Great news - We're in business, definately!
Download the Creative Console Launcher (from their site) and check the "Enable Bass Redirection" box in the speaker tab - thats it!
Hope it works for you also.
Take care.
I just put my X-Fi Plantinum Pro into a Denon AV receiver for surround sound.
In the speaker setup I can hear output to ALL speakers including the SW. Then when I play any music file it only uses the Front stereo and centre speakers!
What is VERY interesting is that on playing a MS...
I just got my new machine and clean installed Windows 7 RC - its so damn fast! Power to login time about 7 seconds. On password entering about 2 seconds to load the rest. The is incredible!!!
I was sent a pdf from Dell with the specs. I can email it to you if you'd lke.
The 128GB drive is a Samsung PB22-J MC SSD SATA 3Gb/s,
Host Transfer Rate 300MB/sec,
Maximum Sequential Read Rate 220MB/s,
Maximum Sequential Write Rate 200MB/s.
SMART Support, 1,000,000 hours MTBF.
From Dell 500GB 5400 rpm drive to:
-> Dell 128GB SSD costs €220 (includes VAT) extra
-> Dell 256GB SSD costs €350 (includes VAT) extra
To throw away the cheapest 500GB 5400rpm and buy a Vertex 128GB would cost ~ €400 (with VAT and delivery)
so thats €220 vs €400...
Thanks guys.
Dell SSD - sales won't tell me which make or drive performance, although other guy on YouTube says his is:
Interface SATA 3.0Gb/s
Host Transfer Rate 300MB/sec
Maximum Sequential Read Rate 220MB/s
Maximum Sequential Write Rate 200MB/s
...which looks fairly decent
I'll be getting my first SSD in my new Dell Studio XPS 16 in the next day or two.
Do I get a similar performance gains by partitioning SSDs as conventional platter drives?
Are there any other housekeeping recommendations for SSDs? I hear defrag degrades them, Window 7 (RC) has some new SSDs...
Hello all,
Finding the above information is a nightmare. I was going for the Studio XPS 16 with 128GB SSD, but I'd like to know the read/write speeds before I get it. Sales reps are clueless.
Guys on Dell Forums say that they use different manufacturers and so values are different, but...
Thanks guys - I should have pounced on that 120 offer/error!
The best option probably is to go with 4GB, and upgrade in a few years when prices collapse.
A SSD will probably increase performance a lot more than additional 4GB asleep in the case. I like the look and price of the OCZ Vertex...
Hi all,
I was thinking of getting a Dell XPS 16 laptop, and would like 8GB DDR 3 RAM.
While I was browsing last Sunday lunchtime, it cost 120 to upgrade 4GB to 8GB - bargain!
Then 3 hours later, there was no upgrade option at all.
Then 1 day later, there was a 6GB upgrade, +500 and an...
Hi all,
I was wondering which backup device I should get for my boss. It is a very small business, and the database should never go above 2GB (currently much smaller).
I need it to be portable, encrypted, and to cost < €200.
I was thinking of the Iomega eGo Encrypt or the Iron Key...
Thanks Ray and everyone else for the help.
BTW the office was not computerised before this, so this is a new venture for the business. There are only 4 clients and 1 shared network laser for now, and it won't get any bigger (fairly certain of that!)
Anway this is what is going on:
I...
Thanks for that. So I can't really just connect all the LANs and use the Workgroup?
Does this mean I'll have to use dynamic IPs / domain based network?
This DHCP server is setup in "Manage Your Server"? (Windows Server 2008)
This is all new for me - well at least know to call the Black...
Hi all,
I am having trouble with a small 4 client, 1 server, and 1 network printer network I am trying to (half) setup for the boss. They are all connected to a Dell Powerconnect 2708 router.
The problem is all the PCs display a limited or no connectivity icon in the system tray after...
Hi all,
Just got my Gigabyte Radeon 4850 1GB, to replace my busted 8800GTX, but the fan on this is LOUD. It is a Zalman cooler, apparently at fixed speed.
