Hey all,
I recently bought newer RAM for my main rig and thought I'd put my older memory in my backup computer.
Currently the backup is running 2gb (1gb x 2) of ddr2 667 on Windows Vista home premium 32 bit. Would adding an additional 2gb (1gb x 2) of ddr2 800 cause any potential issues...
Ya, I just noticed this new fhd2401 on BB's Website as well.
Looks like the response time on this new model is 2ms instead of 3ms on the fhd2400, as well as the contrast ration being 2000:1 as compared to 1000:1.
The stand does appear to be cheaper as well, but I'd be interested to see how...
I just picked one of these up yesterday from BB.
I've usually only purchased IPS panels such as dell's 2007wfp ultrasharp, which I really liked, I just needed more screen real estate.
That being said, the reviews on this monitor are good..but people have reported issues such as backlight...
Great Review!
I ordered this board 2 days ago and it's arriving this evening as the final piece of my new system I'm putting together. All components are listed in my sig.
I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations on passive coolers for the southbridge, as I plan to overclock my e6600...
My machine I built for my girlfriend has an xfx 8600gts xxx inside and I'm pretty satisfied with the results. Reviews are helpful and full of information, but all in all with real world experience, this thing has handled WoW on max settings at 1680x1050, Supreme Commander at medium/medium high...
My girlfriends 8600 gts also suffered this issue, and I read about it extensively here and on Nvidias forums. I suggest you head over there and look around for various workarounds people have tried. For me, underclocking my 8600gts to 650/1050 with Ntune did the trick and I have since not seen...
awesome! I can't wait for more p35 boards to appear :)
Was going to pull the trigger on a 650i board today, but now I want to see if more p35 boards are released in the next week
Hello all, I'm putting together the final pieces of a longed planned system and was looking for some reccomendations on a solid motherboard.
I am looking at a fairly simplistic gaming machine with many features not being needed. I don't ever plan on using SLI, or using RAID. That being said...
same old story on my xfx 8600gts with 158.18
Still getting the TDR error, The display driver has stopped responding and has restarted.
My screen flashes black and/or games lockup, and I have to wait for the error to work its course before I can get back to enjoing my games.
I'm just...
I recently got an E520 for my girlfriend since it was so cheap, and I was saddened to see 8800's wouldnt fit. So I got her an 8600gts and its great for what she needs, but I must say...amazing job!
I'm having a similar problem in Vista home premium with 158.18 drivers. My XFX 8600gts xxx is locking up every few mins in WoW and the screen flashes back. Windows Vista is also reporting a driver issue and gives me this tidbit
'LiveKernelEvent' and has the following extra information...
well I see that most 8600gts cards reccomend a 350watt PSU, so that's why I asked. But in many reviews of the 8600's I'd see that total system power consumption was at 250-280 under load, and that was with more internal devices, whereas my system is fairly minimal.
I'm considering heading out...
Hey everyone, I have a dell e520 and just last night dropped in an XFX 8600gts xxx. The video driver fails every so often in games.
The machine runs Aero just fine and works with WoW perfectly (frames will be at 60fps with details maxed at 1680x1050) except for the occasional video driver...
Thanks for post!
I've been waiting for 2 months for this price drop, and it's the final piece in my new setup that I'm putting together as soon as it arrives.
Goodbye 3.2ghz Pentium 4 prescott, hello Core 2 duo!!!! :D
WoW scales quite well on lower end hardware. I have Wow installed on a machine similar to this with a radeon 9000 128mb. 512mb ram, at 1280x1024 and it runs pretty well, in the 30-50fps range.
Of course to do this I had to cut back on some of the graphics such as turning terrain distance and...
Totally how I feel Tek, worded just right. I really do feel April is a great time for people to spend $800-$1500 on a new system that will give great performance and have a solid upgrade path.
I agree that PCI express 2.0 is just futureproofing, and from all I've read and heard...PCI express...
The later revisions of Bearlake coming in Q3 of 2007 will have 2x PCI Express 2.0 slots and will support only DDR3 ram. The earlier bearlake models will have support for DDR2 and DDR3, but run on the traditional current form of PCI Express.
As a note, PCI Express 2.0 is backwards compatible...
Have you tried using that Radeon in another mobo?
Maybe the motherboard is 4x agp while the card is 8x agp?
Maybe make sure the BIOS on the board is newest?
Right, the 680i boards will be compatible with the core 2 refresh with 1333mhz FSB in Q3 of this year, but it's not clear whether the 45nm chips due in 2008 will work in these boards.
However these chips will work with intels upcoming bearlake chipset, which is the only thing I'm holding out...
I'm in the exact same position as the OP and I think the time to upgrade is April for sure.
I'm still sitting on my P4 3.2ghz and 6800GT agp system, and it's been a great workhorse up until this year. Now that new games are on the horizon, the time to pony up has come!
Personally I think I will...
