Sounds like either would work. I don't have any reason to go in when she's not there. If anything, she would want to watch what I'm doing to learn for next time.
Thanks for the suggestions!
My mom has a Mac and sometimes has things she needs help with. It's tough for me to help her since I don't remember exactly what things are called or where they're located (Windows user).
I'd like to get some sort of a screen share or remote help app installed on her Mac that I could use to...
Agreed. I love higher resolution because I don't really need AA at that point. At 1440p, AA is almost indistinguishable unless you have it cranked to some crazy level.
Full disclosure: I've always thought AA was hardly noticeable, and now my bias grows since I try to do everything at 1440p. :D
That sounds plausible, but it's silly because those Nvidia-branded cards are likely made by one of the big vendors anyway.
I wonder if they're engineering samples or something that was never intended to be sold?
Yeah, that's what I noticed. They're having a hard time keeping those in stock, so there's probably no reason to lower prices. Cheapest I see the G1 for is $369, and the FTW for $379.
They have the free Ubisoft game promo going right now, that's all.
I feel like the GTX 970s (the factory overclock ones, full-size) are hovering around $369 and have been for a while. Specifically, the Gigabyte G1 and eVGA ACX FTW.
Is a price break on the horizon sometime later this month, or will there be one sometime next year? I have been eyeing the 970 for...
My Netgear WNDR4000 might be dying a slow death. In the past month, it needs to be rebooted every few days or else you just can't get out to the Internet.
The router itself still has an IP address from the cable modem and shows activity, and the status page still reports that it has a valid...
Less than a month ago I bought an ASUS Z87-A, Core i7 4770, and 2x4GB sticks of Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 RAM. This exact RAM is listed in the ASUS compatibility guide as being 2133-compatible, for what it's worth.
About 1 in 10 times I power the machine on, the fans will spin up and...
Reinstalled Windows and the problem returns. There is definitely something about this wireless adapter and the motherboard (or maybe the Z87 chipset). Netgear of course told me to pound sand since I'm out of warranty.
If I do replace it, I need to ensure I don't get one that has the same...
I bought an Asus Z87-A today and decided to re-use my Netgear WNDA4100 USB adapter.
Through process of elimination, I have deduced that anytime this wireless adapter plugged into any front or rear USB port, there is a strange delay at the Windows login screen where the keyboard and mouse do not...
This fucking problem still exists on 331.65 (and Chrome 30.0.xxxx). Unbelievable. I used to be a pretty die-hard NVIDIA fan but this is just ridiculous. And yes, I have the value of 8 in the registry for TdrDelay, the built-in Flash, and no GeForce experience or 3D crap installed. I'm *this...
Nothing in the system is overclocked, and it's rock-solid other than this. I'm still fairly certain it's the shit NVIDIA drivers. I've rolled back to 314.22 and not a single problem.
Is anyone else seeing poor stability even with 327.23? I am still getting the same random hangs and BSODs in Chrome.
Event Viewer shows the same event ID 14 ("unknown") from nvlddmkm, \Device\Video5 !0702(1a58). This is the Timeout Detection and Recovery bug, also known as TDR.
Is NVIDIA still...
Replaced the PSU with a Corsair HX750. Problem remains, and I'm pissed because now I'm basically out $100 on that PSU that I didn't need.
I'm RMAing this motherboard. First issue I've ever had with an eVGA product.
Same instability as 320.49 with my GTX 560 Ti (single). Random "driver has crashed" errors in Windows Explorer, but never in actual games. Piece of shit.
The onboard audio is not 100% clean -- there is still some RFI but it is considerably quieter under most circumstances. On the USB DAC, while playing some of the dialogue-heavy scenes of Mass Effect 3, you could hear all the weird buzzing and squealing. I just replayed some of those same parts...
Reseated all PSU connections. No change. It's a Thermaltake TR2 RX 650W. Short of swapping PSUs, any other way to verify that's the problem? I could RMA it but it's going to be hard to prove a problem.
Yes, I had suspected a ground loop issue. Already tightened all the motherboard screws and checked for loose connections -- no change.
eVGA support spewed some worthless suggestions of "flash your BIOS" and "update the audio drivers", but eventually said I should RMA it. Should I just take...
Long story made short, my external DAC (Audinst HUD-mx1) is picking up a shitload of RFI. It's connected via USB, and the RFI is present regardless of what port I use (six on the rear, with two on the front of the case). Tried a few other USB cables, all of which have a built-in ferrite...
Wasn't aware the 320.xx family was experiencing problems -- I thought it was just the .18. I'll rollback for the time being.
And no, nothing is overclocked.
For the last month or so my GTX 560 Ti has been really flaky. While I'm just in Windows Explorer doing whatever, the whole system will lock up for a few seconds, the screen goes blank, then I get the "blah blah NVIDIA driver has crashed and recovered".
It never happens in games, just on the...
Actually the USB cable and power cord both have those already.
I think that somehow the speakers themselves are picking up the noise -- not the DAC. I can confirm this by unplugging the XLR cable from the rear of the speaker and yet some of that interference is still audible. I don't understand...
Well this problem persists. I tried moving the DAC to a different location, swapped USB cables, moved to new USB ports, and nothing has changed. Still lots of faint static and digital noise as the wireless NIC works, the mouse moves, the SSD reads/writes, and so on.
I've also since added the...
Okay, good info. Didn't have experience with that kind of cable. These Blue Jeans Cable cables are pretty heavily shielded -- they're not cheap by any stretch.
The DAC is sitting on the desk. The PC itself is on the floor off to the side. Moving the DAC doesn't seem to make any difference...
My PC has an Audinst HUD-mx1 USB DAC. It's connected to a pair of JBL LSR2325 monitors with Blue Jeans LC-1 cable, about 3 feet in length.
Lately I am noticing a lot of hum/static/hiss -- likely interference from the nearby LCD monitor and desktop computer. I have heard that XLR cables are...
Man, the 4550 must be a real turd if an old 8800GT can beat it by that much.
I guess I'm spoiled as I played the original on a GTX 260 and am now replaying it on a GTX 560 Ti.
I remember reading somewhere that putting a dim light behind your TV/monitor helps reduce eyestrain and actually improves perceived contrast ratio. For many years I have run a strip of IKEA Dioder LEDs behind my monitor that make the wall behind it light up a bit. I liked it for the aesthetics...
