Micro LED TV mass production in 2023

Have to deal with LGs a lot and the problem with OLED Burn in is significant. These are TV that start at $2000 and go up in price. Well, just upgraded from a 32" 720p TV I've had for years to a 58" 4K TV I paid $299 for on a after Christmas special. For what I paid I can't complain.

Xiaomi Mi Surface 34-inch Gaming Display review: The true 2k 144Hz monitor

I was actually thinking of picking up a curved screen gaming monitor for Christmas. But it seems that VESA mounts are a think of the past for gaming monitors. Deal breaker. I got away of desktop sitting monitors 15 years ago.

I wasn't aware of that system but there has been 12" platter WORM optical discs for ages. Widely use for image archiving in hospitals. Obsolete now but a similar tech.

They LIED!! – The TRUE Story of the Philips CD-i – RARE CONSOLE HISTORY

Nope. My CDi ended up on EBAY before long. I considered just keeping it for a "high end" single disc player. But in truth it sounded like sh*t on CD playback. It sound like it had DACs in it from a boom box.

Radeon RX 5500 XT Launch Review Round Up

Past few years I've been in a long term "wait and see" mode. Right now even my old FX8150 does fine for 1080p gaming. I was really wanting to upgrade to at lest a Ryzen 7 mainly not for gaming but media productions. But the majority of that stuff I simply don't do anymore. The old FX system...

Radeon RX 5500 XT Launch Review Round Up

Yeah, Put me down for a solid "Meh". I don't game beyond 1080p and my $100 Ebay special 8GB RX580 card does a great job at that resolution.

They LIED!! – The TRUE Story of the Philips CD-i – RARE CONSOLE HISTORY

WELL: a subject I have some expertise in. I worked for Philips/ Magnavox when the CDi first hit the market and I owned the first gen version of it. The unit itself has a lot of potential that went unexplored. The CDi was NOT marketed as a gaming console. It was marketed as an "interactive...

Upgrade to a 27-inch, high-definition IPS monitor with game-smoothing FreeSync tech for $100

AOCs are not all that bad. I have 2 of them on my work setup. But what pisses me off is that most of these "gaming" monitors now do not have provision for a VESA mount now. That is NO BUENO for me!

Silicon Valley’s psychedelic wonder drug is almost here

Why does this all sound so familiar? Of course! Lobotomy to cure mental illness. It worked and kept the mentally unstable calm by giving them brain damage. Downside? Well, basically it turned a human being, brother, mother, friend, into a zombie. But the non-flesh eating kind. But Hey...

BOE starts mass production of Micro OLED panels

Don't agree. What we have see so far is this display technology start with a crawl and now take it first few wobbly steps. The technical requirement are very steep because what must be accomplished is nothing less than a human-machine interface that satisfies the latency and resolution our...

Windows 10 users fume: Microsoft, where's our 'local account' option gone?

I think it is widely enough accepted now that Microsoft 10 is a BAD PRODUCT. That being the case the following phrase has become as ubiquitous as "can it run Crysis" "Ahem.... Linux Anyone?"

Rumor : AMD Bringing Ray Tracing Support to Navi in December

Yeah; you are right. Just seemed a bit odd to me since it was AMD pointed out that legacy API was stiffing innovation; thus their work on Mantle and that lead to VulKan. Shouldn't say AMD was alone in this. John Cormack talked about this same issue years before.

US Navy just patented a very compact fusion reactor.

Agree; I've kept my eye on this tech for a long time. From everything I've read it still take more energy to create the fusion reaction than what the energy yield is. Yes it works, but the technology has not matured yet. It is still not economically viable.

Another example of not owning Adobe software you paid for.

Yeah, I like Vegas a lot and it is hard when you get the feel of one NLE package to switch to another. I switched to linux several years ago 100% except for occasional gaming (now I can do that on Linux to if I wanted). For a long time most NLEs were a buggy mess for Linux but a few have...

Another example of not owning Adobe software you paid for.

Man, quit using Adobe products ages ago. The final straw was paying full price for Adobe Premiere and when it kept crashing was told by Adobe support "Oh, that is a bug. That has been fixed in latest version." What other business can you sell a DEFECTIVE product an have to bear little...

    The End of Blu-ray

Had a buddy with a Pioneer laser disc player; he had Pink Floyd The Delicate Sound of Thunder live concert on Laserdisc. I remember it had just come out. He said the disc cost $60 bux. I think this was 1988, or 1989. A bunch of us gather for a watch party. He had a nice TV with a...

    The End of Blu-ray

Never owned a set top Blu-ray player. Just a PC Blu-Ray player which I ripped discs with. And I got out of that several years ago. I was always a movie fan; but I'm a fan of GOOD movies. In the day of Disney Star wars and comic book hero movies there is just no place for me anymore. The...

Extremetech: Intel Is Suddenly Very Concerned With ‘Real-World’ Benchmarking

Now remember a couple years back when some at AMD pointed out that most PC benchmark apps FAVORED Intel CPUs? Does anyone recall that most everyone laughed and called it sour grapes? The task of the day was to take turns pissing on AMD. Well, well, well. How the tide has...

Obsidian Entertainment: The Outer Worlds – Come to Halcyon Trailer

Yeah have to agree. What catches my eye is realistic lighting and it doesn't have to be ray tracing to look descent. All the shadows are "lit" and you don't see the bright and dark contrast of direct sun light. Makes it look cartoonish.

Star Citizen's single player game delayed again

I'm glad I'm an old fart now and really don't care if Star Citizen flies or flops. But there was a time when I would have been chomping at the bit and might have even did the "buy in" for vaporware. When I read about the guy that mortgaged his house to buy virtual property in Second Life I...

    Are PoE specs universal?

We have several devices that operate as PoE. We have to use power bricks in line with the ethernet cable. As you can guess this adds up to a wiring mess behind desks, etc. The whole idea with PoE was to eliminate this kind of thing. I've since found that PoE network switches have become very...

Intel has moved a step closer to commercial neuromorphic computing

So I guess this is where Intel has been focusing it's resources instead of the desktop CPU market. They have been pioneering the next level of computing. Not surprised, it seemed to me they didn't really care about the challenge from AMD since they had bigger fish to fry.

Yeah, My "gaming rig" is a 8350. I don't game beyond 1080p so it ROCKED with a RX480 card. The demand for those cards got huge so I pulled it out and sold it when the bit mining craze was hot. Played The Witcher 3 at 1080p, all setting maxed. Never a hiccup. Been planning on grabbing a...
