Hello,
About to place an order for memory for my laptop..
Newegg have a lot of options to choose from, and I found there are two slightly different memory spec...
Are they any great advantage to get the 5400 over 5300?
By the way, my laptop is Lenovo T61p (if any further spec is...
It's Customized T61p although Lenovo estimate page didn't indicate on following URL.

That's exact spec I got.
Went back to Lenovo site, and estimate how fast they cut off from the price tag I bought..

There will be TAX, plus fraction of environmental recycling fee (only for CA residence), that makes total extra approx. 120.00 USD...
I'd been in dilemma when I was ordering my laptop with exact CPU option between 2.4 Ghz vs. 2.5Ghz. Except L2 cache (3MB vs. 6MB), I believe they are identical.
FPS won't boost because that, IMHO, or correct me.
Plus, what Vista really like is RAM. Get 4GB (2 sticks) and install 64 bit OS...
I'm waiting my T61p right now, and I am positive Lenovo won't ruin IBM's reputation IMHO.
Before I ordered the laptop, I stopped by Local Frys' and loved the 13" Fusitsu Lifebook in terms of design and built quality.
Since you are not looking for any serious power, (and use it for 6 moths on...
I am in market for the bag myself at this moment so here I am sharing some.
Absolutely agree to Shaggy3zx idea to have backpack for long travel, and I have one from ogio..

But this time, I am leaning towards slim and shoulder carrying style and...
More you try, cleaner you get.
Indeed, there is Japanese saying goes alike this;
"Third house you built would be perfect one."
This is my 3rd time (maybe 4th) I cleaned up wires, and I noticed I can managed some stuff quite easy.

(2) rear view
Make sure to make all cutting...
@ Dachink,
Trust me, once you get 4GB, immediately you want MORE... :)
@ w1retap,
Thanks for suggestion. It might be one of ideas I'll work on near future but so far I have 'a kinda' theme going on... Here is the link for my work area setup @ home. You may notice, I use lot portion of raw...

I pull this from the post I started. One of members shared these pictures, and it shows how s/he did it.
Hope this help.

Forgot the model name, but it is skyhawk brand that I got several years ago.
Here is the link I posted recent cleanup work, and followings are a couple shot of side panel that I was planning to install fans.
Since I tend to keep things as simple as possible, I'd love to get one larger fan...
Love to see your great work...
Indeed, I was thinking of getting one of 250mm side panel fan, and I have to hold up since most of my cutting was done by "handheld" dremel, which I don't think it'll get any satisfying result at the end.
I'll keep watching your progress...

Hello all~
Here is my main rig. Check the SIG for specs.
It's been updated from post # 5432, if anyone got curious. It's Aluminium case has been survived for many years, and I finally started cutting some off~
Followings are what I've done so far:
(1) installed HDD holder. ("iCage")

510Mhz~! Sweet...
By the way, thanks for confirm your memory chip... I made a similar route. I made misguided promo corsair, but now I got them replaced by Crucial... They are darn good...
I use Web Cam Live, and it has 640x480 res for video, and use it for skype with my GF.
The webcam on bargain has way low res for both photo and video, so I'd rather not jump onto unless you will be alright with blurry image while you are on skype with your friend and family.
I'd recommend...

After instal it, I'll post some pics..
Should get a fan with 3 pins for RPM reading... and NB cooler. Reading and adjusting "Warning" message from factory S/W due to lack of RPM sensor... :(
I guess I am going to take off whole thing first and try custom NB cooling first..
DFI Infinity p985-s doesn't even have any HS on MOSFET, and wasn't sure if they didn't put any on purpose..
Abit AB9 quad gt's MOSFET HS is getting hot, and NB part is hotter (can't hold finger touched more...
@calebb,
Excellent~
Extra read was very informative as well... Thanks so much~
I had to wait till my internet service get back on... it was affected through both South and North CA AT&T users...
Scary summer is coming... ;)
Hi,
Recently I purchased AB9 quad GT, and very satisfied with it.
Since I am leaning to slight OC, I need to cool the system down as necessary, and start from NB.
Yesterday, with help from another forum, I found this NB cooler, and think of getting it soon.
The question is, 'should I take...
@calebb,
Currently, I am looking for solution for my NB cooling... I have Thermallight Ultra 120 Extreme installed, and since it huge size, hard to find suitable NB cooler... Can you show me some another angle shots of your 'spot cooler' (I guess it is right name..) and how does it to cool...
I have counted both 20-to-24 pin and 4-to-8 pin issues while I was upgrading my setup recently.
A certain motherboard manufacture allow user to use 4-pin on 8-pin connector on mobo, but there is exception too. I'd rather contact the company tech line to double check since they should be the...
Link please... I gotta read it.. I just got my silencer, and I love it (it will be organized for sure~). Since it didn't come with modular cables, it will take considerable amount of time to place (=hide) them well.
missed your question... It was just done by hand.. Since SATA cable tends to bend easy and stay the way it has been bent. You can hide them, but I found myself this way was more fun~
@CptFalcon,
It is Skyhawk Eagle case. I got this in 2002 when I built my first rig.
Couldn't locate black one, but the following is identical 'silver' case.
Light and sturdy enough to save my wallet~

However, with my experience, I recommend to set "Newegg" in the middle, and go for zipzoomfly, mwave (they're pretty good), and tigerDirect (Vid card heaven for me..)...
Hello,
I recently upgraded rig on both H/W and S/W, including OS (x64 Windows XP Pro).
Then I realized my printer and scanner were lack of getting support for x64 drivers, I managed to assemble another rig with x86 (32-bit) Windows XP Pro to use the printer and the scanner.
Yesterday, all...
I was looking for Corsair 620 as well, but switched to Silencer.
Just got it yesterday, and it is "silent" juciy operator~
Second on the product if you can leave with bit of cleaning wires that are not use...
Recently I bought Abit board from Newegg.com, and a week later found the price dropped. Immediately contact to customer service and explain (nicely~). Guess what? I got the price match deal. They returned the difference amount back to my bank account... Try it.. Nothing to lose...
agree that... certain point I dropped the voltage to 1.9 which was the factory setting on DFI mobo, and it was most stable stage. Talked to Corsair tech even, and he suggested to up volt to as it was advertised (v2.1)... OC is really alike art... you never see the end.. ;)
May be it is me, but I got 4 sticks (4 x 1GB) of Corsair Promos... and trying OC over 2 mobos (DFi p965-s / Abit ab9 quad GT) in big disappointment... Even with 2 sticks (which was slightly less problematic), stock timing (4-4-4-12 @ v2.1) wasn't stable... Haven't used Micron D9xxx RAM yet...
