    Q6600 for BF3?

If you were lucky you could get a G0 up to 3.4ghz+ on air IIRC, some to 3.6ghz. 3.0ghz was all but certain so yeah im sure it would be a decent upgrade from an E8400 in BF3 since it once of the few games that will use extra cores.

    Weird GPU Overclocking Issue

Just had this issue a few days ago. For me it had to do with the changing of clock speeds...its not really artifacting. Assuming youre using MSI Afterburner...when you enabled OCing in the config you typed in a "1". Typing in a "2" will disable something...cant remember what...i think it was a...

is 90c too hot while running prime95

You are wrong, plain and simple. I can spout most of the same shit back to you in an opposing fashion...nothing you said makes you right, nor me wrong. Ive used both as well. They dont produce a difference of 2 degrees. Fluctuations between cores are frequently more than 5 degrees. But you...

It is completely besides the point. You might as well argue that you should be able to do video encoding while you play games.

is 90c too hot while running prime95

It is outdated, whether youd like to accept that or not is up to you. Its old. There are better stress testers like linpack now. That doesnt mean it doesnt support newer processors with AVX. If you want to misconstrue what i said, then by all means...be wrong. I can make my system P95 stable for...

Bioshock Infinite Steam code - $15.99 @ Newegg

Mmmm thats quite a stretch. The first 90% of the game was mindless running around and shooting, either chasing elizabeth or having her hide and find ammo while you battle the same 3 or 4 enemies over and over. Ill admit I was curious to find out what was going on though. Replace the same...

is 90c too hot while running prime95

Oh boy, nice try but im not wrong. Point to where i said Prime95 didnt support AVX. IBT with AVX tortures a CPU way more than P95, i literally downloaded the new version of P95 and tested right before i made the initial post, then ran IBTv2 with AVX. Stop trying to call people out for no reason...

Never played planetside 2 so im not going to comment on that. Though 5gb of usage hardly seems to warrant 16gb total.

    6GB vs 8GB gaming

Just opened 10 browsers, mem usage went up from 2.3gb to 2.4gb. Would still run BF3 just fine while not breaking 4gb. Wanna try again? On top of that i opened, word, excel, powerpoint, windows media player, catalyst control center. Have steam, origin, msi afterburner running. 3.1gb at desktop...

is 90c too hot while running prime95

The intel HSF are notoriously shitty for being difficult to mount. Easiest way to tell is to look at the back side of the motherboard and see that all the little black pegs have popped through all the way. Your motherboard will be bowed slightly if its installed correctly, they suck that much...

    6GB vs 8GB gaming

Memory usage is 2.5gb sitting at desktop. Memory usage running BF3 crept up to 3.8gb. You were running a fuckton of unnecessary shit, had a virus, tons of spyware, etc...or its placebo. Its ok, i wasted almost 100 bucks on more ram too.

Bioshock Infinite Steam code - $15.99 @ Newegg

I grabbed this for the same price with the GMG deal. I was thoroughly unimpressed by this game and think it fell way short of the hype. Its short...steam logged at 7 hours. Its repetitive, alot of the same exact crap from the same enemies over and over. The story and characters were the only...

is 90c too hot while running prime95

That is too hot for Prime95 for that CPU IMHO. Prime95 is also outdated and not a good indicator of stability for the newer CPUs with AVX and AVX2 instruction sets. You need to use the latest version of IBT. On my 2500k at my clocks/voltage/cooling ill get low-mid 70's in P95, and near 90's with...

First WC loop design, check me to make sure I don't derp?

Ok and once it hits equilibrium you wont dissipate heat any faster...still a wash. Whether you want to talk about approaching equilibrium or at equilibrium, the boundary layer increasing heat transfer works both ways. *and by faster we should really be saying more efficiently transferring heat.

First WC loop design, check me to make sure I don't derp?

This is a fairly common misconception. It holds true to a point, but past that increasing fluid flow rates will have little to no impact and will have diminishing returns. The smaller boundary layer increases heat conduction to dissipate heat faster, but its counteracted by the ability to pick...

First WC loop design, check me to make sure I don't derp?

I misread one of your posts...i thought you were going to have 120x480mm total for 2 gpus and the cpu. If youve got a 120x240mm for the CPU, and a 120x360mm for both GPUs i think youll achieve what your looking for with a pretty quiet setup. BF3 heats up my 5.0ghz 2500k to mid 60's and my 6950...

First WC loop design, check me to make sure I don't derp?

Scythe GTs are genereally regarded as the quietest for the CFM is all. Loop order doesnt matter other than pump drawing from reservoir...literally nothing else about the loop order matters as far as cooling so do whatever makes the most sense in your case. My radiator suggestion is 120x240mm...

D5 varios for pumps...consider the XSPC D5 resevoir/pump top combo for each. It will remove the need for a reservoir and extra fittings and tubing. Id say get one for each since you dont want to cheap out. For excellent cooling and overclockability, id suggest 120x240mm rads per high end...

    E8600 > Q9650?

Happily moved from a 4.2ghz Q9650 to a 5.0ghz 2500k the day they were released. Only regret is not getting a 2600k that day. Way faster, but it sort of falls under "a much newer, higher clocked CPU is much faster? no shit!" But to answer your question...if you can put out less than 50...

    Mosfet cooling suggestions

Thermal tape holds just fine but whatever youre sticking it to needs to be 100% clean. If your worried about them falling off, remove the thermal tape, add any TIM and put a dab of super glue in 2 opposing corners, push down hard. It will dry fast and be on there very solid, and if you want to...

2500k locks up when doing ... nothing

Had the same problem, ended up being the motherboard which was a Gigabyte UD4 P67. Cant remember if i tested with stock settings or not, only with high OC on 2500k. Microcenter let me exchange it for an Asus Z77 which now works great and the cpu is happily humming along at 5.0ghz.

    [Q] Radiator Size Discussion

Push/pull is rather redundant and seals are extraneous. Also a 3770 at 4.9 is going to push into the 80's even with good water cooling at full load. Gaming wont push it higher than 50's or into the 60's in a CPU intensive game.
