Call your area's recycling depot or scrap yards, copper is valuable these days and alot of people ( even thieves lol ) sell them to these places.... Ive been playing with alot of copper these days for my lil projects and I get them from a local recyclers for cheap...
Whats the fpo/batch of your E6700? I have an E6600 that did 4ghz Orthos stable on cold air ( using Ultra 120 ), Im looking for a high fsb E6700.... What exactly do you want to run at 4ghz? On regular ambient My e6600 can do spi 32M and 3dmark benches all day....
Look in the Intel...
Im selling my E6600 ( L632B172 ) to somebody @ XS but if it doesnt go through Ill let you know.... Im watercooled too and 4ghz is no problem, recently ran spi 32M at 4100mhz, played UT2004 @ 4ghz.... And ofcourse 4ghz Orthos on air when the weather was colder back in feb ( see database )...
More voltage always helps but I think the gains achived is not worth the risk cos 2.3v 24/7 is like giving your rams cancer.... might die now, certainly within a few months and lucky if they live a year.....
These D9's dont like loose timings, most I will loosen up to is 5-5-5-15..... 24/7...
I just want to let people know that right now the P35 motherboards are way ahead of the C2D that max overclock will depend on the CPU and not the motherboard..... I think all these mobos will do 600fsb, the question is, can your cpu?
I got the IP35 as well and this thing is just too easy...
I didnt read the whole thread but from my experience, the HR05 is not a good idea for this board....Since it doesnt have mounting holes for the NB, youll have to use the clips supplied by Thermalright and it just doesnt have enough tension to make it work effectively.... After a week, I ended...
Too late... Its on now bitch..... Im not one who like to show off but you left me no choice.... Here it is, luihed special one of a kind ram.... Kingston value ram with ballistix SPD and OCZ crossfire timings and subs..... All settings done in bios, no Memset or any window base software to...
Dont know much about that board but..... always flash from good old floppy..... doesnt matter what everyone says, its a $5 drive that will save a alot of potential headache.... Also before flashing, clear cmos, up your vdimm to 2.2v, doesnt matter how high those sticks will go or what theyre...
Wow... too bad we canadians cant buy from them but the prices are dropping here as welll... just ordered 2gs of pc5300 for $100 and I think Ill grab another set tommorrow:D ... Had fun with my Firestix pc 8000 but I have to go back to the ballistix
In a way I agree with what you said about low end cpus overclocking the same as the more expensive ones but the X6800 should generally reach a higher overclock than any other C2D.... The reason theyre getting about the same speed is because its easier to beat up a cpu that cost you $300 than...
I disagree....
I think buying a Q6600 is like buying a BMW M5, fast and seats 4 people.. Buying E6850 is like buying a Ferari, it only seats 2 but will blow the M5 in a race.....
But I do agree that if youre not really into overclocking then there's no reason to choose the E6850...
Im not sure about the Q6600 ( 1066fsb ) but the upcoming Q6850 ( 1333fsb ) has a new stepping ( G0 ) and it runs very cool from the few that Ive seen..... If the E6850 shares the same stepping as its quadcore counterpart then its going to be a monster overclocker..... Ive seen a few Q6850 run...
Firestix= D9GKX
Ballistix=D9GMH
D9GKX are more expensive ICs hence rams that uses them are more expensive... They clock high at lower voltage but ( they say ) dont scale well with voltage like the GMH..... As a rough guide, the GKX will clock better till around 2.4v, theyll be even to...
All out clocking using 2.6v+, Ballistix should win but for 24/7 you have to go with the Firestix..... Havent tested my Ballistix yet but this is what my Firestix can do at 2.25v.... Im sure it still has alot of room to go higher and maybe even lower voltage but Ive been testing at 3600mhz...
I believe that pc2 5300 overclocks just as well as its pc2 6400 counterpart so I think these will overclock just as well as anything rams out there thats not D9s..... If youre going to run them `1:1, it should keep up with your mobo/cpu unless maybe if you have a very high clocking...
Wankerfx, Do you mind testing each stick, nothing too comprehensive just a quickie test so we have an idea what Promos ic are all about.... I believe these are the same ic found in the other sticks you reviewed and the results are so different.... Dont know when you got these but NCIX had...
Ive played with OCZ XTC Platinum PC6400 and Kingston Value rams pc5300 and both of them did 540+fsb.... Im sure those reapers have better IC than the ones I played with thats whay Im thinking one of his sticks is a bad clocker....

No offence but I dont think you gave those rams a fair review.... There is no way those rams topped out where they did, did you check each ram if you had a bad stick? ....

Socal, I wasnt arguing with you and I didnt even see your post before i posted just to make it clear.... The results I posted are my findings and its there to give info and that it, I didnt post it to prove a point.... Also those data were from experience running that benchmark, I didnt do...
The only divider the P965 has trouble with is 4:5 and that doesnt take affect till around 420fsb..... The P35 has that covered but you still need rams that will do high frequency to take advantage of it..... The question still remains the same, is putting your hardware to that kind of stress...
First off, in real life apps, any configuration wont make any noticable difference, 24/7 I run low fsb 1:1 even if my rams are rated at ddr1066....
Now for benchmark performance you can compare them like this.... all results from super pi...
400fsb (1:1) vs 514fsb ( 1333strap) = 514fsb is...
A fsb wall means your cpu will not go over a certain fsb regardless of multiplier used..... My cpu has a fsb wall at around 555fsb, at first I thought it was my motherboards limit till I put my friends E6300 and his cpu reach 566fsb ..... Doesnt matter if I use 8x, 7x or 6x , I cant get over...
I totally agree.... I have a set of Ballistix 8500 and a set of Firestix 8000 coming and the Firestix has to be something very special for me to keep them instead of the ballistix..... OCZ is way up there too.....
I might as well mention the Asus is at the very bottom of the list when it...
It is a fact that running higher bandwidth gives better performance than running 1:1, but I also agree that the difference will not be noticable..... I dont think most of everything we buy gives noticable difference anyways cept maybe video cards for gaming......
For most consumer, an...
Its hard to predict the maximum safe voltage on any cpu cos no ones really tested cpu in this matter.... Itll take years to get the results and by that time nobody really cares about the lifespan of a 5 year old cpu...... Everybody has thier own opinion on whats a safe max voltage, but the...
Depends on what your going to use it for....
D9GKX is the highest binned IC and also the most expensive.... It has the capability to reach high fsb at lower voltage... best for 24/7 overclock...
D9GMH is the more common of the two... needs more voltage than GKX in general but it reacts...
Your expectation is kinda high considering only 1 watercooled C2D has a higher overclock than mine in the database and Im running air.... Marvins clock at 4gs was proven to be fake BTW so on air nobody was even close, even the X6800s :D
If you want stability, this was my Orthos run on air using a Thermalright Ultra 120....:D
E6300 on water... could have gone higher but its my buddy's cpu so I didnt wanna stress it too much...
Funniest thing Ive heard in a while.... I think Im gonna put this quote in my sig at XS if you dont mind n00b.....
I dont know why youre even in this conversation when its obvious you have no clue at the subject... If you think getting a screenshot at 5gs is easy then go ahead and try it...
$430 for a set of sticks that wont be able to keep up with stix half its price doesnt make too much sense to me..... I guess they can charge that much cos people do buy them.... I dont think I can spend $6k on a gaiming rig, Ill run out of things to buy....
Alot of people dont know how hard it is to kill a C2D, I dont think I can fry my cpu if I tried, same goes for the motherboards but rams is a different story..... I would never overclock that high if I think theres a 1 percent chance of me killing my cpu, I work hard for my money and I aint...
