I don't see it as a problem. Make sure the same style sticks are in the same channel.

4x8gb gets my vote now or if funds are tight 2x8gb now and down the road you can add two more. I wish I had went that direction.

I like the Nexus fans if you want quite. They are fairly cheap too although you said that doesn't matter.

I tend to like Nexus case fans for quite ones but I've heard the Noctua are good. I'm not running them now cause I found some 140mm Thermaltakes cheap cheap and I needed so many. The Thermaltakes have held up but they are not the most quite.

I'd just back it down some till it's stable. Mine does 4.5 and I don't remember messing with the volts. I'd have to check and see what my settings were.

I've had trouble using my optical mouse on white paper too. Never thought to try more than one sheet though.

I've been so impressed with the Msata SSD boot drive in my Lenovo T420 that I do plan on adding an SSD to my Desktop too. Much faster.
