I wonder when review sites will move on from 1080p as a standard for benchmarking CPU performance / scaling in games. I know why 1080p is used, it’s just funny to see graphs scaling out to 1000 FPS for some games.
“When looking at the $2,000 AMD 11950x5d in 1080p, you can see the 7322.8 FPS for...
That was a good read, thank you for digging up and sharing this! Maybe a good approach would be to pick up a newer PSU and have it on standby while I test the old one. If I run into issues, swap it. If I don’t, then just return the new one.
I have a working and in good condition Silencer MK III 1200 which I bought for a build back in 2015. It has worked beautifully through upgrades, including 2 and 3 way sli setups, but the most recent cpu and gpu I’ve paired with it are a 9700K and single 2080 Ti (both overclocked on custom water...
I didn’t bother to read the whole thread so sorry if this is a repeat. I think another potential generational difference may be driven by the fact that every game we grew up on looked like ass when compared to modern games / graphics. If there was any change you could make to improve the...
Wasn’t on a single credit but I remember beating the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game.
When I was 7 or 8, my mom worked at a pizza place that had an arcade attached. On days I had to go with her, her coworkers would give me cup fulls of free arcade tokens to use while they...
While this is a funny analogy, I gotta disagree, lol. Plenty of people can and routinely do control or limit themselves with regards to gambling. The guy you’re describing seems to be on the extreme opposite end of that spectrum. 😛
I got bored of it pretty quickly as well. It was fun at first but after the 4th story dungeon area I felt like I’d seen all the game had to offer gameplay wise and nothing else really hooked me. While the combat felt good and I enjoyed being able to switch classes at will, the loot system...
I’ve been playing pretty much exclusively in coop and yes it is very fun! Only issues my wife and I had were during the first week getting connected to servers (but we could still play coop over lan).
Same here, and agreed on the positive changes! The Tiny Tina expansion for BL2 was my wife and I’s favorite Borderlands content by far, but Wonderlands is on pace to dethrone it.
Only times I’ve been frustrated over compatibility or odd game behavior on pc was due to 1) a faulty component, 2) SLI on Nvidia cards, or 3) poor driver support on early ATI / AMD cards. If anything, it feels like those types of issues have become less common in PC gaming over recent years...
Just FYI, I can confirm that the .ini tweak to reduce the thickness of the black outlines on various models/objects in BL3 also works in Wonderlands! I copied the steps for BL3 (from a Reddit post) below and just swapped out the game folder:
- Go to C\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Tiny...
I turn 40 next year but have had a similar history with gaming and feeling guilty (or sometimes depressed in my case). I’ve taken 1 - 2 year breaks from gaming, last one being shortly after my son was born (he’s 6 now). In each case there was something else important going on in my life and I...
My wife and I had a similar issue with motion sickness which never occurred in prev BL games. We noted 3 problems which contributed to this:
- FOV slider at 105-110 felt too zoomed out, had to dial back to 95-100.
- Slow mouse movements were jittery af, you could see the cursor kind of...
To the ops question as to whether or not the grey market sites or their keys are legit I’d recommend checking out this article:
https://lockesjourney.wordpress.com/2016/03/17/the-hard-truth-about-g2a-kinguin-and-grey-market-keys/
Provides a detailed analysis of how these sites operate and...
I’ve successfully bought from Kinguin, G2A, Gamivo, Eneba, and CDKeys. I have run into trouble on a couple of occasions (I think both times with G2A) where I got issued a key for the wrong region or the key was already activated (I was however able to get a refund or new key). Those are the...
+1 for Human Fall Flat. This has been my son’s favorite game for past 6 months (he turned 6 in Dec). We play split screen coop and its all of the things chameleoneel described.
I’ve also been really picky with what my son can play and usually look for games with multiplayer / coop so I can get...
I’ve been using the Glorious model O for a bit over a year (used a G502 for several years prior) and while it has worked fine for me, it’s good, but not great.
