my old kingston rams XMP profile did 1.66v dram bus and 1.60 QPI
so what i did was i increased my QPI to 1.60v
i tried every 0.5 steps
1.3
1.35
1.4
1.45
1.5
1.55
1.6 bam! prime95 stable for at least 5mins. will run it long to see if it's really stable.
but damn. 1.6v? for...
hi guys, I'm having a weird problem
1) all 6x4 G.skill rams 9-10-9-28 @ 1.5v is not stable when all is plugged in.
2) when all 6 are in, it will pass memtest86+ but always freezes in bios or BSOD.
3) but testing each ram individually with memtest and prime95 = ok
I tried increasing DRAM to...
i think i need to get a new PSU too. my recent upgrade seems to be making my PSU twitching with weird BSOD.
full system specs
990x (recent upgrade) @4.53ghz 133@34 with silver arrow
all other fans are sony sflex 21F series(1600rpm) total 5x120mm fans

i could return anytime, IF i didnt threw away the box which i did.. zzzzz
anyway, i got myself a Just Cooler FC-100 slot exhaust fan. i cut away the metal grill behind for unobstructed airflow. the temps have dropped from 85c to 55c. so that pretty much solved the issue althou the nagging...
if i am going to stay with 51245, i gonna find a way to hook up a waterblock for it to be part of the water cooling or find a mini fan like those gfx fans to cool it down. last temp check was 87C.
yeah, i really missed 3ware interface. even a noob can find his way around in 3DM2.
i had another conversation with adaptec.
they said that there is curently no way to read SMART data in windows of any version. only linux can do that.
aww man, i just so WANT to switch again but to areca...
i'm also having the same problems with .12 drives with 51245. I accidentally found out that jumpering the drives to sata1 allows the adaptec to ID them.
the problem for you is probably find that many mini jumpers to jumper them.
chenbro issued a notice that they froze a certain batch of expander until they could fix the problem with a new firmware. could yours be one of them?
the more i use my adaptec, the more pissed off i get.
i just found out that my adaptec cant read SMART from the seagate drives.
WTH, even my...
i'm running P6T7. I was also having the same problem I had to shift both my SSD to sata2 and sata3 then it would detect as UDMA6 else it would have been PIO4.
even my dvd drive @ port1 was UDMA1
now it's @ port 5 at UDMA4
it's almost as if sata port0 and 1 are slow ports
anyone knows how to find the smart status of each drive from adaptec storage manager?
it's so easy to read smart status in 3ware but damn.. adaptec. been 2 weeks and i still cant find where to read the smart status.
** was looking at adaptec compatable drives. i see AS, SS, NS, SV but no ES...
I wonder if it's ES or NS.
was reading up on seagate forums.
apparently one of the biggest problems with seagate is it's not raid friendly.
it doesnt let the raid do the error correction.
WD has this tool called WDTLER.
anyway.. whats the temp of your adaptec?
mine is currently...
here's an update. if i jumper'd the drive to sata1, the drive can be detected by adaptec.
the question is, should i leave it @ sata1 or swap it for 7200.11?
sigh. it must be my luck. I came from matrix to 3ware to adaptec.
at least my old 9650SE 8port shows each drive's SMART and temp.
and at least every drive seems to work with 3ware flawlessly.
and the person who designed adaptec storage manager ought to be shot.
at least everything that's...
anyone here managed to get their adaptec 5805 / 51245 / 5405 to detect/load 7200.12 drives?
i have got a 51245 adaptec and mine dont seem to load/detect 7200.12 500Gb seagate drives. but it detects 7200.11 500gb seagate drives fine.
my adaptec firmware is currently 17517 which is the...
bcdedit doesnt work anymore
KB938194 doesnt do anything with device signing
it's KB932596 & KB938979 for x64 systems. i have yet to see what are the patch numbers for x86.
