Vega, you are a champion. But photobucket? Why not imgur?
zone64 thanks for your insight.
To the guy that wandered in here asking for OLED IPS, I think my eyeballs almost rolled out. Thanks for the laugh.
As for curved vs flat, curved makes more sense as the screen gets bigger, keeping...
At lower resolutions a faster refresh rate may be possible than at higher resolution.
Faster refresh rate means lower latency and smoother motion, important for fast paced games. Sometimes it's better for game play to have info faster than at higher resolution.
Lower resolutions also offer...
I'm considering buying an QNIX QX2710 27" 2560x1400 IPS LCD,
but is it really better than my L246WP 24" 1920x1200 PVA panel?
Sure its bigger, but it's IPS and the DPI is higher, so it will run slower graphic wise, but potentially at higher frame rate (120hz vs 60hz). Also the contrast will...
It depends on how close you are. If you are at least 20" from the 30" display then yes.
A 30" 4096x2160 display (154 PPI) at 3.8' viewing distance (typical for a TV) gives a pixel-per-degree (PPD) of 3.8*12*154*2*tan(pi/360) = 123 PPD. At one foot away, the PPD goes down to 32 PPD. But if you...
If you get an overclockable one:
http://overlordcomputer.com/
and have beastly GPU setup you can get >60fps.
Or if you only want 1080p you could also get a 120hz TN like the 144hz asus.
Martha, thanks for pics. Would you call the coating semi-glossy?
Sasquatch, sorry I was confusing you with Martha. Also, looks like I was wrong about it being glossy. Also, it seems like any light coming from anything (montior, led's) might make your face show up as a reflection if it is...
I thought we established that this is a glossy monitor, so it should be pretty different. Also, I thought you said you got overnight shipping yesterday, so it should be there today right?
This monitor, at $700, costs as much as a 30" 16:10 2560x1600 monitor from monoprice but only has 67.5% the vertical resolution. However, it is 1.28" wider (a 16:10 monitor would have to be 31.5" diagonal to be the same width).
Maybe you care about smoothness and bandwidth but in a competitive setting latency is what matters. All the smoothness in the world won't help you if its 5 seconds late.
EDIT: Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the important thing is how well it allows you to track the crosshairs on one's screen. Hmm, in...
Just as a point of reference.. going from 120hz to 144hz would mean frame updates 1.38ms faster.
That's not quite the same jump as going from 60hz to 120hz (8.33ms).
I do wish the 3d could operate at 72hz... that would be the biggest benefit.
Also, I prefer the flat top in this model. But I...
Only if you get a particular model. Most models moved to cheaper components which only support mild overclocking. To get 100+hz you'll need the one being sold at 120hz.net.
I'm not familiar with Nvidia scaling options. Could I get the 2560x1440 120hz catleap (with no internal scaler) and use...
If you can't see the difference in moving a window around at 120hz vs. 60hz there is something wrong with your screen or mouse, or your eyes. It's very obvious. The 120hz one should be ultra smooth and snappy.
So when you use the Spyder, are you changing anything in your OS or are you still doing (guided) manual adjustment of controls through the monitor? In other words, could I just copy your settings without buying a Spyder?
Seems doubtful, but who knows? It's dubious whether the HDMI spec requires 1080p120 or whether any HDMI chipset can handle it. Source:

Saw this monitor on display at Fry's in Manhattan Beach. It looked pretty good, but it's hard to really tell just from the low-quality video they had looping.
If it was cheaper I would buy it (online of course )
Damn, this thread was on page 8.
I've been checking prices every day and they aren't really going down, hovering around $670.
Meanwhile the Samsung S27A750D came out and is available for as low as $587. WTF.
Wow... this design is full of fail. No VESA, no DVI, glossy, and requires a brick power cord. Plus it might not support 3d vision. Wow.
The only thing it has going for it is it's not asymmetric like the 950d.
Ahhh... maybe that time period where all HN274H were out of stock was when they "temporarily suspended" production. Maybe the original models came without overdrive and now the ones currently for sale have overdrive.
If I go to Acer's site:
http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/ET.HH4HP.001...
http://www.digitalversus.com/5-ms-screens-3d-tvs-monitors-please-news-20194.html
DigitalVersus added some kind of update regarding the response time on the HN274H. Did Acer really suspend production? Or is that in the past and it's fixed now?
Overdrive comes with input lag and inverse ghosting. The latter of which they reported seeing on the GN so it probably has overdrive and the corresponding input lag.

EDIT: Thanks for info on panels. I'm going...
The crosstalk could be the same as the 2233rz. We can't tell since they changed their testing method. All we know is it's worse than Acer's 23" sibling.
It sounds like the 23" is doing overdrive which I suspect adds a frame of input lag. So maybe the 27" has no overdrive and also no input lag...
NCX, I appreciate your feedback, but I have to agree with the others here.
You've taken one single review (which could be wrong) and turned it into 20 forum posts about how terrible the monitor must be. Meanwhile there are dozens of 5/5 ratings and positive reviews of the monitor.
That dv...
Wow, you're right. That's pathetic. Plus they don't have the VESA mount version. I'm going with the Acer HN274H, but maybe wait for a price drop on that since it's $690, which is rather high. Compared to these Samsungs though, it's a bargain!
It appears from the glow surrounding the mouse cursor on the Samsung vs. the Dell that the Samsung is a lot brighter. Even if they are both "100%", each monitor likely has a different max brightness. It appears the Samsung is a lot brighter, which could explain the extra bleed. Manufacturers...
I just bought the 2233rz + Vision 3D glasses + GTX 260 from tigerdirect (No tax in CA + $1.99 s&h) for $576.98-10.2% bing cashback - $30 MIR = $488.33 :D :D