Model O has great feet/skates, a nice cord, and is very light, but functionally feels like a downgrade from the G502 in many ways. I...
The headrests have worked out great all things considered. I think I drilled the holes a little too low on the Amia (about 3.25” from top of the plastic on the back) as we have to put the headrest on nearly its tallest setting. It still works great for my wife but you’d probably want to drill...
Not that big of an issue in my eyes. I’ve been asked to work mandatory weekends to get software out, and I’ve been in the spot of having to ask teams to do the same. Nothing I’ve worked on is anywhere close to being significant financially as putting out a huge AAA title like Cyberpunk must be...
Anyone get around to playing the new DLC yet? I got it downloaded but won’t get a chance to play until maybe Sunday. Initial reviews / feedback haven’t been great (too short, feels rushed, recycled environments) but it probably didn’t help that Gearbox was hyping it up to be as good as Tiny...
Agree with the comments on the formula being a little stale but still in. Co-op for me is the real draw, tackling missions with a partner opens up so many possibilities for chaos to ensue which almost always means more fun.
Decided to keep both the Leap V2 and Amia (replacing my wife’s old leather executive chair). Here are a couple of pics with headrests installed. Have to be willing to drill holes in the backs of the chairs for anyone curious.
Amia on the left, Leap on the right:
How the headrests are attached:
Thank you guys for the suggestions. I spent a lot of time researching and ended up going the used chair route to save money since I didn’t have a way to test the chairs ahead of time and didn’t want to get stuck with something expensive I really didn’t like. As a result I ended up with 2 used...
I was trying to stay under $500 but would spring for a pricier chair (like the Steelcase Leap) if it seems like the best long term choice. Ideally I want a chair which will remain supportive and functional for another decade (if not longer), so can justify the additional expense as an investment...
Like the title suggests, I’m looking for a new office chair and having a hard time deciding so looking for some suggestions. Here’s what I’m looking for and some background on what I’ve been using.
Looking for:
- Headrest (adding aftermarket is fine if it’s not too janky)
- Padded, non-mesh...
I finally got a chance to play for more than a few minutes and found that I was also having some issues with stuttering / random hitching despite having high fps. The fix for me was to set the game back to full screen (windowed full screen previously) and in the Nvidia control panel, force...
For what it’s worth, I’ve been using a 55” E7 (bought used) as my daily pc monitor for over a year now and not had any burn in (primary use is gaming). I know some people have been affected by burn in, but I think, barring a defective unit or an extreme usage case, the vast majority of OLED TVs...
I’ll have to try out RGB for comparison. I’ve been using 4:4:4 just based on limited online feedback I read about HDR10 on the PC, but never went back to test RGB. Just another excuse to jump on and play BL3 again tonight. :D
Interesting, and good to know about dx12! I’ve got some other HDR games I now need to go back and revisit to see if I’ve had the same problem.
I tried out HDR last night and agree with mr_zen256, it is really well implemented! All of the lighting sources just pop so much more vividly (neon...
Awesome, thanks for confirming!
I was pretty disappointed when I didn’t see HDR options in Video settings the first day; figured BL3 would look awesome in HDR. Can’t wait to try it out tonight.
I just learned about this today but apparently the pc version supports HDR:
Still gotta test it out when I get home but got really excited when I found out! Apparently the video options for HDR only show if you explicitly enable HDR in Windows before launching the game. Most HDR enabled games...
Haven’t read all the latest comments so sorry if this is already posted. For me the biggest FPS hit has been from volumetric fog. Set it to Medium or off for a significant performance boost. I was able to turn everything else up to ultra after setting Volumetric fog to medium.
It’s also...
I’m with ya. Going back to play the new BL2 expansion I really missed the double jump and ground slam controls. I also feel like the ‘pets’ in TPS were way less annoying and more effective than BL2 options.
I do still feel BL2 is the superior game overall, thanks in part to Tina’s DLC (which...
