Interesting thought. I haven't found anywhere that says it matters. My one win10 PC is likely a legacy BIOS but I'm not sure. I haven't tried to fix it either. I did run across one posting that claims enabling TPM fixed their machine.
This was timely as I was considering if I should finally get the latest xbox. I don't play games much these days and still hoping for a game that is compelling enough to spend the time and money on. Guess I can wait a few more months.
Does this mean the chances of getting a truly great new game is even lower than ever? I'm way out of the target demographic, but if something compelling came out I would get a new console or PC tomorrow.
On my oldest UPS I reused the plastic harness 3 maybe 4 times before I spent the money on a full new battery pack. It's well over ten years old now and I wouldn't use it on anything critical just because of aging. It's used on an embroidery machine. Besides being a motor, the machine uses the...
The company I am at these days happens to have made RTO pretty easy. Yesterday I experienced driving to work with everybody back from vacation and kids going to school. That was not fun so I really appreciate the flexibility they still allow. Really a pretty good place to work overall. Maybe I...
I have had a couple strange things with LEDs. A ceiling fan light didn't work with all LED bulbs, and others only had half the LED elements light up. I did eventually find something that worked great with the ceiling fan, but it was a hassle for sure. Then I a have a room with 5 fixtures on the...
Wow. Really disappointed the transformer was terminated to the wire this way. How much did they save by soldering instead of a proper mechanical connection? Did they just not know any better? Either way it should never have been done.
Do you want the old player to connect to the TV? Does the TV have another input compatible with the player? How does the new cable service change things for you?
Maybe overheated then cooled down, or intermittent connection. Jiggle and pull the cables, move the speakers and sub around, firmly tap on them. Turns the adjust pots min to max, whatever else you can think of to recreate the problem. If it is a faulty connection it should be easy to fix once found.
Conicidentally I have that exact mini PC. I just installed the latest AMD drivers and the power plan doesn't give expected results. You might think the performance plan would give the best performance. The balanced plan seemed to work best. According to the AMD performance monitor it reached...
I looked at a couple 1u chassis built with this and it looked to me the fan faces the front toward the user. This would explain why the the PSU fan is reverse from what you expected. Should you flip it depends on your specific build.
Thanks for posting the picture. I wondered what made you think about sparks. The pointy surfaces are not going to accumulate significant charge in this scenario, but good thinking here.
So I had a minute to swing by again, The conductive inks might be the best way if done with a lot care. These look like controlled impedance traces. Even though short, not handling them properly can be an issue. It may go from not working at all to needing underclocking for solid operation. With...
The pen video is one example of many. Masking with kapton tape is just a suggestion to help keep the ink only where you want it. The lead pencil will likely not work for what you have, but I don't know what the trace is for. If it's a memory high speed trace it's possible none of the suggestions...
Here's where I usually get a little disappointed with Linux. I occasionally get my hands on very much older computers and Windows is not a great option for them any longer so I try to put Linux on them. Seems like there is always some hardware that just doesn't work quite right or not at all...
I just bought the non-BT version last week before seeing this. For $49 I would have gone with BT. The discussion here makes me feel like I made a good choice. They do sound really good.
The IS621 is the controller. Use this search, "innostor is621" reference design, or something like it. Finding the schematic, or getting a replacement IS621 for the board is not likely to happen. I did find a site that looks like it has a data sheet, but wanted an account set up. It's not likely...
Sometimes. I have experienced where modules failed in real applications and passed memtest. For something critical it's good to pass several different tests. For my own stuff, not so much.
First cell was one of the classic Nokia, then a flip phone. I don't remember all the models, but my first actual "smart" phone was a Samsung windows phone. When it needed replacing I tried android but still needed it to be windows so I went back to HTC windows then Lumia 950. Stayed with that...
My latest attempt at cleaning up a PC well passed due date. It's not spotless, but at least I'm not afraid of catching a disease from it now.
The case is a tank, which I found out after dropping it on my foot. The case is fine, but my foot had some nice swelling and bruising.
I am most proud of...
Funny variety of opinions here. VR are meetings are slowly getting better, but I'm not sure when I will actually be ready for them. I like to turn off my camera and stay muted so nobody knows I am snoring. At 63 I still enjoy tech, but more than ever wonder what the heck are they thinking.
Only single player. This year I played Borderlands, Doom, Plague tale of innocence, Watchdogs, Outerworlds, Gear5, Assassin Creed V, FC6. I get a lot out of working through the story, stealth play style, and solving puzzles. I only do xbox and don't enjoy overly complicated controller sequences...
