Just doing my daily read on Guru3d and saw this.
Good to see NVMe come to a more consumer oriented product than Intel's offerings.
Having just bought a non-NVMe SM951 a few months ago, I thought It'd be annowed, but instead I feel like I'll still get plenty of use out of it. Although I...
I'm looking to upgrade my server cheaply to handle more concurrent video transcode streams. On Gigabytes website I see that this board handles some Xeon's but makes no mention of the 32nm 6-core Xeon's. Anyone able to shed any light on this?
Looks like Polyphony Digital's big media frenzy for their franchise kicks off in just over 2 hours (15:00 GMT). GTPlanet seems to be a good place to get the news as it comes in, but if anyone knows of any news sources that will be live updating from Silverstone, it'd be greatly appreciated...

So far, the best drivers I've had with BF3. Smooth with no hiccups, and giving a few frames more than the June 4th betas. Eyefinity tearing issue with non-matching display connections is sorted in these drivers as well.
All in all, I'm very happy with these.
Any other...
In need of a bit more space so I'm upgrading my 128GB M4. I can currently get a 256GB M4 or Samsung 830 within £5 of each other...
Which would the [H]ard community suggest, and why?

Looks like these are now moved up to driver revision 9.00. Installing now to test with BF3 eyefinity. Will post back with results.
EDIT: New drivers about on par with the June 4th ones in BF3. Smooth to say the least and decent fps.
Seems Codemasters have done quite a change to the FOV since the demo. Feels like you're racing from the viewpoint of a tightly zoomed in camera. Makes judging the corners annoying and there's no sense of speed now.
Anyone else experiencing this and know how to change the FOV?
I currently have a Dell 2407 and a HP LP2475w I am using as a dual screen setup. Since the wife is going to bak to uni, I'm setting up a second pc and one of those monitors are likely to go.
I'm now using this as an opportunity to toy with an eyefinity setup.
I rather like the HP but...
So, the time has come to upgrade my server, and a better PSU it needs! I've decided to go a bit overboard and get enough of a PSU for it to more than handle the day it finally reaches 24x HDDs.
I am currently running a Enermax Galaxy DXX 1000W PSU in my sig rig and am thinking about...
Seems that regardless of what codecs I have installed, this sound card won't bitstream any formats when the Dolby digital live option is enabled. It's almost as if it reports that it cannot bitstream and forces the system to decode the 5.1 stream and then the sound card re-encodes to a DD...
Have an issue where movie images (both cover artwork and backdrops) aren't being downloaded, metadata is fine though. This started a few days ago. With TV episodes, everything works fine. Anyone else experience this or have any ideas? I've reinstalled, cleared caches, done all the tricks and no...
I'm hitting 3.8GHz at 1.168v. Idles at 50 degrees and hits 78 degrees while prime95'ing overnight. I can do 4.0GHz stable, but that requires a bump to 1.3v.... why the huge jump in power needs for only a 200MHz gain?
Built a system for a mate last month thats in need of better cpu cooling. In the case is a i5 750 with stock cooling and a Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H. The motherboard places the cpu socket more towards the direction of the PSU that most motherboards, so regular slim tower coolers don't seem like...
Since it's going to be using Steamworks, does that mean i can get the Limited Edeition version of the game in store (cheaper than it'll likely be on steam) and just drop the serial into steam and be able to keep it on that account?
Thing is, the only dealings with steam I have is buying...
Looking for something I can use while in the dark on trains and flights. Not looking to get a powerhouse as I'll be doing basic photo editing and internet useage.
All the chatter seems to focus on Intels and OCZs drives, and I cant seem to find much chatter on Samsungs drives. I'm seriously considering this as it's big enough for what I need at a budget I can just about stomach. Anyone here have experience with this or their other drives?
Also, with...
Built this new rig a few weeks ago and had an issue straight away where only 10GB of the RAM is shown as usable. I lowered the speed to somewhere around 1140MHz and all seemed fine.
But after I moved house this week, and hooked everything back up, it's reverted back to not showing all the...
..... in the UK!!!! O2 in the UK started giving free unlocks to contract customers and 15 quid unlocks to 12 month customers. Be interesting to see how much the value of the phone goes up.
Finally we get something better/before than the yanks. Back to my 18 quid a month 50mb internets. :)
Came accross this recently, works fine, just the original account was canacelled a few months ago. If you're know what you're doing with these, then you know why you'd want it. It's the Sceintific Atlanta 8300 model.
90 squids pickup only. Portsmouth.
Finally doing an upgrade to a 920 and all that jazz, however, one thing is keeping me. I'm having a hard time finding a board that supports DDLive with the onboard audio. Could just be bad specification descriptions on resellers websites, but I can't seem to find one. Any suggestions?
Couldn't see any other thread about this, so yeah! It's gorgeous, as we expected. Plays well. Handling is pretty much spot on. Even more anxious for the game to ship next month!
Even though I have plenty of cash bursting a few seams in my wallet, I just might wait for the 2GB 5870 model. Anyone have any guesses when it may be released? How long did it take for the 1GB version of the 4870 to be released?
Just got such a good deal on this monitor that I couldn't say no. It's big, great design, only problem is that it's a TN and the colours are over saturated. I'm a bit of a monitor calibration noob so, I was wondering is there any obvious way to tone down the saturation in the monitor in the...
So I got a deal on one I couldn't pass up. I've heard all the jazz about it's cooling issues. My sig rig will likely be going into it sinbce the Antec 900 is just a bit too noisy. I was hoping some of ya'll would have some pointers on what can make this a good cooling rig.
So I've got a WHS setup up and running today. 80GB for OS and basic storage, and a 300GB for extended storage. Something to test and play with till I can justify a full blown build.
The 300GB drive gets added to the storage pool just fine, however anyything outside of the console states that...
I haven't played it. I've gone as far as staying away from friends places when I knew they were playing, starting from launch (I had a gut feeling I'd see it on PC before year end). All n all, I made a point to avert my eye's. And I'm damn glad I did. From the few comparison shots I've seen, it...
So I'm running a 4870 with a 22" HP as my main, and a 42" LG for my video duties. However, When I run video through the 42" The video ratio is all messed up, squished top to bottom. So everything appears wide. However, when I run the same video through my 22" display, the ratio is fine.
So...
I'm running a 22" HP through HDMI as well as a 42" LG through VGA. The HP serves as my primary and the LG is for the occasional movie. I recently changed from an 8800GT to a 4870 and weirdness has been popping up! I can set up the dual monitor setup just fine as I like it, but when I turn off my...
Had a bit of an accident with my D40 while its body was wide open and ended up with a REALLY dirty sensor. I had heard about the great job that the Lenspen Sensor Klean does... and gave it a go. Overpayed for it I'm sure (15 quid) but heres the results:
100 % cropped, different colours due to...
Just got Pinnacle 3010ix, excited to be able to record 2x programs at once, and go PCIe only. However, it's been anything but exciting.
First off, it causes my system to BSOD when I have 4GB of ram (running Vista x64). I considered using BlackGold drivers to fix that, but that was a last...
So for the past few days, my main machines net connection has come to a crawl. I've had no issues with my laptop running vista (32 bit), my ipod touch seems fine, and I tri-boot OSX86 and ubuntu on my main rig and they run fine as well. The connection is so bad on my main vista install that I'm...
So I'm rocking a 900 but cant stand having the change the panty-hose filters once a week (a really dusty house to it gets to be really annoying).
I'm set to sell on the case and some other bits for about £100 and can afford to add another £50 on top of that for a new case. The Lian Li V2010...
