Everything is driven through an Onkyo RC-160 receiver. It took some time to dial in the EQ just right, but those altecs have a very movie theater-like presentation of sound (they were theater speakers...). The center is an upgraded yamaha S112iv PA speaker.
The screen is 80" diagonal. I...
I almost didn't notice the cat-
Just got a new projector screen. It's a step up from the white photo backdrop paper I was using previously. Sorry for the dark pic
I received all the parts except for the case... I connected everything and had openelec loaded all in under 30 minutes... It plays even my largest 1080p files without a hiccup. The cpu fan is a bit loud though...I've ordered a scythe mini kaze to replace the stock one.
So far I'm happy...
I had to order the parts last night so stuff would arrive in time to have it set up by christmas. I changed the case from the hec to an antec isk300.
What exactly eats up the hard drive space? This computer will stream netflix and tv/movies off the network only...
I want to build an HTPC so I can stream TV shows/movies from my computer to our home theater but I'm not sure what hardware and software I want to use. It should fit the following criteria:
-$300 budget
-Case should be horizontal and black
-Motherboard/CPU/IGP needs to handle 1080p playback...
Sorry...responded. I've been out of town for a while.
I replaced a bad capacitor on the motherboard and tested ESR on all through-hole caps...everything is good!
Nice old Heathkit gear. I wish they were still around...
I have the AA-1 audio analyzer and TC-2 tester, but I want something that will more effectively test transconductance and leakage...like a nice Hickok or something...
I wanted to share a simple way of getting the mac-like throbbing LED that works on any computer, all it takes is an electrolytic capacitor and a diode.
Place a diode between the motherboard header positive and capacitor positive terminal, with the band towards the capacitor side, then...
Altec made some fine speakers back in the day. I was poised to get three more a guy had out on craigslist so I could go 5 channel, but I wasn't fast enough. I didn't have room for them anyway :p
Legacy USB was enabled and the option to allow the device to wake the computer was greyed out.
I had it plugged into the USB 2.0 ports designated for the mouse and keyboard but I tried moving to different ports (the ones next to the PS/2 connector) and now it works. Strange.
I recently upgraded so I no longer need these parts...

I put together a new computer with an Asus P8Z77-V Pro and I'm having trouble figuring out how to set it up to wake from sleep using my usb keyboard (G15 gen 1). Currently I must use the power switch on my computer, which isn't a big deal but it's not as convenient.
Any ideas?
Hi all, hopefully you guys can help me out with an issue:
I have a P8Z77-V Pro with the latest bios (ver 2003) and I'm having trouble getting it to wake from sleep using my keyboard. Is there a configuration option I'm just not seeing?
I have a G15 (1st gen) plugged into the usb2.0 ports on...
The builds I'm seeing on this thread look amazing.
I recently upgraded my mobo/cpu/ram and hdd. My current specs are

Intel i5-3570K ES
Asus P8Z77-V Pro

Are there currently any budget-minded keyboards (under $75) that have a built in USB3.0 hub? The only one I've found is the gigabyte osmium but it's a little more than I want to spend.
I bought an LGA 1155 pro-mount from D-Tek so I could use my old fuzion block with my new 3570k upgrade. The problem is, there are threaded barrels on the backplate that are supposed to pass through the cpu cooler mounting holes, and they don't fit in the holes on my motherboard. I had some...
I want to build an HTPC that will play my 1080p .mkv's off my networked drives without exceeding my budget of $300. What are some motherboard/cpu's I should consider?
I'm putting together a new computer with an i5-3570K and an Asus P8Z77-V Pro. I've narrowed my choice of memory down to two models:

Both are identical...
