"Whoa they changed the start menu, I want the old one back!"
"Whoa, the new Windows OS looks like it came out of a Fisher Price factory, what's with all the colours?"
"Whoa, this looks nothing like the old Windows, why the @{#[ did they change everything?"
What is this, like 2001...
Funny thing is... they still can! For desktop use it won't be suitable UNLESS those people also use tablets. Then it makes perfect sence: the same UI all across.
I don't get how this would drive people over to mac though, that's like saying if you don't like grapes anymore you should try...
I've had problems with my family pack activation code as well. It's probably due to the fact these are MLKs limited to 3 activations, but somehow they're having trouble when you have to do a clean install on a pc you already activated one of the keys on.
Never had anything like that happen...
What worries me is that companies feel flattered when Apple steals trom them. Sure they still take legal action, but it is worrisome...
Can you imagine being flattered by someone stealing your property?
Windows 8 installation media can be created from within the setup. Seeing as this was a comment answer on the blog post on a question regarding the need to keep windows 7 media laying around for safekeeping, I'm guessing the Windows 8 installation media will suffice to reinstall the OS (as in...
Funny, a similar attempt by two Belgian schools to force iPads down their students throats has been thwarted by parent committees. And here I thought those committees had a lot more to say in the US? To add insult to injury, those two Belgian schools are known apple-afficionados (I did part of...
The retina screen seems to scale very well in the desktop (2D) but no mention of it scaling in games and 3D applications, at least not without the developers making significant changes. So if I understand this correctly, basicly if you run any game at 1440x900 it's going to look the same as on...
I hope they will also focus on training the staff how to effectively use Office 365. I have trialed Office 365 and actively use Office 365 for Education at our institution, and it is sad to see how little of the potential that Office 365 provides is actually being used because the features are...
Interesting how none of the major tech players these days (Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Google) are suing eachother, well not on patent related issues anyway.
Interestinly no mention of IPS in the screen specs... Either Dell sees it as a standard an not worth mentioning, or they are going the cheap LED backlit TFT screen which would make this tablet as useful as using sandpaper as toiletpaper.
So ... can anyone name one single useful thing Aero brought with it? Really the only thing it did was apple-up the Windows desktop. I remember the apple fanboys going all "Oh look, they tried to make the Windows desktop look like our shiny apple desktop... and failed" when Vista came out.
I...
Funny how many people can spend thousands of $$$ on the latest and "greatest" hardware that gives you 400fps on that brand new triple 30" screens at 7680x1560 resolution, but then want to run decade-old software on it cause the new stuff scares their pants off...
If you can blame...
Funny you claim workers complain and whine, yet consumer do the very same thing. Some aren't even clever enough to check if their computers are plugged in to whine about faulty material. I won't say you're wrong about the whining workers, but consumers are just as bad.
My question would be: why? Windows is probably one of the world's best known brand names... People who don't like Windows, won't like whatever will be replacing it as they're already hooked to the icult koolaid.
That makes sense for actual products, but here Apple is asking users to pay $25 (will most likely equate to 25) to listen to music they already own. It's ok for people not to know that Apple didn't create tablets, smartphones, mp3 players ... but for them paying for something they actually...
The only good thing would be the end of those horribly annoying "Adobe Flash update" screens that pop up every so often. Of course in an ideal world, everything would get updated through WU.
"This service is not available in your country" - UGH!
I really wish companies as big as Amazon, Google and Microsoft would start releasing their new and useful stuff globally. As much as I dislike Apple and their whole philosophy, they seem to be the only big company able to pull...
One could say eBay made a mistake selling Skype again recently, but it never really fitted in their business model. Microsoft on the other hand could do a lot of useful things with the Skype IP. Using it in Windows Phone 7, Xbox and Office seem like logical choices. Who knows where else it could...
Since MSI has started using military class components for their video cards along with their custom cooling, I can sum up this videocard in three words compared to the rest: cooler, faster, better!
Is this company still in business? Maybe they should team up with Samsung and sue the pants off Apple? :p
Their IQ must be as inflated as the prices of the apple toys they buy. :D
Maybe it's because their service is only available in a handful of countries while itunes is available worldwide... I'd love to be able to buy music from amazon, unfortunately my country isn't very high on the most wanted sellers list. :(
iPads cheaper than laptops? What kind of laptops were these schools buying before, macbooks??
That + what everyone else said, sheesh! Luckily budgets over here are even tighter so wasteful purchases like that are even less likely. :o
I guess Oracle was tired of supporting a cpu that was constantly being referred to as the Itanic rather than the Itanium. :D
Whether or not this is a bad move is hard to tell right now though...
IMHO the term "app store" really is too generic to patent, because "Windows" can literally refer to two different things while "app store" cannot. It's not an "innovating" name like ipod or iphone either, it's just a term used to talk about a market to buy smartphone applications. Really curious...
I'm pretty sure this is all done through xbox Live... So basicly the people using their Windows Phone 7 could be on the other side of the world. Now THAT would be impressive.
Oh and of course some better use for it than the tech vid, but it was a nice video to explain the concept.
Not all of them were the real deal, but the authentic SP1 files were out there. Microsoft confirmed the build number (7601.17514.101119-1850) which is the same build that was released in the wild a few weeks back. Runs fine here on all my pc's. :D
If only I had the hardware to test RemoteFX...
Well if Nintendo fears their consoles can only offer games that could (should?) be valued at $2, perhaps there lies the root of the problem?
MS and Sony have proven that next-gen consoles can cater both high-valued games and cheap arcade games alike.
