I've decided (after spending all yesterday to think about it) to get the 8120.. and yes, MicroCenter really does do great with the pricing. Sort of shocked. I'll probably ask them there if there's any current deals on the 2500k, and if it'll be around the budget range I'm looking at. There are...
Thanks Pray, that gave me a little more information that I needed.. I'll talk to my friends and see what they say. I came here first to be armed with info (and to debate with you guys a bit). We can probably stop posting here, since it seems I have two options and both are good.
I'm stuck between either getting a mATX mobo (using the same case as the one I'm using) or an ATX mobo (using a much older 2000-era case). The ATX mobos I'm seeing for the i5 2500k at Micro Center goes for $100~, not including the $169 or so for the 2500k. (So around $270-$300 for everything)...
Understandably, Intel is the best bang for my buck. But since the Core i5 2500k (with a matching mobo) is a little out of my league, the 8120 is starting to look good.
Speaking of, it looks like I could possibly use the 8120 for streaming -- something I've longed to do on my i3 530, but...
As many might (or might not know), Micro Center is selling the AMD FX-8120 for cheap. Having been an Intel fan-boy for a long time and totally new to using an AMD processor.. I am in need of a new processor/mobo and some advice.
With my current system (a cheap Gateway computer -- an Intel...
Wonderful wallpaper for Debian! I use Windows 7 and Debian and I always found Debian's other wallpapers as being too colorfull, yours is nice and two-toned :)
Posting for my friend:
NVIDIA Component Overscan on a 480i SDTV, Nvidia's settings allow me to fix the overscan BUT while changing the overscan size my screen resolution also changes, because of that I cannot play any games on my TV. I'm trying for 640x480 resolution with no overscan.

My video card's fan...
One of my good friends suggested to remove the video card and do a test, we did and all four ram cards worked. Which is awkward. We've declared the board as 'faulty', and plan on getting a eVGA nForce 750i FTW from TigerDirect. But thank you for the help. (Plan on getting one my self.)
Hmm. I'm confused as to where to post this at the moment. I've tried boosting the voltage up to 1.3, I refuse to go to 1.4, there is no 'inbetween'.. Same thing happens, it starts up with 2gb, 3 it runs.. But refuses to go into Windows, with 4, it keeps rebooting before POST.
This has been driving me and my older brother insane.
He built a new system with an EVGA 730i motherboard, ordering 2 4GB-kits from Newegg; Corsair XMS2 2048 6400C5. One in each 4 slots, making up 8GB. His computer goes into a constant reboot -- not even showing the POST. But it will start...
Since these are just numbers..

2.8 to 3.0 isn't a big OC, that I know. But to me it is. Considering I -never- OC'd my Processor outside of my Pentium D 820 before I got this one. So 2.8 to 3.2 is a good OC. Atleast from my view. Its a good...
I just got my Core 2 Duo E7400 yesterday. With my friend basicly saying 'go easy with the overclocking'. So I did. I boosted it from 2.80GHz to 3.00GHz and it ran well. I then raised it to 3.20GHz all using nTune's Reference Clock (FSB). Its now sitting at 305 MHz.
I ran IntelBurnTest for about...
Thanks again guys for your speedy response. I did went to eVGA's website, but they don't REALLY talk about the 610i much. As if they're saying "yea, we make it, but we won't help you with it". Which is a put down for eVGA, as much as I love them. Anywho. Thank you again!
I bought my self a eVGA nForce 610i NF70 a few months ago -- before the same motherboard was upgraded to the NF72 version -- along with a new case. I was curious if the motherboard can run an Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Processor with no problems. I did flash the BIOS with the BIOS that eVGA gave...
I'm limited with money. (How can I afford a $200 9600GT? Reasons, namely family). The CPU is my 'big christmas' gift, as I'm just a gamer. I really don't need anything else.
I cannot trust getting a used CPU. Even if it was inspected. I prefer a new one. After reading, the E4XX series are...
Oh, I thought it did support 45nm. I'm sticking with Newegg, I'm going to get this then: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115032
But still, is it worth updating?
My friend is asking me to do some posting for him.
His problem is that over time, he will end up upgrading. His PC right now 'sucks', but he wants to squeeze out all the power he can out of his system, without frying his mobo.
He dosn't know anything right about overclocking. All he did...
As mentioned here: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1336354
I'm running an Intel Pentium D 820 with a 350w powersupply, an Intel D945GCL motherboard (capable of running up to a Core 2 Duo with 1066 MHz FSB, I might have to flash the bios though).
Now that I mentioned the Core 2...
I don't think this is the RIGHT place to put it this, but.. 'eh..
I bought a Hanspree 22 inch monitor a few months ago. Its setup next to my computer. (I mean, within a fist length of each other). I just noticed about 30 minutes ago, that any light foreground onto a black background or...
Well, I ran fraps, apparently 10-30 FPS, depending on the area. Felt faster. So, the CPU is bottlenecking everything? Kinda hard to see, since its the 'latest' Pentium 4 on dual core.
Oh, and I'm not worried about the warranty on my computer, I already voided it long time ago when I installed...
Huh, alright. I believe its 20-30 on Crysis, I can't tell, it looks fast. :p Anyways. I'll probably start looking into getting a job and start on getting a low end core 2 duo.
I've recently (I mean, recently as in yesterday) bought a PNY GeForce 9600 GT. Runs faster than my 8600 GT, but yet, on some games, it runs just as slow. On Crysis, I suspect ATLEAST 40-50 FPS, on high. But no, too much. I get about 20-30. Gears of war? 25-60 FPS. World of Warcraft is about the...
I did a quick check to see if theres a '8600 GT' for a thread of people overclocking their mini beast, sadly, I didn't find any.. So, I'll make a thread. Basicly, if you have a 8600 GT or GTS, tell us your story about how you overclocked it, what did you do, what brand video card, and the...
I see, this is the video card I'm getting (sorry I didn't provide the link) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150202
Anyways, that x1900GT looks good and is a bit cheaper, but the core / memory IS close to the XFX, but I'm trying to get the best performance with as little...
Its reaching my birthday and I've been doing some investigation on a new Video Card to run Halo 2 Vista, World of Warcraft and hopefully Sims 2: Seasons at full. I have at the moment an ATi Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB (PCI-E x16) with a 350w Powersupply. I'm running a Intel Pentium D 820 2.80 GHz...
