I hate to do this since I hardly even used the card, but I am putting my EVGA 8800GT SSC up for sale. It comes with an Arctic Cooling S1 cooler and custom RAM sinks (made a group buy for them when they came out). There is AS5 on the GPU and ASC on the RAM.
This was one of those cards I...
I have a 500w Enermax Liberty on mine... Currently running only one HDD, but I will be adding four more in a week. Currently the highest my Kill-A-Watt has read was about 106w, IIRC. I also have a 720w Enermax Infinity that I could have used, but I selected to put it in my gaming HTPC in my...
I just picked up WHS this week and put together a spare computer for it and I can't believe I didn't get this sooner. It sure does make life easier at home! It made me realize that my old Microsoft MN-700 router wasn't cutting it anymore so I had to pick up a wireless N w/ 1GB wired network...
Good call, I was just looking at New Egg since I was already on the site.
It looks like I'm either going to use the E8500 w/ 2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM or buy an E3200 w/ 2GB 667MHz RAM (already have the RAM in either case).
Edit: Just dropped the $55 shipped for the E3200. The E8500 will go...
After taking a look, my motherboard won't support a cheap CPU (1,300 FSB, 1600 FSB). I may just use what I have now (not sure which one will make it in the build) and build another HTPC with an i7 when the basement is done in the next few months.
I have three computers to fill with a CPU. At one point, I'll have to get another CPU. Sorry I wasn't more clear.
In total, I have two HTPC's, one office PC, and the server (4 total). One of the HTPC's is in 24/7 use and has a Phenom x3 and a 780G mobo.
I am going to order a copy of WHS tonight and I'm trying to decide what processor I am going to use... I have two processors to choose from (already own), however, I'll have to buy another for the 'office' computer (that I *may* game on).
I have an E8500 and a Q9300 processor currently. The...
I disagree. YOU may not be able to do it, but I many are VERY good with controllers... Some are just as good/comfortable with a controller as you are with your KB/M.
You're missing my point. Someone good enough with a controller shouldn't have a problem doing that. I would do a MUCH better job attempting it with a controller than a KB/M. ;)
COD WaW supports the Xbox controller natively... You're probably already playing someone with a controller. Some people are just better at a controller. It's more of a preference, but I'm FAR better on a controller than keybaord.
That's pretty much what I do. I hate paying for the latest and greatest to have something better come out at less than half the cost 6 months later. I would love to stay on top each cycle, but money and time doesn't come easy.
But with a console, I don't have to do anything extra to install another device... It just works. I know some people like keyboard and mouse, I don't.
Currently, I've got one game on the PC and I play it because it uses my Xbox 360 controller natively (Crysis). I do have C&C (ten year pack)...
I'm the opposite... I can't use a keyboard/mouse for FPS games as I just can't move around very well with the keyboard. I find myself searching for the correct keys to move my character and regularly hit the wrong key. With a thumb-stick on the 360 controller, I don't have this issue.
I...
I just had a LiteOn BD drive do this... It had almost no use on it (sat in a box for about 6 months, but it was still in warranty when it failed. I'm still waiting for my replacement.
Modern Warfare 2 and possibly the new Halo (not Halo Wars) tat is supposed to be similar to Halo 3 through a different character. Obviously the latter is for the Xbox.
I think that's the size of the HDD in the Dell Tough Books. I opened up the HDD and found a small HDD in there.
I've got two PC's with 2.5" HDD's in them. I love them as they're quiet and work well.
I only have one machine using XP right now and it is my Netbook. I only use it because my tuning software works best with XP. I am planning on trying Win7 on it and try to tune my car with it. If it works well, I'll be done with XP. I do like XP, but I also like change and for media...
I have COD4 and WaW and I keep finding myself going back to play COD4. Professional or "arcade" like (I don't get paid for playing so.... Professional?), who cares, it is fun. That's why I play games anyway.
If you only have one 5.25" drive bay used for optical or such, you can fit one drive there and you should be able to fit two drives in the stock location. You can easily fit 3 HDD's in there.
I am using the board linked with a Phenom x3 8450 and it's a great board. It does a great job for office apps and watching Blu-Rays. What I have had it struggle with is SD material. It just doesn't look as clean as my 8800GT or 9600GT that I use on other computers in the house.
I've got a 1600 and 1800 (about a year now) and they both work well. I think my 1800 does a little better job with SD/analog, but for the most part they've been the same. I do occasionally drop some analog channels with my 1800 which I never did with my 1600.
I never use the Hauppauge...
That's just over the limit of a DVD... If this is daily and you back up daily, I still don't see the NEED for BD burning yet.... Especially at the high cost compared to a 50 pack of DVD-R's.
You make it sound like that process is going to stop....
To the OP: About 4 months ago, I was wondering the same thing. I wanted to save cash because I had everything else and went for a <$200 Q9300 and OC'd it to 3Ghz. It's an upgrade from the E6750 I had and does what I need very well...
I feel horrible for paying $200 for a CD/DVD burner back in 2004... I think I'll wait. I really can't think of a reason to have a BD burner right now. I back everything up on external HDD's and I don't need to put that much HD video on anything. Heck, aside from burning a copy of Win7 on a...
I'm not that concerened. I've NEVER seen a Vista computer let the HDD rest and that is with FRESH installs with nothing else on the computer.
In short, Vista uses the drive a lot.
