Wes!!! What up man? Long time no talk. I see you got some more certs under your belt.
Seeing as how the 851 is only about $300 bucks....I'd say go for it.
Aside from all the technical stuff...how cool is having a Cisco router at home? Much less a Wireless Cisco router. Go for it!!
Yeah...
As far as I can see the only major difference that I see (I just glanced at the differences) is that the 2524 uses the fiber modules that require SC cabling and the 2510 uses mini GBICS. Price is 3 bills for 1 switch. 550 for 2 switches.

HP 2524's
Many Cisco routers.
Hit me up and we can discuss the details.
No set price in mind....make me an offer. Obviously any bs offers will be ignored.
Bro, if you're considering that...you might as well just go all out and get the 5406.

First off....I can't believe I've been away from the [H] for this long.
Got my start in IT while I was in college in 1998. A part time tech role for a big manufacturing company....age 19
Graduated w/ B.S in Telecommunications and got hired by Kraft in May of 2000.
Laid off in April of 2004...

Seriously just ask your question. Or is it a private/personal question?
So I have a Thinkpad T30 and it occasionally freezes up. No errors in the event log, no Windows Blue screens or kernel dumps or anything of that nature.
The fan was clicking, so I replaced the fan.
I've been looking for something to monitor the motherboard temp. Any other suggestions?
While this is true....
If someone has a printer assigned with a static IP and it's turned off, you won't see that. Pardon me though for being Captain Obvious.:D
You can also go into the DHCP utility for Server 2k3 to see what's in the scope of being handed out.
When I'm doing this...I crank up the baud settings to 115000. A 3-5meg file is done in about 2-3 minutes.
If you leave it at 9600, it'll take you 2-3 hours sometimes.
I've seen Nagios up and running and must say it rocks. Not to scare you away, but I've been trying to figure out the damn thing for about 4-5 weeks. I've spent most of that time just reading about Linux.
It'll be worth it, once I get it up and running.
I hate to be a douche bag, but if they're anything like dell printers, dell laptops, etc. they probably suck.
Give the HP Pro Curves a try. While they aren't Cisco they are a lot cheaper with very similar features. The 2650 is a nice L3 10/100 switch. It also comes with 2 uplink ports that...
Totally possible. Essentially, you're running a 1Gb switch with fiber instead of Ethernet.
Same philosophy, just different cabling and not limited to the 100m distance.
I'm confused...are you saying you're glad you don't live in Chicago anymore? Or are you saying that you are glad you are based out of Chicago?
I live in the Chicago area and love it.
Yes you would have bigger issues, BUT we're not talking about terminal servers.
Also, even if they get an access denied message, hack the local admin password and BINGO you have access to all those pretty 10101010101010101010101010100000's
Ugghhh...IT Analyst
- In the midst of a Wireless Lan projects for 20 sites that all communicate over the WAN

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....I could not stop laughing when I read this.
Can I be a douche bag for 1 minute? CAT6....why not go wireless...duh:rolleyes:
JUST KIDDING
A little background on plenum vs. no plenum has to do a bit with fires. Plenum will give off less smoke. Most fires kill people...
I just wish I was smart enough to figure out how to set this up. Luckly, the international IT group bought Argent and I didn't have to set it up. Nagios still looks cool though.
This also brings up a big security issue in my eye. With all the local profiles being cached on the local disk...any user that logs on has access to all that data.
Without saying this too harsh....basically you're screwed.
The old tests 640-801, 640-821, 640-811 all expire in November of 2007. If you do not finish the tests, you have to take the new curriculum exams (640-802, etc.)
The new tests are also supposed to be $25 more than what they cost now.
I've been working with mainly Thinkpad laptops since 1999. Had a few stints with Dell laptops. I have to say Thinkpads hands down are the best laptops. I've touched (worked on probably over 1,000 Thinkpads and have never seen a CD-rom go bad, ram die, screens go out, keyboards fail).
The...