Is there any way to slow it down? I have a fan controller (Scythe) and was wondering if it would be safe to use this control fan speed...
Thanks all for yer advice.
The artifact does occur during POST, so it isn't a Windows driver issue.
I got the 8800 when it was just out (I think I paid 450 for it!), so it is well out of warranty - oh dear.
Oh well, these things happen. Just need to buy a new card then.
Hi all,
My graphics seem to have suddenly failed - The screen displays only 4 colours and has minimal resolution (640x480 I think)
There are also regular patterns of dots about the entire screen.
I can still see Windows and operate the machine, but I think the video card might be damaged. I...
I tried 64 bit Vista back in February, but went back to 32 bit XP - Mostly because some of my music keyboards did not have drivers. (M-Audio STILL have not produced them)
Vista (64) was also slower all round - just doing the basics - opening start menus etc. It may have improved with the SP...
...Stop wasting time on cartoon spin offs as a response to team fortress, and irrelevant building jumping games for the childrens Christmas market. We need the next generation of battlefield!
COD4 came out recently and COD5 is nearly upon us already. BF2 is out 3 years!

...Maybe I didn't give it enough chance, but I find the multiplayer terrible - it's so arcady - you die every 20 seconds. I was impressed with the single player game - very nice.
I still have not come across a game better than Battlefield 2 - all of these have disappointed: COD4, Assassins...
I have a not so old Asus P5B-V motherboard.
As usual, with all PCs I've ever had or seen it takes a huge amount of time to POST and get started on loading the OS. Why is this? I could be wrong but powering up Macs, Playstations, Wiis, etc all take much shorter time.
I don't want to do...
I'd agree totally with Phide - He needs a pair of "monitors" - stereo speakers that play the sound the way it is without any glorification.
It depends on how serious he is about making music really. If he serious and always looking for perfection and big into mastering/publishing his music then...
Very selective and heavily edited. Not exactly scientific or impartial is it?
How many people in the experiment said - "Hey thats Vista, not a new OS"? - not one- Apparently these were the most critical Vista people - these people were clueless about anything computer related. I was...
Hello all,
Looking for recommendations. No overclocking for my single 8800GTX. Idle 79oC, Load 88oC. That thermalright with fan looks monstrous. I like lower noise levels.
Which would suit me better?
Thanks yawl.
Hello all,
What am I missing out with Vista?
I installed it last February but abandoned after about 5 weeks, mainly due to hardware/driver problems. On reinstall of XP, I found XP to be lightning fast vs Vista (Superfetch had settled down).
Has all this reversed with the SP1?
Should I...
I know the experts on this forum will evolve me into the enlightened air cooling one in 1-2 replies for my novice questions.
Q1. What is the difference between Core1/Core2 temperatures and the CPU temperature? Q2. Are there pins for connecting these thermal probes to, say, a fan controller...
Make sure your case is wide enough - this thing is huge!
BTW you can get away without a fan altogether, but you woun't have the pleasing and impressive 30oC temps (but still very safe values)
You have to take out the entire motherboard to install this - a lit problem, nothing major.
Enjoy.

Hi all, any advice for controlling my fans? I upgraded because my system was too noisy with the stock fan on my E6600. MB Asus P5B-V.
Unfortunately the stock fan had a 4 pin connector which has a PWM control of fan speed. The new Scythe fan on the Thermalright XP120 Extreme (monstrous BTW)...
Why are you upgrading?
I went from XP 32 to Vista 64 about 5 months ago, but there was absolutely no advantage.
Mostly I tried it because it was the latest, I wanted to unlock my 4GB RAM, and it looked cool.
Problem List:
The upgrade cost about 250
Major problems with drivers for...
I do believe that BF3 for PC will be 1 year after Battlefield Bad Company for Toy Consoles is released (which has just gone by)
There is also the Cartoonish Battlefield Heroes free game (charges for in-game upgrades) - looks like an interesting experiment is gaming economics. This is due at...
